I am 81 and my wife just turned 80. We have been married for 60 years.
This song is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written, and holds a special place in our hearts.
Thank you Alan Jackson, the tall Georgia boy.
I hope you both live to be 100❤ God bless you
Alan is the Rembrandt of country music. He does not just sing he also paints a picture with his words.
Perfect comment!
Lovely.
Best comment I've ever heard about aj
Perfect analogy!!
Well said.
This song hits differently the older you get. You'll look back at the moments you treasure, the ones you regret and the ones that shook your world and brought about massive changes; or even the little memories of small acts of kindness and love. Every day, "remember when" becomes richer and more special as the number of days behind us grows while our days ahead begin to dwindle.
It also hammers home when you start struggling to remember things and that can be brutal as you remember enough to be crushed by the lack of recall. I know there are many things I wish I would have written down. So to all the younger folk ... record your memories in some form.
Well stated
Spot on, my friend.
Exactly-means more as we see the years pass by.
Yes I remember my sweet little family thru the years then my son died at age 23. No regrets just memories and missing what his life could have been. Been 20 years now since Ben died. 🤍🤍🤍
My aunt got pregnant at 16yo & never got to have a full wedding. A few years ago at their 50th wedding anniversary, they did their "first dance" to this song surrounded by their kids & grandkids ❤
His wife wrote a book about their marriage, his cheating, their faith and finding trust and love again. It is a phenomenal book. My favorite line "remember when the sound of little feet was the music we danced to week to week". He is one of my absolute favorites.
Name of book please
Yes she did. I worked for Delta in ATL while she was Delta flight attendant. knew her then. She signed a copy of her book for me at Scotts Bookstore on the square in Newnan. She introduced me to Alan and he signed several of the CD liners for me. Very nice man that never forgot his raising and where he came from.
@@luannedimaggio7025 The name of the book is "It's all about him.
Bet she left out where she cheated too
@@Cissy777 read it and find out
That instrument is a mandolin. It's used a lot in country, especially blue grass.
Yeah, the ukulele comment made my eye twitch lol.
My grandpa was a stringed instrument maker (violins, violas, cello’s, etc). The first instrument he ever made was a mandolin, and his sister managed to salvage it, someone had thrown it away. She gave it to me before she died.
I have my Grandmother’s mandolin. From Romania early 1900s.❤️
I said the same thing out loud lol
I appreciate the love y'all share together. I was the same way with my wife. We also listened to this song together. Unfortunately, I lost her in a vehicle accident almost a year ago. In my mind, I still think she will come home. i guess that is me just holding on and not accepting what happened. Continue to always tell your wife what she means to you and the love you have for her. that is one thing I can hold onto, knowing she knew my love for her.
Deepest Condolences Brother!
💔
Sending prayers to you 🙏❤️
If tomorrow never comes by Garth is the perfect song for this
They haven't invented the words to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. 💙
I lost my wife to a long battle of depression and this song is still relevant. Our daughter and I still remember when. We have learned it doesn’t get easier, but the memories get us through.
💔🌹
😢 damn just tear my heart out. Why don't you? May God bless you and I pray he takes your pain and turns it into strength
My husband and I were married over 41 years when he passed away. This was our song. 😢❤
I loved this song so much. It meant so much to me that I had it played at my late husbands funeral. The words in that song was so paralleled with our life of 46 yrs I had to have it played.
I had 42 yrs with my late wife. And yeah this one hits. So does "Into The Mystic" by Van Morrison. It takes on a whole new meaning when you're the surviving spouse.
So true!
Sorry for your loss.
@Hobodeluxe960 I couldn't imagine the pain of losing my spouse. We've been married for 27 years. Sorry for your loss.
This is probably Alan's best song in my humble opinion
Just celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary last year, and I turned 60 just a month before. This song makes me cry, tears of joy and sadness. It's the story of our lives, all of us. It's touching when you hear it in your 20s and 30s, but at my age it's the song of my heart. Thank you so much for sharing this. God bless you.❤
At 65 years old, my wife and I are enjoying grand children and this song continues to be life.
My husband and I have. Been married for 54 years and this song saids it all. You guys are great, love you
❤️❤️❤️
My hubby and I have been married 27 years. This song is such a perfect summary of life. It makes me cry every single time I hear it. 💜
Without hard times you’ll never appreciate the good times.❤️
I have lived it. I'm 72. My wife and I will celebrate our 53 wedding anniversary this year.
This was played with pictures at my granddaddy’s funeral…. his birth to his passing in order …. makes me sad and happy every time I hear it
As the dad of three daughters, his song. "Drive (for Daddy Gene)" is one of my favorite Alan Jackson songs.
Alan Jackson is one of the greatest of all time. He writes songs that touch your heart. Love your reactions.
