Yoko Kanno is one of the best composers in the world you mean. Her work is unparalleled when it comes to anime musical score. I'd say she is head to head with Joe Hisaishi.
She's way better than Joe Hisaishi. She does totally different genres and absolutely kills at all of them - classical, jazz, pop... they're so different! To be able to do one is incredible, but she does all of them AND still makes every project unique and identifiable
Yoko Kanno and Yuki Kajiura are two masters of film and anime score. Pretty much any project they are involved with is guaranteed to be great, if by nothing else than the contribution of incredible music.
Whenever i hear this song i can picture Tsume, Hige and Blue lying dead covered in snow and Kiba walking on all alone...clutching the withered Lunar flower in his jaws...I always feel sad. What an amazing piece of work
I'm thinking that Kiba's the one constant thing throughout each rebirth the world goes through. Maybe each time, as they get a little bit closer to paradise, the wolves he was with forget their wolf nature, become human, and he has a different group. Every human is a wolf that just accepted the illusion, and it became real. This leads me to think: What if Kiba himself is an incarnation of the great spirit, unknowingly destined to return the world to the way it should be?
Old message but... one point someone noticed (and i keep recalling) it's that the outcome of the anime is also because of the presence of Darcia's eyes "tainting" the raquen (itself it was a labelled the result of a curse). The idea of incarnation isn't new because we see in the flashbacks Darcia-I with a white wolf identical to Kiba. Another interesting point it's the hints that Nobles aren't exactly human beings (either coming from another world or dimension, we also have flashbacks of it) so they are an intruding elements that altered the destiny of the world.
I watched this like more than 10 years ago when I was still in middle school. I'm now a full grown adult working in a compay and all. Aaaaaaaand I still have this song in my mp2 aaaaaaaaand I'm still nearly crying each time I listen to it. Yoko Kanno has been, is and will always be like a goddess for me. And particulary what she composed for Wolf's Rain which, more than 10 years later still manage to move me to tears each time I listen to the OSTs.
I know I've commented on this song in another videos comment section, but damn is this one beautiful song. Between Cowboy Bebop and Wolf's Rain Yoko Kanno has written some of my all time favorite anime sound tracks.
This song is amazing. The classical arrangement and the surreal, digital effects just create something indescribable. Kanno is certainly, absolutely gifted.
I think the pings and radio fuzz are the sounds of the old world dying as it freezes over, and from the climax to the end is one of the most beautiful and uplifting things I have ever heard, especially knowing the story. This is one of the few things that makes me wish I could cry.
"They say there's no such place....as paradise. Even if you search to the ends of the Earth, there's nothing there. No matter how far you walk, it's always the same road. It just goes on... and on... But in spite of that, why am I so driven to find it? A voice calls to me It says, "Search..... for Paradise!" " ~ Kiba
3:55 gives me the most intense chills ive ever had in my life. This is truly one of the best anime songs ive heard, ever. Yoko Kanno is amazing, just as she was on Cowboy Bebop, and Yu Yu Hakusho. Amazing theme !!!
I listened to this song before I watched wolf's rain. I thought It was pretty cool....Now I listen and cry like crazy! Listen! If anyone is reading this and they haven't seen the anime, please please watch it. One of the most beautiful series ever.
A woman accidentally bumped me on my way to school and knocked off some project papers and had been roadkilled by cars on the road. I spent half the day trying to recover the information i lost whilst listening to "Strangers" by Yokko Kanno. I met up with the woman again in the afternoon and she apologised again but I just gave her a hug and walked away. Oh wolfs rain! the things your music can do to ppl.
This song is so perfect... And the added effects like the radio static and blurred transmitted voices add so much to the track... Plus that break at 4:00---it really feels like your soul was drawn in and for left you hanging as if time had slowed down or stopped only for a short second...
Watching Wolf's rain for the third time, I ended up hugging my dog and sobbing 'It's going to be okay! It's going to be okay!' when I watched the last episodes. My dog just stared at me, probably wondered what I were doing.. anyway, this series is getting better, each time I rewatch it. It was probably three years since I saw it for the first time, and still, my favourite story ever, counting books, movies, animes, everything. Wolf's rain
as soon as I heard the music I started crying. Brings back the memories of the final moments of the world and the characters that froze with it..... fuck I need pizza.
Wolgore Wolf Yesssss the FEELS! Oh those feels! I've never really been an emotional person, but when I hear this song............ :'( "They say there's no such place as Paradise. Even if you search to the ends of the Earth, there's nothing there'...........'A voice calls to me... It says, "Search for Paradise."'
