All are naive because there's no representative talking about the rights and wrong of operating a plant not only one but many on the entire island. The people only see its good for P.R economy. But they are all wrong at the end and all will likely lose out. All likely will regret not having to know about the dangers of having a several unreliable pharmaceutical plant
Big Pharma came to the island to exploit their NO TAX options not to enrich the island ,however they did pollute the hell out of the whole place and let's not forget that they used Puerto rican women as lab rats in the development of birth control pills .
Surely they employed a lot of people that desperately needed work but in the end they caused more harm than good .
But hey,it's just BUSINESS and they call the shots , right?
Puerto Rico has no natural resources and no other major industry. Why do you want to end the only thing bringing money to the island? You want Puerto Ricans to remain poor?
I lived in Barceloneta for a year, we couldn't drink or use the water, and it even smelled weird at the house... however, the beaches are beautiful!
How many dead fish are on the beaches due to chemical production
@@Former_Pastor no dead fishes here, the pharmaceutical companies used to vent a lot of gases here that give everything a weird chemical smell and also the water.

Will Puerto Ricans start paying federal income tax if it becomes a state?
They would pay taxes when, Alaska, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Florida, Texas, Wyoming, Washington, and Tennessee start paying taxes to the USA. But right now Puerto Rico's citizens are paying double import taxes on every item they buy because the items coming into the docks are taxed at the dock before going to the retailers where the individual buyer pays tax again. Isn't that neat ?

Built a huge very long underwater tube crossing the Atlantic and pump all the pharmaceutical drugs to Miami from PR and then truck them to the rest of the USA. That way hurricanes won't matter for distribution in the USA! Then built another huge very tall tube (chimney) to the stratosphere from Barceloneta and send all the smoke up there. Problems solved! 😜
