7:10 "I decided that I'd start practicing not saying things that would make me weak and what happened is that I had to stop saying almost everything that I was saying" Great sentence by Peterson
I have two girls, a 3 year old and five year old. Where do I find a school with teachers like Warren? I need my girls and my peer's kids and all kids to learn from thoughtful, articulate, patient, caring, inquisitive and genuine people like him. Warren for what it's worth, you're an immense value for children and I hope that whatever you do you find a place where you can educate them. Forget post secondary, middle and high school is where you're needed the most. Where you have the most good, at net, to give.
Best you can do is teach them to critically think that way they never follow something without good reason. Unfortunately you can't count on the education system to teach this anymore. Do that and they'll be fine. Best of luck to you and your girls.
@@360Pros Start with you. YOU are the primary educator of your children. Educate yourself by reading broadly and deeply on matters of history, philosophy, religion, and science. Read about different educational methods (The Thomas Jefferson Education was an excellent book - I disagreed with some of it, but I have very distinct ideas about education). If, for whatever legal or practical reason, you HAVE TO rely on state schools or even private schools, make sure you are still actively involved in forming your children's minds through good discussions around the dinner table and reading good books out loud (instead of television!). If you can, homeschool unless and until you can find a school that you can trust with your children's precious, beautiful minds. Passive parenting is not a viable option in today's society; if you're floating with the current, you're a corpse.
Wow this is amazing, Peterson directly meeting someone impacted by his teachings, precisely ‘to stop saying things that make you weak’ and Warren Smith is a great example himself now
If Warren Smith had been my teacher for every course, I wouldn't have dropped out of school. He's the teacher I wish I had when I was going to school. Hell, I'm getting my GED and I wish he was my teacher.

The student videoing him said “I don’t really have an opinion on it” because that’s how kids are taught to survive, otherwise they might be cancelled like the teacher for simply trying to teach them to think.
Exactly… he says right after that, “I’m going with what everyone else thinks about this” This is incredibly sad if that’s what our youth chooses to do these days.
@@tdeo2141 Yeah, this is much more the point around these gender issues. If you don't have the correct opinion, if you are keeping an open mind or have questions, you're automatically on the wrong side in the eyes of the virtuous.

Spent several years teaching in a very similar school. It was terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time. As one colleague said ' if you can teach here you can teach anywhere'. I went on to teach history and critical thinking around the world. Warren has a great future. 'Even now there are places where a thought might grow'.
Wow.....reasoned, thoughtful, articulate, everything you'd ever want to find in a great teacher. Yet, they told him to pack his bags and get out. What a sharp man he is. Thank you for this interview. A real eye-opener.

I was driving to teach at a HS in central California and listening to Charlton Heston saying, "Live Free or die." This upset me because twice earlier a difficult class challenged me, "We should take down that (USA) Flag down and put up the Mexican Flag." So, it happened again and I told them off, "I defended that Flag under fire and you will do so over my dead body..." and then later"...the last country that tried that got turned into an ash." The confrontation became a scandal with me warned not to exacerbate racial problems and then taking some years I was driven out of teaching. Trying to save my house I ended up in the Bakken. I was eating breakfast up in North Dakota with a room full of Truckers and sitting next to a guy asking how I got into trucking. I explained as above and the room gave me a standing ovation.
Sounds like you don't have the patience or constitution to get through to children in a way they can appreciate. Glad you found a profession more suited, and where you feel respected in the way the children could not.
Warren, you took the journey to speaking truth. A simple message but it took the wonderful Dr Jordan Peterson to tell us that. What a reward! You get to speak with the man!
One of the things that has struck me as I make my way through a community college currently, is the polarity of the quality of the instructors. In these schools where the only unique benefit is found in the impact on students, you find some truly incredible professors. And you find people that gave up 20 years ago. But those special professors are the closest thing to angels on earth.
@@mthoodstylethey don't know what to tell you aside from we have all these studies and we can make more studies you literally need to demonstrate why you are here run up to the new teacher and this other teacher, but I'm not actually interested in your course! I consistently had the BEST professors at community college - I attended for several years before attending private college in order to save money. There's no prestige in teaching at a community college; only the teachers really dedicated to helping others learn stay there. (I did have one or two duds. And ho boy, were they duds. But I didn't care as much about them being duds when I was only paying $500 a class, vs. $5000 a class at the private college).

