I never really experienced racing games on the n64! But Now I am seriously gonna find a way t! this looks great! back when music and physics of games were all different and fun as hell!
You guys gotta understand that N64 cartridges at the time this game was released were small in space, they were usually 16-32mb with the exception of Conker's Bad Fur Day which used a 64mb cartridge but that was released 2 years after this game, due to the max space N64 cartridges had at the time, the N64 cannot have everything from the arcade version
These games were so awesome... no realistic physics, you could floor the pedal and enjoy unrestrained pure speed. Today's uber-realistic games are ok, but you lose a lot when your car handles like a real car.
I tried out Rush and Ridge Racer 64. I still think this one's better. There is one full conclusion I've made though. The music in them (except for RR64) really isn't that good. But I can just turn it off and play my own. Emulation rocks.
Damn this was like my favorite racing game when I was like 10. I hate it nowadays because it's so boring and painfully mediocre. You're better off playing games like Burnout Revenge, Blur, Mario Kart 8, Forza Horizon 4, or Split/Second if you're looking for exciting racing games.
While this was a cool game. Even for the day, the graphics were really lacking. It was becoming very apparent very fast that the N64 had multiple issues with it at the time. Using a cartridge even at that time I thought was a really dumb move by Nintendo and it would tank Nintendo and cause PlayStation to win out. I was really hoping that Nintendo would use the newly released DVD format.
people today eat own words, they complained about any midway games for nothing (was the only games that gave a lot of fun and hours of gameplay), and because of it, midway died, and today we have a lot of shit games that just change the name, but they are the same boring stiff gameplay, nfs, the crew, and others shits that has a terrible controls that disgust, and also not work with internet to play offline. california speed and cuisins was a "lite" version compared to rush saga, but they was way better than these modern games. congratulations to the fucking generation that ruined the good games with retarded complaints, this smooth and comfortable gameplay focused in fun, we will never have it again. everything was awesome before drugs and bitchs, this new generation with shit games, running from the police and killing old ladies was the begin of the death of gaming world.
Midway doesn't exist anymore because of the bad decisions of Atari. And still exist decent modern arcade racing games, the fault doesn't are from the new players generation, its from the crap new CEOs of the game industry that only only cares about money.
The Nintendo 64 version not even the half of the arcade version. The Nintendo 64 version is a teasing, poor graphic, 0 animations (the drivers appear like a dummies), no trophy girls, race announces removed, object in the street (and not only humans and animals, but any object that fly away if hit) removed... This version not is California speed!

@@boxMAN29 A lot of other games didn't need to cut content, California Speed songs are made with pieces to save space and animations and features missing are simply ASM code that could need of 1KB of space to stay large, wasn't a space issue, but a bad programming instead.
This is an underrated game imo
It's just sad that Midway is gone now...We won't ever see racing games like this and San Francisco RUSH anymore..:c
The music brings me back to the late 90's
My Childhood:
Cruisin' USA
Cruisin' The World
Cruisin' Exotice
California Speed
My childhood:
Sanatorium
prison
gulags
now this is what music in a car racing game is supposed to sound like
dayum, that mlg 360° no-scope mtndew pickup!
just got this game in the mail and played it for hours i love the music and gameplay this is a must buy for the n64
I never really experienced racing games on the n64! But Now I am seriously gonna find a way t! this looks great! back when music and physics of games were all different and fun as hell!
Loved the cars, the courses, and the music. I played this for hours as a kid. ( I also had the steering wheel and pedals) so it was sooooo cool
Ahh memories
I just played this for the first time today. It's awesome.

Some content from the Arcade version was removed due of the censorship, like the girl with bikini and hit pedestrians.
@@Victor_2000s This was done to make the game have an E rating, They had to censor Cruis'n World too
@@boxMAN29 How violent games like Perfect Dark and Conquer was licensed by Nintendo without censorship?
I always drove the Golf Cart...
Nice gameplay. :) That game looks fun.
Loved this game as a kid. I could fall asleep at the wheel and still come in 3rd! :D

This game is so memorable!:')
@bunner321 it's actually the best racing game I've ever played. I still play it :P
I never realized that some of the cars from this were later brought into Rush 2 and 2049, as well as some of the sound effects.
Only the Mercury Eight was reused in Rush 2.
I like this game
On your mark, get set, GO!
Checkpoint!
aghhh this game was my fucking shit when I was younger.
Emulation.
Honestly, I like the graphics
i recognised the unfair steering like san fransisco rush 64 and realised, yep, midway. no wonder.. :)
/stalks you thanks to youtube
This game was fun but I still preferred Rush and Crusin' USA/World. There needs to be more games like this nowadays.
exactly. I'm sick of realism getting in the way of my fun.
and most musics are removed and replaced! Bleah!
These kind of games had breaks. But honestly who ever used it?
Like how he paused on the RV 0:32
My fav car is the sled. With rims 3.
how did you unlock that car?
What game is like this but you can hotrod the cars?
Hot Rod?
Why do the cars look so flat?
Rocco siffredi Probably because its being stretched for wide-mode.

What is this a remake of crusin
Obviously no, this game was made in the same time with Cruis'n.

@londonpythons716 uuuh...did ya try the rush series. Check it out & you will switch your cartridges

They should've ported this game to either PS1 or Dreamcast...

@@CruisnEma Actually the N64 itself had limitations too
@@boxMAN29 Sure. However good developers could made it possible with the right effort.
Is copy from cruis 'n usa nes 64
Obviously no, its a different game with different idea.
C
This is just a rip-off or Cruis`n. It`s just as bad.
Obviously no, its a different game with different idea. That game was made by the same developers of Cruis'n.
no..it wasnt that fun,believe me...mediocre
Actually is fun.
