that guy is a great driver. keeping the correct racing line through every single turn and still being ridiculously fast through each one. that car makes a BEAUTIFUL SOUND.
Well damn! I'm just discovering this car and it is amazingly beautiful in looks and in sound! Hell, this puts those pitiful sounding v8s currently in F1 to shame soundwise! LOVE IT!
@murphe777 Just to clarify. The dopler effect has nothing to do with amplitude or 'weakness' of sound. It affects frequency. The sound waves are bunched up if the object is traveling towards you and will reach you in quicker succession ergo a higher frequency and higher pitched sound. As the object travels away the sound waves leave the object at a lower rate of speed and reach you in slower succession ergo a lower pitch.
They were gonna run it at Nurburgring. They were on a warm-up lap when a caliper got stuck. They tried to get it off but didn't have the right tools. Honda, being Honda, forgot the Torx.
this is the best sounding car I have ever heard. Its a really tough decision. My favorite sounding engines were the v10 era f1 cars but I think this takes the cake.
Same here. My Dad was going to get an NSX for his next demo, oh well... That is one of the sexiest exhaust notes I have EVER heard! I wish Honda/Acura could make production V-8's. Wow!
The sound must be real. If you saw the whole video, you would know there were about 3 cars being tested. So the "mismatched" sound you hear comes from another HSV-010.
Detuned 3.4L V8 500HP @ 10300RPM Naturally Aspirated Engine from Formula Nippon. The HSV - 010 is a not a MR layout car, but a FR layout. Technology for suspension is the SUPER GT NSX suspension tech. Has a oversteering issue. A driver commented that it was hard to drive becuase of the oversteering
I have a question. Super GT allows non commercial production engines to be used? Every soruce i here is that the engine is very simalar to the indy car engines. is that even fair considering i belive everyone else is using production engines?
@jonathan102 I didn't mean that light had anything to do with the sound the car makes, although I can see how you thought that. I meant that, when the car is far away, you don't hear the sound for a second or two. That's why marching bands must always watch the conductor. If they followed by ear, they'd be behind.
They used to use engines based off their production engines, but for the last year or two the rules have changed so they all need to make a new race-only V8 engine that gets used in multiple racing series. Makes the cars closer and cheaper since the engines are used for more than just Super GT.
Its a 90-degree V8 with 3400cc capacity, rev-limited to 10,300rpm and good for 600bhp plus. For Super GT duty, the engine will have to be significantly reworked for a more endurance spec. Super GT races are longer and harder than Formula Nippon and each engine also has to last for four races."
it should be in production....rules for the Jap super GT series says only production cars can enter so if honda managed to get this car in that means they have to be getting it ready for production
well you hear for sure the dogbox transmission. that's why you hear somekind of whine because a race transmission is built with straight gear versus de helicoidal gear you found in a regular car. the reason for those straight gear is that they can handle way more power and rpm than a helicoidal transmission.
hmm thats some good advice ... but i mean they don't make silvias or r32's anymore but since they are gems they are pretty readily available for aftermarket support..wouldn't be an evo X but a 4 8 or 9...where do you live at? the U.S? ive pretty much heard that its hard to get even an r32 in the states any more, let alone street legal and nearly impossible for an r33 or r34... but yes I would love a rhd but just didn't know how the legalities of it went.
@tingtongtim Sound and light travel at different speeds. You see what's happening before you hear it, in the same manner that you see lightning before you hear thunder.
@icedstar Unfortunately no, as far as I'm aware. They had to get a special permit or something to allow the car to race, so no new production NSX... :-(
At first I thought this was just an old Ferrari F1 V12 sound pasted over the video... the first clip of it going WOT past the camera and down the front straight sounds really similar to a sound clip that's all over youtube of the Ferrari V12. This ting sounds freaking glorious. Good job Honda, now freaking make the car for real...
@clocktower7 They are..Its the nsx replacement. If you look at the tail light you'll see its the same one..not as cool lookin at the super gt but still cool tho
3.4L 90° V8 32 Valve V8 DOHC. (93mm bore, 62.5mm stroke). Undersquare design, short piston travel allows for high RPM, generating high pitched "F1" or "I-4 Sportbike" sound. Engine sounds like it operates in the 10,000-16,000rpm powerband. Car weighs 2400lbs, constant mesh tranny allows no-lift shifts w/ paddle shifters.
We are in luck (for those who will be able to afford it). Should be a road version of this sweet baby 2012. the HSV-010 will undergo a slight makeover in the transition from race car to road car, with a slightly narrower track, more sculpted sides and the removal of the Cessna-sized rear wing. A V8 will supposedly still be nestled up front, but instead of the SuperGT car's 3.4-liter V8, a 500+ horsepower 5.0-liter will take its place.
The production version that was canceled had a lot of ASCC and Crosstour cues. It was supposed to be a 2 seater but then they decided on a 2+2 layout since thats what the GT-R uses. They really wanted to build a world class car that could compete with the worlds best, but the financial crisis came and they canceled it. The GT-R was their main target. Supposedly it had a 5.0L v10 producing 550ps, AWD, and a 7 speed DSG/PDK like gearbox. The
hahaha thanks man... ya I love many makes and models, but being how i just graduated college and am only 21 ... I have no money and wont for a bit... would love to build and boost lots of cars but Im planning for just 1 right now and even 50g's is alot for me to fathum to completely build a car.. and then to maintain it, insurance and gas, how do ppl do it?
@Bonald1101 it should come to production cuz if they are planing on racing on the GT i think is mandatory a production car so maybe it will get done "fingers crossed"
that guy is a great driver. keeping the correct racing line through every single turn and still being ridiculously fast through each one. that car makes a BEAUTIFUL SOUND.
Theres nothing more beautiful than the sound of N/A high revving petrol engine, preferably a V10 too
NA Machines are more Reliable too!
mr8I7
I hate turbo engines💩
This is a V8 :)
R8 is what u r looking for my friend
This sounds better than LFA in my opinion
it's a V8 instead of a V10
Ford Shelby GT500 is the best GT500, HSV-010 is the worst GT500 ones.
This, mazda 787b, Porsche Carrera GT, Lexus LFA, 05 Williams BMW V10 f1 greatest engine sounds of all time.
This is like a V12 F1 Ferrari engine sound on this car.
I think it sounds more like a Formula Renault
it honestly sounds like an old v12 f1 car
THIS...IS...EPIC. The engine note was beyond awesome. Finally, the Japanese are coming back again with proper monsters, the HSV-10,GT-R and the LF-A.
If ANY car on the market sounded and went like this one, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I am a proud owner and fan of Honda. This HSV-10 GT is fantastic!
The exhaust note is beyond words

