In "The Stones of Muncaster Cathedral" by Robert Westall, Joe Clarke, a seasoned steeplejack, faces an unimaginable terror as he is hired to repair the stonework of Muncaster Cathedral's spire. The cathedral harbors a malevolent gargoyle that exudes evil influences, impacting Joe's work and threatening his family, especially his son. The chilling narrative escalates as the gargoyle's malevolent intentions unfold, targeting young boys in the neighborhood, culminating in a harrowing, horrifying conclusion. This eerie tale, deeply rooted in the ghost story tradition of M.R. James, masterfully evokes suspense and dread, leading to a dramatic and spine-chilling finale.

Is the soundtrack too fast, or is the main character Joe Clark speaking too quickly? I'm finding him incredibly difficult to understand.

Ineffably engrossing. Sort of a pastiche of M R james yet kept us hooked till the end. A masterpiece indeed. Thanks
