Institutions will simply build their own private chains and utilize something like layerzero or chainlink ccip on top of something like avax subnets or polkadot parachain or cosmos hub or even venom. Both xrp and ICP are similar kinds of boomer coins that think the future of finance will be built on a monolithic chain and not based on interoperability. At best, xrp will turn into a layer 2 for one of the bigger chains.

Payments was just a first application of blockchain technology ( or DTT).

I think the conversation needs to be brought broader. Brics has been in the works on a coin just like xrp, when the coin is announced internationally it will be the new leading coin in trade between China, Russia, India, Brazil etc. Unless the xrp can gain sway in western markets

I think you're right when it comes to other new crypto companies and tokens but Ripple and XRP do not have that advantage over the JP Morgans of the world! Those big, already established companies already have all those relationships built. That's why Ripple got sued by the SEC. The SEC was told to slow them down so that BIG MONEY could catch up.
