Check with some local churches that may give food to those in need. There is a church near me that has free food every week---no paper work required! I take things to them all the time and they are so grateful.
Dear Shannon, I‘m following you for a while now. I am apreciate what you are doing. I am from Germany and I am also saving food. At my beginning, few years ago, I also started with dumpster diving. But, you know, it‘s illegal in Germany and you can go to jail, if the police catch you. So, We built a community, that collect still good food from the stores and bring it to little shads. They are always in a central point of a town, so that people in need can get their food from. It needed some time to do that, but our Community is growing and people don‘t care from where the food is coming. I hope, this will be an opportunity for you. You could always ask the workers at the no kill shelter if they would like some of the stuff you rescue out of the dumpsters.
Also ask your colleagues at work Shannon I'm sure they wouldn't say no to some food and pop
ABSOLUTELY, too many take pets to the shelter because they can't afford to feed them. Our shelter will give out pet food to struggling families, but they also need donations for the shelter pets. A shelter would be a GREAT sight for a little free pantry for both people and pets.
A lot of churches in my area have food pantries. They can take whatever donations they want. So please check with your local churches. ❤
We have a food porch here at the local church. No questions asked. Take what you need let anything you want as long as its for or personal hygiene items. Any one that needs the stuff may take it. No one is standing there watching. There are cameras to prevent vandalism. Its a good thing. Plus they are allowed animal products.
Maybe someone in your area knows of community blessing boxes and can meet up with you to get food you findm then and they can place it in the boxes. It might not take any more time than you spend taking it to the food bank. There are 3 or 4 in my community, and I see videos of many divers who regularly fill boxes with their finds.
The waste is unbelievably. Go figure the government! They screw things up every time! You’re the best Miss Shannon.

I've seen people dumpster diving on other channels on UA-cam and they put them in the little food pantries in their neighbourhood

Unfortunately my community isn’t one that would be in need… I live in a housing development & I’d need to go thru our housing authority (ugh 😩) & I know they wouldn’t go for it…. Plus I love on the outskirts of the city. I’d rather go into the local city where people can walk to a blessing box or church. I’m hoping to find a church that will allow drop off donations. The one that has the blessing box it’s the size of a medicine cabinet & they first need to check the items over & it takes them over a month to put the food in the box. That’s when I got so frustrated & asked if any of my subs knew of anything else I could do w the items & that’s when Tara emailed me & we started donating to all the awesome places we donate to now ☺️

If you feel comfortable, you can build your own little pantry for the needy. Just like some people have little libraries, some have little food boxes for the needy. You can place the box near the edge of your yard.
Oh, and if you ever go to a pet store and find guinea pig food such as hay and pellets, I can bet there is a guinea pig family or shelter that needs those. Little ones like the 3 I have are becoming more and more popular.
Shannon some states have blessings boxes where you can donate the food. You could also reach out to the churches in your area. They often will take food.
What an arbitrary decision from our government officials. More rules & regulations mean less help for the vulnerable citizens of our communities. I'm sad for the loss. Perhaps attending your town hall meeting when there is an open discussion to bring up this issue and ask for alternative solutions.

Offer your items to churches Shannon! Offer your items to Boys & Girls clubs. Fill up those little boxes that look like bird houses & offer your items to Communty Centers.

I am surprised that church pantries around your area aren't ringing your phone off the hook!! Check with ALL denominations. They will take other things besides food, a lot of them have clothes closets and use season decor for their classrooms. In other words, I know some of the churches will take anything that their members, or members of the community may need, such as school supplies! Keep up the good work Shannon!!! I’m glad your elbow is feeling better Shannon. Food banks facing crisis as people can’t afford to donate money or food like they used to and now not accepting your donations? Once again, I’m left shaking my head. 🙁 I hope the people higher up are prepared to open their wallets! What a shame that decision-makers aren’t asking more questions and going to see the situation for themselves before cutting off a source of donations. They could come out to help you dumpster dive, Shannon. 😊
Here in my community, many schools have started their own in school pantries!! And its all donations, no government interference. Check around...good luck!!!

Sometimes, when I give to the food pantry, I run into people coming or going and offer if they want what I am bringing.
Shannon, check out places where you could have a Blessing Box built to fill with your items. Even churches might go in with you to build one or have somewhere already to store items.. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a little pantry where folks in need could pick up things they could use. Good luck in finding some place. I know you enjoy dumpster diving and I, for one enjoy watching you! I will never understand why all those stores do not donate and write it off rather than dump everything.
I agree with the other comments. Blessing boxes are a great idea. Find a local church and see if you can start supplying them. I am sure they will agree ❤❤

You should check to see if you have Blessing boxes in your area. I see a lot of other dumpster divers taking what they get from the dumpster and filling up the Blessing boxes. Its another great way to help out people and theres no red tape and they dont have to fill out paperwork to get the help.

A local food pantry would be the perfect play to donate food. Like the ones that are connected to thrift stores and libraries.
See if you can get local churches to take it or set up blessing boxes, where anyone can donate or take food from.

