oh my god ive been racking my brain because i couldn’t wrap my head around this but somehow this is the first tutorial tive come across that specifically mentioned letting go of the thumb yarn. idk how it look me like 30 minutes to understand 🤦♀️ learning to knit has been a more humbling experience than i’ve expected lmao. tysm for this
Don’t mean to be rude at all, but, I have spent a very long time trying to figure out how this works (about 1hr 20mins total), do you have any tips? Edit: I figured it out 🎉 thanks for the help! :) Edit 2: nvm I still need help Edit 3: quick question, do I do the slip knot before or after the cast on? Edit 4: I figured it all out! Thanks for the help (even though it was confusing and took me about an hour and 40 mins total), I was just doing a few things wrong. Thanks again!
So when you have the yarn draped over the needle, one side will have an end that doesn’t connect to anything, that is the “tail” and then the other side will be connected to the rest of the yarn, that is “from the ball” when using this cast on Method the tail will be on the left hand side or around your thumb and the yarn from the ball will be on the right hand side or around your pointer. Hope that all made sense.

I have watched this many times and when I get stuck, I come back and watch it again. Thanks for this helpful video!!
It took me while to get it but it was worth ot is easy and detailed thanks
Thanks for the advice. I needed it so bad!!
Ty
I have the same yarn as you, cool
Thank you! I totally forgot how to cast on like this and your video was super helpful :)
I did this for five hundred stitches and it made a huge mess trying to garter stitch my first row.
I’m so sorry that happened! I used to have trouble with starting the first row if my cast on was too tight on the needle.
What is the difference between this and a regular cast on?
Thank you very much, I finally understand how to do this after watching many videos, but your video is the one that finally click it for me ❤❤
Omg perfect ty!

What is the needle size
I was using a 3mm needle ✨
This is how I do it too
Not clear which is tail and which is from ball

Tail is around thumb.
Way too fast. Need at least one cast on in slow motion.
Why so fast if you are intending to teach this. Not so easily seen. Slow down
