This is one of the best no bullshit channel,s for car enthusiasts on the tube....for real world working class dad's and mums, just shows that you don't need exotica big buck cars to live the dream. I'm an Rx8 owner in the UK, learnt alot from your build on your own car.....I hate to think of a day when internal combustion is over, god bless the boys behind the hydrogen projects we keep hearing about to keep our dreams alive over electric boredom that seems like a bad dream. Keep up the good work boys.
I would like to see LHT performance do a comparison on that intake compared to their stock intake with airbox mod because every intake that they have back to back tested on their stock AP2 has not made more HP then their stock intake with airbox mod
I think he saw your post because he just did this on Thanksgiving. The basic takeaway is that you can't do much better than the airbox mod; you end up spending big buck for 1-2 horsepower in a small part of the band.
The Spoon headgasket and machined head really made the Timing Gear beneficial. On a non-machined bolt on engine it wouldn't see the same gains. I can't wait to see how this turned out for you Quinn!!
Hey mate. I did an AP1 All Motor build. 75mm custom intake pipe with 4inch k & n filter, 70mm ballade throttle body, ported intake manifold, ballade big tube header, Berk 76mm exhaust, e85 with 550cc injectors, car made 223hp here in Australia. Aparently our dynos always read lower too
Oooooooh that looked like a one shot. WHAT A FUCKING BALLER. Research, development, all sorts of informational goodies about the platform, and he's good looking. In a one shot. Nice!
Really nice to see the honda back. I am a hardcore fan of the channel cause i share the same view for cars and driving. I don't know the economics on this build. From my point of view i would just install a rotrex as i think is the best solution per buck while it doesn't compromise the character of the engine
Great video, excited to see some more in depth engine content. Also fire up that milling machine because my k24 is running 12.5:1 on 93, so get that compression up.
Word up on the collector design. Recently had a big 1.2l blower Miata with rare BOIG header. The collector was much larger and the car made significantly more power with less boost. Sound changed as well.
Well myself I'm all about that supercharged life with the s2000's FRM (fiber reinforced metal) liners and the usable power the supercharger brings with not taking away from that beautiful f series all motor feel and the needed torque it is begging for boost but I'm also a big ran of the N/A road also and I'm more excited then if it was supercharged build cause I love N/A S2KS I've been mostly focused on the supercharged road so it will be a good change for me combine that with your insane passion and attention to detail both with the build and video it's gonna be a bannger very excited on my second s2k 1st 08 laguna blue sold now have a 2005 black 38 000kms last year for the cable throttle body before they went drive by wire I personally loved the feel of the 2005 more nothing like that mechanical connection to your foot I did notice the difference with both the drive by and throttle cable the drive by wire was not as responsive well good luck with the build one subscriber here from Canada that will be pouring over them details all the best cheers
I remember that in the video where you installed the Advan RG you introduced the motor. I guess I'm just an old follower :) interesting to see the dyno and to hear where you wanna go with the build. I'm starting to modifying mine, which I didn't dare to until now, still entirely OEM and I'm very excited about it. The car is low miles, entirely OEM, european 2006, so it's still an AP1, I feel we are the lucky ones in this case :)
@@TheSlipAngle I’m running it myself. A lot of manifolds don’t work that’s true so I was prepared to be disappointed but the result was excellent . Had DM u on insta
@@RacingS2000 What other mods are you running and how did the part affect the car? This is the next part on my list as I have finished the exhaust side and am working on the intake side
Nice car. VTEC is underrated if that's even possible to imagine. Most don't realise how absolutely massive the big lobes are. Even the factory cams are bigger than most race only cams for other engines. F20c IIRC is something like 13mm lift and over 300 degrees duration. That's insane. If it had manual steering it would be for men but as it stands a humble NA6 stripper is more manly to me.
This video is literally car p0rn. So good! I really enjoy you going down the NA-build path. I have an 06+ S2k so I am debating going the S/C route. I just don’t know if the F22C1 would respond as well to all these NA mods like the F20C does, but I’d be curious to hear your thoughts Quinn!
More displacement or you won't gain much no matter what. Header and Balladecams did push my F22c quiet a bit further. The Cams did a lot down low but gained nothing up top.
Awesome video, thx for the info. Although, I'm a S2000 rookie ('02 sebring silver), and I still don't get why is it sooo hard to get more NA hp. I feel like it's too much work for 30-35 hp.
This is exciting because i own a prelude and well.... the s2000 kind of evolved from the prelude. And im working towards making it better aswell.... even if i dump all of my money into it lmao
kinda related kind of unrelated. i have an 03 NB shinsen that’s pretty clean with no rust and 55k miles with just coilovers, wheels and tires. but i want more and i’m torn between turbo charging my nb with a stage 1 FM kit and just buying an s2k. I do enjoy the NA type of feeling but i’m also into turbo power and excitement. do you have any tips or words of guidance for me as i try to make my decision?

Hi Quinn, if you are concerned about the complexity that an ITB introduces you could consider the PracWorks carbon intake manifold
Is there any relevant test data for it? A lot of manifolds look good on paper but don't perform how people want them to

I agree on the VTEC. People remove the electronic steering pump, but it's so good I don't know why you would.

I think you should consider Urge scavenger midpipe. I use complete exhaust, which was developed by Gernsby and it helped the midrange alot!
Do you have a dyno of before and after?
That intro shieeet!!!! Looking forward to the results.

Nice build, did you upgrade the valve retainers, keepers and oil jet bolts with AP2 parts?
Supertech Titanium Retainers
It's called passion for your subject ;) :).
PS. About time :p.
😉
I love all the green in the engine bay. Was that a package sold somewhere or is it custom?
Metalcast green on the valvecover and anodized aluminum hardware from various sources
good video, any chance an aftermarket intake manifold would help?
Yes it would but the problem is that no one seems to make one that works well with smaller displacement and milder cams

Hey there,
What valve spring rate did you go with for the valve springs? Also how did you figure out which would work best for you?
Supertech Dual Springs. I wanted singles because I didn't need that stiff but they were not available at the time.

No ITB' s keep it like this, maybe test out a the skunk2 intake manifold if its better than the oem one..

So the fluid damper is ok to run on stock internals? somebody on S2000 forms said it was harmful at low RPMs on a stock internal engine??
It's better than the stock harmonic balancer. You don't want to run a lightweight pulley that has no harmonic balancer
