I have this down as your best video yet. Great narrative, lovely scenery in a unique, quiet location which is a ham’s dream. Great work 73
1000% agree with you
Thanks Tim. I would have to agree with you. From an editing standpoint, I’ve never spent more time on a video than this one.
My favorite video moment is where you say “You POTA BRO”!
Great activation. I have to give a lot of credit for making ham radio fun. I have to believe that your enthusiasm really is a great motivator for many hams.
Top banana! Hilarious.. Hey Mike you can tighten those doingies a bit and tension elements? More downwards force I know..
I've found I don't want to tighten them too much. I've had the glue line heat shrink fail a few times so I like to keep them a little looser.
Mike: That is definitely a Yucca Plant! Great activation!
Fantastic site.
Very interesting video. Wonder if the Light House can be activated for Lighthouses on the Air?
If you feel liking hiking another 2.5 miles once we get there we can find out :)
Thanks for a great video Mike. Didn’t get to log this one for some reason. Glad y’all had fun.
Great video, great QTH!
That place is known as Army Hole. Very popular with small sail boat sailors as a waypoint camp. An event that takes place in June the TX 200 stops there as one of the camps.
Finally got a QSO with you on this park. I felt the same way as the guy on video about always trying. Thanks for what you do!
Awesome. You are one of the few to have that park as a hunter!
Great video Mike....awesome job with the editing and the extra narrative compared to some of your other older videos🤟
Hey thanks for that. Glad to hear my hard work is paying off. I spent a LOT of time both filming and editing this.
I was hoping to be the first this summer. Oh well there's other parks to be had. Congrats to y'all on being first!
Sorry, not sorry! I think there's one or two left in the area that haven't been activated yet.
Great effort Mike, I always enjoy your videos and congrats on a virgin POTA. For some reason the video quality was crazy pixilated, but your radio voice came through perfectly. Take care and keep having fun!
Thanks. I shoot 1080p 60fps. May want to refresh your browser.
@@hamradiotube Will give that a try....take care.
Great video Mike - really good stuff - enjoyed this a lot. Regards to
the guys.
Thanks Mike! You are THE POTA guy, demonstrating how-tos, making it accessible and fun! Everything you do is a great job! Wanted to show some appreciation! De K1MAZ Nathan
Hey look at that! Thanks Nathan, I super appreciate it!
Great activation guys. Quite the effort, congratulations. I have POTA envy operating from a picnic table next to my truck 🤣
The greater the effort the greater the reward.
Looks like y'all had a fun time, that was so cool getting your dad from Florida.
It was!
The Matagorda video! That was such a fun time!
Dillon!!
Buccees should be a State Historical Sight=Activadable
I know. I so want to do Buc-ee's on the air!
heart attacks FOR EVERYBODY
You always make this look like fun!
Nah, having fun makes it look fun!
@@hamradiotube You do have a point.
That was a real Gem of an ATNO. Unbelievable that no one had already snagged it. Thanks for another great video Mike....and thank you to Scott for the P2P into Matagorda Island! 73 de Chris WA7RAR
Dave Casler does not approve of that antenna selection. POKE POKE
Pretty sure you were looking at a Yucca plant in bloom.
Hmm. Good to know.
hey great video Mike! looks like you guys had a great time!
It was a blast!
Way to go! Just wish I was able to make contact with one of you guys that day. Always another time. 73!
It was during a big solar storm that pretty much wiped out all of the bands. 20 was the only one we were able to reliably get out on. It was tough.
@@hamradiotube That day was pretty weird, but I was able to get 13 on 15m during my activation.
Great video guys! Hey, "If you ain't first, you're last!" I think Ricky Bobby said that...LOL
Shake & Bake!
Nice activation.
Thank you, it was a blast!
Next time, try those straight out of bed early video recordings with both eyes open 🤪 Great job guys. A great feeling to be the first.
That wasn’t even the first video I shot. I had one right after I got out of the shower that I cut. I’m sure a lot of people will be glad I made that decision.
MAN! One of the best, you keep doing awesome work. One thing if you ever get time could you do a small vid on the filters you had in line? I don't have much experience with them, how do they work, how do the help? Otherwise thanks for the content. 73 KY4DOC
Where did you buy the band filters?
They were just loaners but you can get them at DX Engineering.
HI nice Mike thanks for video NICE/NICE --- as it goes 10/4 man
Oh dark early. Great place.
Great video, looks like fun. How many radials did you put down for the DX Commander?
Just the prescribed 5 bunches of 4, 3.5 meter wires.
Brisket for breakfast @ 6am!!! America!!!!!!!!! (dear Buc-ee's please come to WI...)
I’m gonna have bucees for dinner tonight too!
Good morning Mike wow what a great video. It looks like y’all had a complete blast. Imagine the noise level was nothing. I have a question when you was putting together
the DX commander does it take you very long to set it up? And also congratulations on the aeronautical mobile at 39,000 feet now that’s cool!!! I hope you have a great weekend take care and thank you for videotaping that beautiful park.
WD5ENH
Steve
Thanks Steve. It was a lot of fun. The DXC usually takes about 15 minutes to put together. It’s not bad at all.
Hey Mike, nice work. Why did you bring the band pass filter? Did it end up doing anything for you?
Because 3 of us were operating at the same time. You need them to block out the other guys.
To bad there wasn't 8 foot sea's. LOL!
Also, what power are you using?
100 watts
Need to install a remotely activated tazer in the bed xD
Good idea!
What did the band pass filters do for you?
I'm guessing it stops them all interfering with each other in close proximity on different bands.
Would that island be an Iota activation as well?
No idea. Maybe.
BUC'EES!!!!!! Brisket Burrito in the morning. The only way to travel. Trust me. :)
They’re so good!
Come to Maine, but I charge $5,000 per hour on the boat. Sorry, cheeseburgers are expensive.
Too cold up there. You'd have to pay me $5000 for pain and suffering.
@@hamradiotube 81 degrees at 5 pm today.
@@1958johndeere620 That's not too bad I suppose. I will tell you, every time I've been to Maine I was amazed at how many beautiful women were up there. Do y'all freeze them in the winter to prevent them from escaping or something?
@@hamradiotube Most women I see have more hair under their arms then I do.
Very cool video Mike. very jalouse.. Hope to work you some day.. greeting Martin PA0KGB country admin The Netherlands, Luxemburg, Finland, Denmark and many more LOL
Just hop on a plane and come on over!
Hi Mike this would be a good field day site but also a good site yo get all the ham radio you tubers together to activate. 73 2E0FJQ
