this is how it going on in our time ^^

Love how Bam holds the mic like he's about to spit bars even when he's just talking normally lol
The UK loved this tune !!!
Yo dude you are by far the best UA-cam content creator I've come across after all these years. I had my mind blown when, after watching your deep dives on these albums I love so much, I randomly googled "funk bass lines" trying to expand my personal repertoire and the video that popped up and was most interesting was YOURS. The one about the soundcheck bass lines lol. Keep up the good work man, you seriously deserve all the success I believe is headed your way.
Thank you man, this comment means a lot 🙏
Their performance on KEXP was mind blowing yo!
Damn, I don’t think I’ve ever seen content like this. I remember all the Hip House growing up in the late 80’sin Chicago. Tyree Cooper, Sundance, Fast Eddie even Too Cool Chris.
I talk about this genre and people look at me like huh? Awesome job on this one!
One of the most important hip hop albums and shamefully overlooked in the 50th birthday celebrations.
BIG FACTS, the whole Native Tongues was overlooked
Word!!
Fun fact: technotronics pump up the jam, which was inspired from Ill house You was sampled in Streets of Rage 1 opening track.
Those of us that attended hbcus in the late 80s early 90s heard this song and absolutely went crazy each time it would come on and then my sophomore year the jungle Brothers come to Cheyney University and perform for spring break and we tore up the place in a good way though
I knew it was going to be a house classic the very first time I heard it. With that beat and the many meanings to I’ll house you, I knew it would stand the test of time. To this day I still try to introduce youngins to it lol. Thank you for posting this. I was getting hyped just from hearing that little bit of house played. Also big shout out to DJ Red Alert! I don’t think he gets the recognition that he deserves.
I song I've dropped in mixes for decades, it's timeless and I never tire of listening to it. Move Your Body is also one of the best House tracks ever made. Both I've rocked to on the dance floor and behind the decks. They will never leave my playlist and the bop in my body.
doesn't move the crowd in these parts but I'm detroit so these crowds don't put up with schtick. MOve your body different story of course since it's the real deal. If I play it in a mix , no more than a few bars . No one misses it being mixed out.
Great video, as an Acid House producer who started playing keyboards after hearing Herbie Hancock's Rock It I highly appreciate this content. Love me some Hip House too...
Welp. Time to add another podcast into the rotation. Can't wait to check out the interviews.
🙌🙌🙌
Heard it the first time in Dallas 1989, I'm from Holland and was visiting.... will never forget that moment.
Big fan of house and hip hop and this is still my shit right here! So glad you covered this one. ... J
Had to! Such a great time speaking with Bam about it!
@@diggingthegreats Man I love your videos and I've introduced a few music lover friends of mine to your channel. That interview was on point and now I gotta check out the podcast. Keep it coming. ... J
"Africa will steer you wrong. Say WHAT!? House Music all night long"
Man I was 17 when this song came out in the Lower east side, classic banger.
Good interviewing. Thanks, for just letting him talk and not trying to interject yourself like some interviewers do.
I swear, this guy does not know how to make a dull video. Kindred. Love it.
Still one of my favorite house records
Classic, so many good dance nights to this track!
Love love love this!!!! Thank you for including this story!!! Chicago Love!!!!
Yayyy, another Digging the Greats video and with a guest too 🔥🔥🔥
Saw the JBs at The Jazz Cafe a couple of years ago - they still got it what a show - so many big tunes as well
Yo found your channel a couple weeks ago dude this is the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life. as a person who's always enjoyed making beats and playing around with making beats this is very entertaining. thank you, your production your effort, your music ability, your knowledge...good job man keep it up
🙏🙏 I appreciate you
So many memories attached to this song
Amazing channel with amazing videos discussing amazing things 💯
Damn!!! He even brought up twin hype. For those who like to groove was in my crate too. This video brought back memories of my best partying ever. 💯😂🤗👊🏽
Great video ! I was a huge hip house fan back in the day.
Great video as always! Cheers man
bruh you taking me way back lol. i love this channel
Awesome, I just played a gig with these legends in Yakima WA earlier this month. Such a good show, nice video!!!
Used to have this one on vinyl back in the day. Great track.