Might be my favorite engine sound now. Holyyyy…..
Well damn! I'm just discovering this car and it is amazingly beautiful in looks and in sound! Hell, this puts those pitiful sounding v8s currently in F1 to shame soundwise! LOVE IT!
This is the HSV is running a V8. The road going version was supposed to have a V10. 3.4L V8
Love how he zooms into the garage and they close it up immediately..
Really nice sound - thx for upload...
Good camera work
OMG! Awesome sound. It really sounds like the Honda F1 V10 Engine they used. Even the gearbox almost sounds the same.
edit:
not the HSV is canceled, the NSX V10 is canceled. The HSV is a V8 car and maybe available for sale in the near future.
Regards
where is the production version?
What a beautiful Honda sound!

i'm watchin this almost everyday !!
THANKS HONDA !!
that is one super cool looking car

this is the best sounding car I have ever heard. Its a really tough decision. My favorite sounding engines were the v10 era f1 cars but I think this takes the cake.
these cars are legendary, and they're not even born yet
This is the most exciting Honda car to debut since the 06-07 NSX-GT.
@BanglishBoy this one has a 3.4L V8 not the V10 that was suposed to have in the production model
Same here. My Dad was going to get an NSX for his next demo, oh well...

I have a question. Super GT allows non commercial production engines to be used? Every soruce i here is that the engine is very simalar to the indy car engines. is that even fair considering i belive everyone else is using production engines?
@coldinfusion I think its a Formula 1 V8..I think they make around 800 -1000 hp.
the last NSX for SuperGT has to be homologated at least 5 cars. maybe they will do the same with hsv?
few years later.. whats the story with this..? when can i buy..?
@jonathan102 I didn't mean that light had anything to do with the sound the car makes, although I can see how you thought that. I meant that, when the car is far away, you don't hear the sound for a second or two. That's why marching bands must always watch the conductor. If they followed by ear, they'd be behind.
Has there been any released lap times? I'd like to see how it stacks up to the likes of the GT-R and SC430 Super GT racers.
Honda f1 v8 motor technology here, old school stuff, they did have a v-10 in mind for this car but stuck with what works.
I'm jealous of that driver.
the car in the vid is NA V8.
The NSX!! Prototype was an NA V10 SH-AWD
inform yourself correctly.
only cool honda thing ive seen in a while... much respect to this gt machine=
Engine screen: BANZAAAAAAI!
Hopefully this thing will be ultra successful in Super GT and force Honda into making a production version...

ahhh cant wait till the NSX V-10 comes out
its gonna be amazing
How come isn't Honda making production version of this car?

Oh my god.. Most beautiful lines on a car ever?

Power comes from a Mugen-assembled engined V8 originally designed for Formula Nippon single-seaters.
Pistonheads has the story
@icedstar Unfortunately no, as far as I'm aware. They had to get a special permit or something to allow the car to race, so no new production NSX... :-(

F1 Sound

This, is what a HONDA feels like !
Cmon now that is the best sounding car ever! If I was racing, I wouldn't want to pass it just so I can hear it sing in front of me!
The one with the gold rims.. Hope it will be a Takata dome (green/white) version again instead of the rock band car...
OMG!!!!! Good stuff! HSV-010 is going head to head with LF-A next year. Is going to be interesting.
hahaha thanks man... ya I love many makes and models, but being how i just graduated college and am only 21 ... i have watch this video so much that i lost count lol...love the sound cant get out of my mind....long live Honda...
ce sunet, ce masina !!!
cand apare varianta de serie ???
Laguna Seca is not in Japan. That is Suzuka.
I hope this comes to the states and is badged a Honda! Acura with its nasty looking fleet(lately)does not deserve it.. Thanks for the vid.
@computer188 they are only using it for racing. Not for production
i mean visual design, as in body design
to me hsv010 gt is the coolest looking thing right now, even if it never hits the streets
i heard there is a v-10 version, why are they using the v-8?
Sounds like this is sporting an old, leftover Formula 1 V8. Sure would be nice to see one of those on this side of the Pacific.
Now that's what a GT car should sound like! looks like the aero's working well too.
@Bonald1101 it should come to production cuz if they are planing on racing on the GT i think is mandatory a production car so maybe it will get done "fingers crossed"