I literally... Watched the whole anime. Not only did the song make me cry but the thought of them going so far only to barely make it made me realize what kind of person I was... Which made me cry for 2 hours more. I still get the same reaction just thinking about it. I love this anime and I won't let it be toppled by any others. It has a special place in my heart.
I'm so glad that i'm not the only one that finds it beautiful to the point of tears. I really think this is one of the quintessential composers of our time!
I couldn't wait for this to come back. When my friend got the whole set for my birthday one year, I almost cried and it's now one of my most treasured material things. Thank you, Rebecca!
I think I'm already crying...sob...sob, the piano intro is so soothing, just makes me think of how good life can be even though it can be rough. The powerful chords and strings at 3:50 just make me feel that I could be a wolf! Yeah, it's a well-done, touching song. Yoko, you are unbelievable!!!
Love the radio part, almost like a wormhole opened into our world... As bitter as the ending world, it really did influence the theme that paradise wasn't a place to find, but rather the pursuit of the idea (with friends) and hope.
when your alone, you want to feel not alone. when hope is lost, you want to hold someones hand but not all hope is gone! we, who decend from wolves, will always find that one place... a place we call... PARADICE! ~me 5/5 such a lovely song...
One of the best Songs that if ever heard, love it. When you hear it you feel really sad but a little bit later you feel god, great Song with one of the most emotional Music if really heard. GREAT
Cry and jump at the same time for me, Sim Girl Kiss! I think that this song has the perfect ballance of sadness, melancholy, and victorious power that could ever be wanted! Way to go, Yoko! It just brings out the full range of human emotions in me. Dittos!!
ahh~ I love this song so very very much... its so near and dear to my heart, I feel like there is no other song in the world that'll make me feel this way... I just feel complete and at peace with the world when I listen. *sigh*
This is indeed an awesome track. I can easily feel Yoko Kanno's breath in listening. But, I'm very confused about what kind of feeelings or emotion this masterpiece contains. Though the end is surely sad, we can have a hope. But, ya, probably it's beyond description, isn't it ?
The emotive feel that underpins this work was pioneered by a symphonic composer arranger called Claus Ogerman in the 1960s and 1970s, especially in partnership with jazz legend pianist Bill Evans. Ogerman specialised in highly emotive works that touched on sadness, loss, optimism and hope. Check the Symbiosis 2nd Movement especially as a reference.
this song make u realy think about life and what it haves to offer u and makes u want to cry and smile at the same time cuz life is really to short love this sound and wolf rain great show .
This song is epic. This song is the opposite of "trivial" it's the opposite of "pragmatic" the opposite of "alcohol" of "political" It's beautiful It's epic!
I've been looking everywhere for this song!!! I swear I hear it sometimes in the backround of American Idol sometimes. I agree with NataliaMazaur, I don't know how but in some way Wolf's Rain touched me and changed me the way no anime ever has.
yup, it's as still haunting, heart-wrenching, and beautiful as ever. So moving, mostly at the catharsis at 3:40 (it's better in the show b/c that's when the flowers appear in the book) you know they made it to paradise. Although it was really eerie how it reset the world to a more realistic version, makes you think... I miss Wolf's Rain so much...great! now I'm all nostalgic...
I can´t write the feeling i have, when I hear this music. It´s so sad for me like an animal dieing in front of my eyes, and then it gets up, like nothing happened. I...there is no word on this world to describe it.
i've watched this anime four times, and on the fourth time i finally got the ending! this is a great series. i've been lucky to make friends with Johnny Bosch (Kiba) and meet Steven Blum (Darcia) and Crispin Freeman (Tsume). they all signed my DVDs for me ^^. i love those guys, they're as great as you can image ^^
I... I can't even describe what I feel when I listen to this. Except that this was the only anime (let alone television show) to make me cry. Christ what the hell happened at the end?! I know that they were all reborn, but Kiba's the only one that remembers? Oh that explains the opening: they all walk by like the don't know each other! Fuuuuu a animated series isn't supposed to make you feel this way!
Ooh, the last bit from 5:04 gives me goose bumps... It's the last bit in the series when the Darcia's eye seeps evil malice power into the moon flower...
Yep this song and the scene legit made me tear up. And I pride myself in not letting anime make me cry. Cus there are way sadder things happening in real life.
I'm Japanese. I'm really happy that people from all over the world love this song.
Yoko Kanno is best composer in Japan, I think.