I haven't listened through this entire interview yet, but I am pausing to thank Dr Peterson and Warren Smith for this satisfying, captivating and intelligent conversation. I have been enjoying it tremendously and I'm grateful for its existence.
Actually, your job as a teacher is to do exactly what you did: Teach children to think critically. THIS is paramount to education. If children cannot think critically then they become nothing more than drones that do what they're told instead of understanding why it is important to do those things. Because...MAYBE through critical thinking, there will be push back on bad ideas.

The saddness in all of this is the loss to the students. Finding a teacher who can work in a way that helps the students who find it difficult to navigate a traditional school, or even navigate the world around them should and selibrated and even studied to inspire more great teachers like him. This young man should be given more opportunities to take his communication skills to help others, not silence him. You taught those kids nothing in silencing him, but that they were no more to that school than a paycheck. Side note to Mr. Peterson, you are such a treasure. One of the saddest moments recorded in UA-cam is this man calmly and quietly almost whispering “I miss it”. 😢
Teaching and helping people is super rewarding even though many of the faculty were tools it would still be worth it to impact those kids futures in such a positive way
Great to see Warren being acknowledged on a large for his common sense approach!
Was not expecting to run into Craig in the good Dr.'s comment section! Would love to see the two of you talk about video games seeing how they are almost always portrayed in a negative light on this side of the isle.
Not all warriors are in the military or wield physical weapons. Peterson and Smith are strong and courageous, leaders and defenders for humanity.
Completely agree with this analogy. It is a WAR to KEEP YOURSELF every day. God bless both of these men.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@NVRAMboiwell put. I would add, at least in my personal case, in this day in order to stay sane, one needs to be ready to take on arms, perhaps not by grabbing weapons, but rather by saying certain things which are absolute horror for the normal man and your enemies - therefore the feeling of being in war.
Mr. Smith will go far and do well. The whole world needs intelligent young men like this. Kudos.
He will do very well now that he's on the interview circuit.....view beginning clips with Piers Morgan and Jordan Peterson.
I hope this catapults this mans life in a successful fulfilling direction. Like other commenters have stated. He is the teacher every student deserves
I’m a school bus driver, and I stay silent for so many things kids spew out and do on my bus, even when it’s safety concerns, because of the backlash that I have received from speaking up before. It’s wild where we are at today.
I feel you, man. I went to a public high school a couple decades ago and the amount of drugs and blowjobs on the school bus I took was unreal
Can you elaborate ?
Those lil bastards should fear the bus driver
Two of my favorite UA-camrs talking to each other. Can life be any better.
The daily wire sponsored his video two days ago! I hope they will be sponsoring his videos for a long time because he deserves it. I subscribed to him yesterday and I am sure many will follow as he is an honorable person who did not sell his soul for money. Let's reward him for being truthful, caring, well spoken and courageous. We need more people like him.
Congratulations..so happy for him...he will be in great company!
Has he really? I’m going to start watching him. That is amazing
@@MTech07 They sponsored his video from 2 days ago on his channel Warren Smith - Secret Scholar Society. I am starting to doubt now if it is a limited time sponsor or a long time sponsor. I will edit my comment just to be sure that I am not spreading misinformation. Thank you for addressing me and I can only hope it is for a longer time. Sorry if I mislead anybody by saying he joined them and it turns out to be a limited time sponsorship only.
Jordan will go down as one of the greatest man who lived. I’m happy I’m witnessing this and will recommend my kids to listen to this man when they’re able to read and listen.
Jordan is not going down tho 😅