It’d be great to see a video mapping out the sub-genres of hip hop over time - that’s a big task but you’re the guy to do it!
I just discovered this channel and I can’t stop binge watching!! These are the same tracks I played to a reluctant audience back when I was in high school as a DJ, only for them to embrace the love of hip-hop/house/electronic etc. music that I had. Hearing the back stories only makes me proud to be in tune with the future of music back then. Consider me subscribed!!!
Great video, loved the history behind this icomic track. As a UK DJ this was the kinda stuff I was playing when I first started, so many great memories and tracks from back then....Mr.Lee, Tyree Cooper, Fast Eddie, Deskee, Cookie Crew, Bomb The Bass
If you think it's Dope now you should have heard it when it was released. FIRE.....very good days.🎉
to the batmobile- lets go!
11 minutes 47 seconds of goose bumps .. 😍
loving your channel bro.
Todd (The God) Terry is an absolute legend. If it wasn't for him this would have never existed or happened.
Yoyo Get Funky with DJ Fast Eddie is for me the ultimate Hip House track. I would love to hear newly produced Hip House tracks!
They were great!!
Great video! Hello from Brazil. I Love your channel.
Great video once again! You never dissappoint
🙏🙏
As a Chicago native, I hate to be that guy but if it weren't for the Godfather of Hip House,, Fast Eddie and DJ Sundance there would be no Hip House! While everyone else in the country kept crapping on Chicago rap and their artists, we forged the genre as an off shoot to the House music we created and Fast Eddie was the pioneer of this around 1982-1984! After all of these years, Chicago still gets no respect for it's input in rap or the genre Chicago created, Hip House also using the same House music Chicago also created!
Lifelong house head and devotee from UK here. This era was a bit before my time so really interesting comment. I would have thought that was the case as well. I imagine folks such as Tyree, Rocky Jones, DJ Int, WBMX, Mike Dunn might have played a part also? I really like some hip-house records but a fair few don’t do anything for me. I know he was a bit later but I loved Bernard Badie’s take on it. Big love and respect to Chicago ❤
No one is going to toot the Chicago horn *BUT* Chicagoans… so you *HAVE* to do it!!! Let the truth be known… btw, “Move Your Body” was produced by Adonis, NOT MARSHALL… Marshall is a thief.
True. It's such a shame that there are some people that believe House or Dance Music is created by and only for gay people.
@@TheLobMoben.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Move_Your_Body_(Marshall_Jefferson_song)
Lifelong house head from day one..alot of people outside of Chitown don't know it started there...im from the DC area I know it came from Chicago at "The Warehouse" Frankie Knuckes...Move Your Body was the 1st one I heard...I got into deep house because of a duo in DC, Deep Dish and my journey never ended to this day....house music is a vibe, it's a feeling like no other genre...you can vibe to alot of music, but house is a vibe...there is a difference
Being from the DMV hearing a hip hop/house music mention gogo gave me chills and like all styles mentioned.
I have been completely obsessed with this song recently
Manifesting you meet Q-Tip one day ✨🔥
🔥🔥🔥
OH MY GOD THE CLASSIC OF ALL CLASSICS!!!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
🔥🔥🔥
So good!
Nobody EVER talks about this song. Great video
Saw them in August at a block party in Harlem! AMAZING!
Love JBs. This channel is the truth
Great moment in my time.
It was this jam that made us create “Do It To The Crowd” with Twin Hype. 🔥💯
Played that to death back then…….🤩 Still sounds great bro-Real fire )))
💣
This was my, joint back in the day!
Yessss, please go deeper on House Music history
I remember I bought this album in 1988 "US pressing". I was d*mn when I heared the record I'll House You... I loved it (still).
Soo good. Thanks.
I love the jungle Brothers group record baby bam
WATER! .....man I love this channel!
I like Baby Bam's Anpanman sweater!
As a DJ/MC, I've always been the guy who does his homework and studies history. Your content is entertaining, as well as informative. I may have to bless you with a theme song for your platform 🤔😉👍
NO WAY YOU'RE A DJ AND MC?? 😂 TWO TURNTABLES AND A MICROPHONE? STELLAR FEAT BRO
Great video. Can we have a deep dive into Detroit Techno one of these days?
