The Hatchling is a boost for your bird power. You need to feed your hatchling when it's Hungry or Starving, but in order to do that, you will need food. You can find apples in the shop, or by playing the game. If you don't feed your hatchling enough, it will leave, and your bird power will reset. You will then get a new egg, and start over from level 1. Feed your hatchling when it's hungry or starving so it never leaves.
I kinda hate how there's a timer on feeding the hatchling and then they just go away if you don't feed them. Like we can't just keep track of our hatchling everyday man... we have lives.

I disagree! Hatchlings are also boosts for your bird power! If you never feed it, your bird power resets! You can find apples by opening chests and playing the game. Tho, it's worth noting that you should keep it at level 4 at max! I will make a video sometime this month to help you if you dare to upgrade it to level 5 and above!!
Mine has been level 3 for a while because this costs me 25 apples and I can get more from daily challenges, king pig panic and the fortune tower. I found that upgrading the slingshot and bird levels progressively increase my power level.