Sounds like a man who would do well working at the Peterson institute.
Agreed!
That or the Daily Wire!
That is what i kept thinking the whole time i was watching.
@@cosmicdisaster25Disagree. Don’t drag him into politics at such a young age. He’ll have a bigger impact by remaining neutral rather than aligning himself with only conservative thinkers at the Daily Wire.
@@Lunareclipse1996 That might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
1:03:47, in I realize for the last 20 minutes, my head going back and forth to each man speaking in turn (or not so much) like a spectator at a tennis match, it dawns on me;
I'm watching Dr. Peterson as he interviews a younger version of himself...
We should all be so fortunate.
Correct! I saw it immediately. What I have not worked out is whether or not it was affectation on the young mans part. I don't think it was, but a second viewing, this time on mute, is in order.
7:10 "I decided that I'd start practicing not saying things that would make me weak and what happened is that I had to stop saying almost everything that I was saying"
Great sentence by Peterson
Thank you for interviewing him.
This is the crossover I've wanted for a long time.
I was wanting the same thing too! 😀Seeing these two together is as epic as a Wolverine & Deadpool crossover.
He’s the kind of teacher everyone wishes they had. Well done good sir.
@ Thanks Anthony. It seems like I need to settle for an educational system that tells them what to learn instead of how to learn. It's bs.
@ Do you have children?
Best Teacher I’ve seen in a long time. Please move to Montana … we will hire you for our private school MVCA in a heart beat🤗
Where is this school.? Family from MT. Unfortunately from liberal area.
Ok but almost anyone who teaches GED at least started out caring . Try to see your teacher as a person and love yourself enough to work hard even if no one told you that you ARE special and loved by God.
The student videoing him said “I don’t really have an opinion on it” because that’s how kids are taught to survive, otherwise they might be cancelled like the teacher for simply trying to teach them to think.
100%. This same scenario happens all the time, even in adult situations.
Exactly… he says right after that, “I’m going with what everyone else thinks about this”
This is incredibly sad if that’s what our youth chooses to do these days.
@@tdeo2141 Yeah, this is much more the point around these gender issues. If you don't have the correct opinion, if you are keeping an open mind or have questions, you're automatically on the wrong side in the eyes of the virtuous.
@@tdeo2141It isn’t these days. That’s what the youth has always done.
This is nothing about survival, it’s kid heard something and because teacher uses Harry Potter to teach and likes the books questioned him on it.
Smith also makes clear that he does not think he got fired for making them think critically but because the school got heat from outside people as a result.
Thank GOD these conversations are accessible
Bc of Warren that’s now how I have conversations with my 15 year old now. I thank him for it bc it helped tremendously.
The collaboration I've been hoping for. Two of the best minds and voices in society today.
The speed I clicked when I saw this episode's guest! So grateful for the talk and exposure for Warren. I hope this opens new doors for him. We should support our own like-minded deep thinkers! He could easily teach a unit on critical thinking at Jordan's academy. Just an idea.
That same thought was on my mind 10 minutes into the video.
Same here.
Not all heroes wear capes - God bless Warren and Jordan.
How do you know Warren doesn’t wear a cape?
Smith's a man of great dignity and integrity.
Warren! Very happy to see this!
Great to see you connecting with the good doctor!
I was educated at a private grammar school in England during the 1940s/1950s and know our young scholars need less woke and more truth in their education. This teacher is a breath of fresh air.
NO woke is even better.
So important for parents to teach principles and morals to their children. Simple regular frequent conversations are important.
@@mrs.s.vajaycserhati9010Completely agree👍😀
Ah, I just found Warren recently! He seems really cool, reminds me of Peterson even, which I don't think I've ever said! Very calm and measured and gets down to the point of things. His channel is definitely worth checking out!
The "Problem" was that this man actually TEACHES. He doesn't parrot the woke garbage and indoctrinate young minds. Developing critical thinking: not brain washing. God Bless you, Sir
This is now one of my favorite all time JP interviews. Thank you JP for talking to Warren and letting him expand on his situation. Thank you Warren for all that you have done.
This is such a Teacher/Jordan fan dream interview!.. I would be so much more nervous than he was..
I feel so proud of being a Teacher watching this :)
Great to see Peterson looking so healthy these days
Yes he is and it's due to him adopting the "carnivore diet." (Meat eater)

It was a dark time in 2019, 2020, and 2021, when Jordan Peterson disappeared, and left a black-hole in the internet. I was praying that he would recover from his addiction, and come back like a motherfucking hurricane, and that's exactly what happened. He is firing on all cylinders. Praise the LORD...!
Less red. I was worry for a bit 🤣. Even though he is 60+ years old but that was a bit off.
This is the perfect example of a blessing in disguise. These are the teachers we need and want, but the education system has been poisoned and mismanaged beyond belief. Witnessing the consequences of listening to Dr. P! 👊
We're so lucky to live in this country. And to have free speech. Because of it, we can see this type of thing on the small scale before it gets to the large scale. This man took a hit for all of us.
This makes me so happy I can’t even express it, dearest Dr. Peterson, I have been wanting you and Warren to talk for ages and ages. You two are such kindred spirits. I knew you two would enjoy the heck out of each other’s company. I can’t wait to watch tonight after the kids are in bed.
Here is a hug for you BOTH.