She is my favorite composer
@@fakiirification Yuji who? Excuse me, but from what I have heard of Yuki, she is nothing compared to Yoko.
As long as there's a moon, flowers will never die. And neither will us wolves.
Your words speak true.
Whenever i hear this song i can picture Tsume, Hige and Blue lying dead covered in snow and Kiba walking on all alone...clutching the withered Lunar flower in his jaws...I always feel sad. What an amazing piece of work
such a tragic ending... I wont be able to forget the sadness I felt watching this anime, the first anime I ever watched
man, you started on a high note. hard for much else to come close.

Watched this out of curiosity annnnnnd now I'm crying.
You found out😭
I know I've commented on this song in another videos comment section, but damn is this one beautiful song. Between Cowboy Bebop and Wolf's Rain Yoko Kanno has written some of my all time favorite anime sound tracks.
so beautiful cant put it into words it makes me feel so sad but so happy at the same time
I feel you XD

The whole plot of Wolf's Rain was tantalising and inconceivably breath taking, joyful yet sad. Great anime, great anime indeed. thumbs up if you agree.
I feel instilled with deep emotion.... beyond which I have ever experienced... This song makes me feel awe struck... just magnificent.
"They say there's no such place....as paradise.
Even if you search to the ends of the Earth, there's nothing there.
No matter how far you walk, it's always the same road.
It just goes on...
and on...

This song sends shivers down my spine-I loved Wolf's Rain, even though I cried at the ending. This track i simply beautiful!
A woman accidentally bumped me on my way to school and knocked off some project papers and had been roadkilled by cars on the road. Hope you’re doing well ❤️
3:50-4:10 part leaves me breathless
send chill up my spine
Yoko Kanno's musical genius elevates the brilliance of Nobumoto's writing found in this gem of a show.
This song is so perfect... And the added effects like the radio static and blurred transmitted voices add so much to the track... Plus that break at 4:00---it really feels like your soul was drawn in and for left you hanging as if time had slowed down or stopped only for a short second...
This song is a journey through countless feelings!
Watching Wolf's rain for the third time, I ended up hugging my dog and sobbing 'It's going to be okay! It's going to be okay!' when I watched the last episodes. Right, and the hold that the violins do is so emotive and haunting, yet really peaceful!
as soon as I heard the music I started crying.
Brings back the memories of the final moments of the world and the characters that froze with it..... fuck I need pizza.
Icewolf Dude... You are not alone. I hear that first piano note and tears flood my eyes like crazy.
Wolgore Wolf Yesssss the FEELS! Oh those feels! I've never really been an emotional person, but when I hear this song............ :'(

Just beautiful. This song gets played every time I write on my book. Best song on the CD.

As bitter as the ending world, it really did influence the theme that paradise wasn't a place to find, but rather the pursuit of the idea (with friends) and hope.
that part that starts at 3:30 or so, when Cheza disintegrates into seeds. I feel that in my soul.
Thank you for posting this. The end theme is so moving, it almost makes me cry when I hear it.
Ahh~ this is one of my favorites from the soundtracks. If not my favorite instrumental piece, I always listen to it really really loud~
when your alone,
you want to feel not alone.
when hope is lost,
you want to hold someones hand
but not all hope is gone!
we, who decend from wolves,
will always find that one place...

요즘은 나오기 힘든 작품. 철학을 담은 작품은 오랜시간이 지나도 다시 찾아보게 만든다.
Beautiful 👌🏻 👍🏻 ✨ ♥️ 🐺 ❤️
Wolf's Rain...
One of the "more then just anime"
that I've ever seen.
It’s so beautiful 🤩 this is the best
I wish this song wasn't a hidden track. It's my favorite on the entire soundtrack.
I cried the first time I heard this song even if I had no idea what Wolf's Rain was...
I believe that the various sounds are the distress calls, and sounds of the remnants of humanity dying as the world is reborn.
