Bloody hell mate. I’ll say again. I wish we had someone like yourself in Australia to give us the same information on our flora and fauna. Enjoyed again mate.
Would you ever consider doing a hunter gathering course / retreat where you teach people who want to come and learn the knowledge in person through experience, charge a good price , I would love that man ?
Nice work bro. Do a video on Rewarewa. We have heaps of it around here, and it just annoys me because of how noisy it is to stalk in. Be good to know a bit more about it.
Awesome video mate. Always informative, educational & down to earth. Love your Mahi. Keep it wild buddy & good luck with your 100day challenge. Really looking forward to seeing how it went. Chur
Nice mate, was waiting for you to mention they weren't leaves! Technical term is a phylloclade. Love your work mate, keep keeping our bush safe. Nga mihi for the Mahi!
I think I read somewhere that the wood of the tanekaha is meant to be one of the most elastic available. Which appeals to me as someone who has made, and hunted with, my own bows and arrows...but I haven't made a bow from tanekaha yet. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes from Nelson.
@@philrobbie1670 I've made quite a few bows out of kanuka, but a lot of them broke. I found it best to make them longer so as not to over-bend them. One of my oldest surviving bows was made, I believe, from our native Olearia paniculata. Using that bow, and an arrow made from a fat, dried bracken stem I got a pig. It was possibly my most satisfying hunt ever. (I used synthetic string for the bow though... and the arrow blade was made from stainless steel sheet).
Your videos are so inspiring Shay, you remind me of David Attenborough, and I loved his programs, and passion and understanding of nature thru the decades Once again top work, keep the coming I hope viewers, like and subscribe to your channel, and send the link to it to others they know who they think would be interested, as I've done