Do you guys have in your community they're called little pantries they're little boxes where homeless people can go or anybody can go and get whatever food products or whatever is in those little boxes we have them all over our community I will start putting them there I see a lot of other dumpster divers that do that because these food banks no longer will accept their food
Blessing boxes! We have 2 in our tiny town that my husband and I put things in that we find.
Great Idea!! We have Blessing boxes in our area that we put food in. They are usually where churches, libraries and county extention offices are.
Build blessing boxes and fill it up
We also have blessing boxes we donate to here . And you could ride around and if there are homeless in your area give them the food they really appreciate at . Some people don't have anything this time of year . We make up bags every Christmas and hand them all out every year at Christmas
I had that same thing happen to me with a local pantry so now I take all the food, etc. to little blessing boxes in my area.
At our local senior center we often set things out on one of the tables for others to take if they desire. Perhaps a church can use those food items to hand out or homeless shelter.
Your such a wonderful person Shannon and I think the Lord will lead you to another organization that can use the food. Don't give up we're all behind you and the work you do for others.

Also, reach out to the local VFW ( where the veterans hang out at). They may be willing to take it. If not for themselves they may be willing to disperse it to those in need !
Yes food pantries boxes where you just fill these big stand up boxes with food people take what they need. Or a church with family with needs .
Are there any little free pantries in your area (churches) or at your kids school? All 8 of our schools have them here and people keep them well stocked with essentials and all kinds of foods and treats. You and people need to check out their surroundings too! I am a lunch lady so I have seen and learned a lot and I live in an area that says it's "middle to upper" class. Like anyplace there are always low income areas or people who fall on hard times for whatever reason. Bless you for all you do and weekly I shop sale items to help the little pantry out at the school I work at.

There are some stand alone food donation boxes in my city and some churches have food pantries.

I live north of the city. There are blessing boxes at 3 different churches that are only 5 minutes from my house. I’m sure a lot of the churches around you have them.

A lot of churches have food banks with no restrictions or proof of income. It’s not required that you donate a certain amount. Just free food for whoever shows up.
Hey Shannon. Some people need food at the community pantrys. Even if ypu don't have one close, you can team up and create ones. Have some crew that creates and refills the community pantrys scatered around the city. People are always needing help, you will find someone.

You could put a charity closet and fill it with finds... you can find numerous ones in Iowa. A small shed with shelves.
Shannon, have you contacted your local food kitchens? Are they under the same rules and regulations as the food bank? They feed the hungry every day and always need groceries. How about local churches that have grocery pantrys or feed the hungry? Soup kitchens feed hundreds per day, there must be a way to give to them. The best of luck to you, God will provide.
How dare they be so hateful, and say that. It's there job to help people get food help the community and children have enough food to eat. That just burns my biscuits.like you said that it's in a very large bag away from the dumpster juice. Ugh 🤬 some people's children!

If you can not find a blessing box or "free pantry" as they are called ,here see if you can build one. I've seen people use the metal cabinets w/doors, and others used preowned kitchen cabinets and put legs on it. Blessings to you. Also agree check with the Veterans

When I can't get it to them, I leave it near the book box at our local park and things are alwaya taken. Tons of families go there.

Shannon, some churches may have a food pantry and benevolent funds for those in need. Might check into it.
Do y’all have blessing boxes in your state? If so you can take food items to these boxes. If the boxes are small you can always leave a tote next to the boxes and someone will take the food. These are on first come first basis. They are strictly volunteered basis and not regulated by government or state. Hope this helps.
Check out the pantry boxes that most towns have that is where I take a lot of my non perishable food items. Good luck keep up the good work

Do u have a Community action building in ur area? I always take food there and to SAFE. Also if u have pantry boxes or small sheds they r great to put food in.. maybe Starr a pantry in a high populated homeless area. U do such amazing things for people. Thank u for all u do.

Look for local food pantries. I volunteer at the Good Samaritan Thrift and all proceeds from items sold go to purchase food for the pantry. Often food donations are dropped as donations and it goes to the food pantry. No questions asked. I’m sure someone in your area can suggest other sources to donate the food and pop to keep it out of the landfill. Keep doing what you do so well. Do you have group's who feed the homeless near you? In Australia we have food kitchen's. Today we are hosting a very large Christmas party for the needy . People will have a meal of hot and cold food plus hampers and gift

Salvation Army maybe, churches and churches and churches never ask questions. Homeless Camps under bridges or beside bus stops. Smaller towns towns may not ask questions if you just leave it where they come and get food. I’m so sorry. Love 💕 and Hugs. ❤❤❤
I’m a part of a local FB free group. I’m honest about where stuff comes from- if it’s stuff I can’t use I post it there. Families in need definitely check that page all the time! I’ve called a lot of food banks too, some will take things.

Other dumpster divers I watch have food donation boxes (like library boxes) throughout their community that they can fill up with anything they find. See if there are some around your area.

Churches take donations of food, and other things. You can also ask private nursing homes as some take donations. Food banks up here are doing the same thing. Have a great day my friend ❤️🙂⚘️.
Shannon, maybe somewhere near you is a food closet? I don’t know what they might call them there, but essentially they are an enclosed “closet” some with a window on the front, that people donate to. Anyone can donate, anyone can take from it.
We have multi blessing boxes around town. Ingenious is the one who took bookshelves and they have individual pull down doors like the old barrister book cases. The ones near schools have individually packed food bags for over the weekends for the kids also school supplies , backpacks,,stacks of puzzle books and story books. It goes on all year and double packed for summer when school is out. We also have a large food bank and a lot of churches and the Salvation Army have pantries. We try hard to combat hunger and homelessness.
Shannon, reach out to churches, non subsidized veterans pantry’s. We have one in our closest town. Free stores, we have one. Non subsidized charities. There are numerous non governmental groups….. reach out. Phone calls or mass emails.
