Michael Sembello was the guitarist on Sir Duke, he was a classmate of mine . He was the best guitarist in school no doubt in my mind. He studied under Chuck Anderson in Ardmore, Pa.
Thank you so much for this! Straight and to the point. This is the very first guitar riff im learning. I know my chords really well but I don't know my scales. This is forcing me to get my pentatonic scales under my belt. Thank you!
That's awesome... Perfect... Spot on dude! I am trying to perfect that using a Roland GR 20 Guitar Synth. The trumpet sounds on the GR 20 sounds almost the same as the original sound on the recording. I just can't play it as spot on as you do but thanks for your tutorial i am getting there. 😆
Anyway. I don’t know yet if it’s more easy the way your are playing it. But ( I just want to see how others approach this great songs) I just listen but often I play all parts and as on the record I tend to stay in the same key. Like this. 🇩🇰👍🏼🎸

Riff is in B maj pentatonic I think (relative minor is G#).
Thank you so much.
I'm not a bad guitarist, but I am teachable, and this is very helpful.
No problem :)

when you play the chords E9 D#9 D9....ecc ecc ...the last chord of the progression is wrong (isn't a G9 but a F#9!)
Thanks

The G and F# chords (riff) arent quite like in the original. They should be in a higher register I think.
Dragobert M Yeah, they should be G9 and F#9 farther up the neck
is this song in "b"?
Yes buddy
are the chorus chords the same as the verse and do they play the same way?
No. They have different chords