"Straight out the jungle" was my first rap album. Bought it used from another kid. I was like 13 yo.
I still think it is one of the greatest rap / hip hop albums of all time. It is so raw, funny and filled with pure joy and creativity.
Not sure it was my first, but must be in the first five. Remembering reading the sleeve notes to death
It was an honor to open for them
Absolutely love this dude! Been jamming to blackbox all week, any chance of a breakdown of them?
Amazing to know the record label did not even include what turned out to be the biggest track. I still know the words off by heart.
The print on the wall behind Bam is Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Becall from Key Largo
YUSSSS
great channel Loved your Mos Def Mathematics Vid... Do you have anything on Alchemist coming out?
YES✊🏽💯
Yeah! .... Acid House at the time Todd Terry was the Man doing the cuts.
Lets get a breakdown of some "Done by the Forces of Nature" tracks!!!!!!
A great album but poor mastering. Every copy I had played low.
Twin Hype - Do It To the Crowd = GOAT Hip house tune.
GREAT BTS WITH HOUSE MUSIC::)
In the words of DJ Khaled! “Another one” Love the JB’s and this track was my first introduction to the group. Love your channel and all of your great content. Salute!

Str8 out da jungle❗✌🏾
Hip House! Amazing music, raw fusion of the day.
Who remembers Ragga House? Barely got out of the blocks! But Daddy Freddy made a great track and they DID try! 😅
Oh yeah baby I'm diggin it🤌
Top ten house music song
One of my first albums! 😂
Classic 🔥🔥🔥
Most major east coast groups or artistes had a house track on their album at that time, Queen Latifah, Poor Righteous Teaches, Jungle Brothers and others
Yeah. This is still the jam. Shout out to Tyree Cooper, Twin Hype, Double J, 45 King. Some good times.
& When DJ David did a spin on a turntable at the DMC whilst it played.. my goodness.
Afrika Baby Bam with the Bogart-Bacall photo. NICE! BTW, Key Largo, 1948.
Evrty album i bought for about two years had a housetrack on it and it used to make me mad. Def Jef. Kool Moe Dee, 3rd BASS???? I lovrd in a place where that kind of music just wasn’t hot. So I didn’t get it. Glad you gave me a second chance…
Dont forget about the legendary D+B remix of Jungle Brothers
These are the kind of videos (TV shows) MTV would play if they were truly music television
I wouldn't say Jungle Brothers "I'll House You" is ONE of the most important songs in hip-house history. I'd argue that it is THE most important song in hip-house history.
As a fan of both, and I did a dissertation at uni on the evolution of disco/funk to house, hip-hop and house always stemmed from the same thing but took a different approach. It probably explains why I loved house music and hip-hop through my teen years.
I was about 14 when the re-release/remixed version of I'll House you was peaking in 1998 and, as a young, aspiring DJ, it was my introduction to hip-house. Hip-house definitely changed over the next few years but, without JBs, it wouldn't have even been a thing.
Also, my first ever concert I went to was Beastie Boys in Manchester in 1997 or 1998, and the Jungle Brothers were the warm up act. At the time, I was genuinely more excited about seeing them than the Beasties. I can't say I'd feel the same now, but I'd still be pumped about the JBs.
more hip house histories please
I lost 7 pounds at a JBeeze show once. Venue was 100+ degrees.
You’ve gotta do a Blowout Comb ep. This ep with Baby Bam was great.
jungle brothers saved hip hop by doing I'll house you. House music was taking over NY until this song and after this it was the tribe.

THE BEST!
props for giving Red Alert his props!
I love the JB'S, they made a superb contribution to hip hop in the late 80's and 90's, I don't really feel they get their deserved props as much as Tribe and De La, maybe that's just me but they don't seem to get name checked as much by most hip hop fans. The industry going in the general gangsta direction in the early to mid 90's probably played a big part, seen as that's the opposite of what they were about. Respect To Baby Bam, Mike G and Sammy B anyway, thank you for the music 🙏👏👌❤
Dude you need to do a DJ Shadow “Endtroducing” episode!
Is that "Double Indemnity" poster in the background?