It’s crazy that the criticism: “let’s not go with what other people have said, let’s learn to critically think”
Is such an absolute affront to so many people.
I wish all teachers were like him
This young teacher is remarkable..great podcast..thank you!
Mr Smith is a very intelligent and based person. Keep Strong Sir.
He doesn't sound intelligent, he IS INTELLIGENT. ❤❤❤ This was a wonderful interview, so glad be able to view it. I follow you both! So insightful 🤗

Literally shaking my head with utter disappointment at anyone who would find anything wrong with this teacher's teaching! "They" fear the youth getting smarter. I pray this guy continues to teach!!! For all the naysayers...as if you would walk a single step in his shoes at all! If only society would start backing our teacher's instead of completely mistreating them.
Getting fired from that job was a blessing.

There was no job. It's fake.
Maybe for him, not the kids.
No its what he did do after getting fired. Thats the blessing. Its just him.
These gentlemen are the kind of teachers that I like. Teaching students how to think is so much better than what to think.
I have worked as a mental health support worker in a high school setting for 24 years. I love the students I work with. They come with learning challenges, intense trauma, and attention difficulties.
I can see their gifts/potential and the contributes they have to offer! My number one is to help them feel safe and honored for who they are.
I love this interview.
Thank you both for being educators with integrity and warriors of truth.
Bless you.
Thank you for your dedication!

This chat is imho a gift to the world.
"Let's not go with whatever other people say and let's critically think."
This is the LAST thing the government wants its citizens to do.
Bingo

Safe journeys.
Sounds like you don't have the patience or constitution to get through to children in a way they can appreciate. Glad you found a profession more suited, and where you feel respected in the way the children could not.
💕 it’s not all you can do …. Look deeper into the possibilities
Warren, you took the journey to speaking truth. A simple message but it took the wonderful Dr Jordan Peterson to tell us that. What a reward! You get to speak with the man!
Two of my favorite people on earth having a conversation.... What a delight!
It's time to invent Education 3.0 for the Renaissance Age we are entering.
Thank you Warren! I hope wonderful adventures and lots of smiles come your way!
I had a cc prof who taught social cultural geography back in the early 90s who was one of those angles. I’ll never forget him!
@@mthoodstylethey don't know what to tell you aside from we have all these studies and we can make more studies you literally need to demonstrate why you are here run up to the new teacher and this other teacher, but I'm not actually interested in your course! He literally can't remember anything about his life he just knows everything.
@@mthoodstylewas he a right angle? Just teasing, I had one too!!
There are few true teachers in this world. This kid is one. If i had children, I would hire him to teach my children alone.
Now...this young man is a real one...this teacher is one I would have loved to have when I was in school...may God guide him towards the right path and bring more opportunities for him..we need more educators like him....bravo....
He’s a decent guy. Well done for questioning in the face of adversity ❤
I've been waiting to hear you and Warren converse. Thank you both.
Good to watch this calm energy exchange. The student being interviewed by the teacher. A fine example of a conversation that will no doubt be criticised endlessly by the weak of mind. Well done Gentlemen.
Oh and those who criticise Peterson for the suits? Its a trap you fools, it means you cant see the person behind it, it triggers your inner child. 😊
I haven't listened through this entire interview yet, but I am pausing to thank Dr Peterson and Warren Smith for this satisfying, captivating and intelligent conversation. I have been enjoying it tremendously and I'm grateful for its existence.
Thank God there are good men to help this young man get back on track.
Thank you for having him on Dr. JP. I am certain there are many like this gentleman who are unable to voice their concern for fear of losing their livelihood.
This is enthralling. My husband is very much like these men. He's stoic, intelligent and educated but very quiet. It's fascinating to see 2 men on an equal intellectual playing field just converse.

I was very much hoping to see this interview happen! Way to go, Warren, and thank you Dr. Peterson for helping to create a solution to the rot in the Universities!
As an attorney who spent almost 30 years as a senior counsel in the Office of the General Counsel of the New York City School District, this is truly an invaluably insightful and inspirational podcast episode. May God bless Warren Smith, Dr. Peterson, and their loved ones always in their life journeys. I could write for pages on the many important aspects upon which they touched in these 90 minutes.
I'm so grateful you risk all you do to lecture and do these videos for those of us who otherwise would never get the opportunities to learn from you and grow in our understanding of this ever changing and complexe world around us. We know it costs you. We can see your heart.
Jordan, get him to teach a class on critical thinking for Peterson academy, please!!!
“The only lives that truly matter are those who respect the lives of others”.
They don't want the kids to learn critical thinking. Hats off Mr. Smith.
Thank you for bringing him on. I watch his content. He is authentic and in good faith. Wonderful conversation.