We played this at my wife's grandparents 50th anniversary. Tears everywhere!!
24yrs. With MY wife 3 boys all grown and now grand babies. This song hits me in the gut so hard every time I tear up.
I said I wouldn't cry, but no matter how many times I listen to it, I cant help it,
Yes😢
My favorite verse is “remember when 30 seemed so old, now looking back, it’s just a stepping stone” it really is so true. 30 years of marriage here.
Nickey remember when we were in our teens and you heard someone was "30" and you thought "dang they're old" LOL
Alan is my all time favorite. Him and Denise are high school sweethearts. Then almost parted ways then came back together. They have 3 daughters and just recently a grandson. Please dive into his music! My favorite is “Home” about his childhood and the house he grew up in.
"Home" is my favorite too and another is "Chasin That Neon Rainbow" about his journey to fame.
Alan and Denise are from Newnan, GA. I live there. Many of his songs contain places and his experiences growing up in Newnan.
Alan wrote this for his wife for their 20th Anniversary!! Beautiful song!! React to The Older I Get!!
I cry each time i hear this song ❤❤❤
It's always been said that country fans are the most loyal fans in music.
The older you get, the more you experience, and the more this song means. Great song.
You two are so cute together!!! Cherish every single second together. I lost my love 5 years ago about 2 weeks before our 22nd anniversary. Thanks for your reactions!!!
This is such a beautiful song... My late husband used to sing it to me... I've not listened to it since he passed 8 years ago.... until your video here...
Blessings sweet ones... Happiness always....
💔🌹
This is about memory and a beautiful life with the one you love.
I love how Ali knows all the country songs! A rabbit hole on Alan Jackson wouldn't be a waste of your time.. he has some really fun songs you know the toe tapping kind of songs that you end up singing the chorus all day. Great reaction.. continue to lead him down the path of country music Ali!!
Who can write that kind of lyrics... amazingly poyant.
You two have restored my faith in the younger generation! Tonight is one of those sleepless nights for me, so I've been watching you guys all night. My wife loved this song, and it brought me to tears. I was diagnosed with leukemia 6 years ago, and my wife was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer in Sept. 0f 2020. Two days before her diagnosis, we really started to start making serious retirement plans. Unfortunately, she passed away a few days before Thanksgiving of 2021 after 21 years of marriage at the age of 47. We were looking forward to growing old together and enjoying retirement and future grandchildren. This song reminds me so much of what was, and what was yet to come. God Bless You All! There are a couple of other songs I think you'll like one is "Yesterday When I Was Young" by Roy Clark and "Paint Me A Birmingham" by Tracy Lawrence.
The woman in the video is his real wife. Beautiful song.
He did an AMAZING song called Drive as a tribute to his father and his girls. Such a good song!!
30 years together. 26 years married, and an eternity of her, my wife, in my soul. 🙏🏻✝️❤️🙏🏻
Drive by him is one I love. His daughters are in the video. One of my favs.
Yes I was thinking the same thing!
His wife and parents are also in the video as well. Most of the video was shot in thier home town of Newnan, Ga
My wife and I are coming up on our 44th anniversary in April. This song truly brings back memories of our short time together. The good times, bad times, and everything in between require love, patience, and more than anything else, commitment. When you think you can't go on, try to imagine your life without your hearts core. When we were 19 and nobody gave us a chance except us.
Love the reaction and love you both. Need to do all the reactions as a couple, Be Blessed
My mom and dad dated for 8 years before getting married. They were each other's first, and they got married, or rather eloped, because I was 3 months on the way to being a part of this world. My parents never argued with each other, mom always looked up to dad and trusted in his judgement, but also advised him whenever she could. I can only think of 3 times they ever got mad at each other, but they went into separate rooms and cooled off, there was no yelling, no petty bickering, but that happens with people that live together. My parents were married for 46 years, and including the 8 years of dating, means they were together for 54 wonderful years.
My dad was stoic, reserved, and outside of a humorous pun or joke, was pretty quiet. He had no enemies, and everyone thought highly of him, even though he seemed a bit of a mystery to them because of his quietness. He didn't give compliments that often, rarely said "I love you" or "I'm proud of you", because to my dad, he didn't like valuable words like those to lose their meaning through mindless repetition. He sacrificed a lot for my mom, my younger brother and sister, and myself. He adored his grandchildren, and I have pictures of him driving my two young nephews around on the riding mower. He loved us without having to say it. He said it with the gifts he got us that he knew we liked or needed. He said it in the many hours of sleep he lost. He said it in the way he tailored his work hours so that he could be home and ready when us kids got home from school so he could be with us. There was no one I idolized more than my dad
Sadly, my dad passed away back in December 2021 at 80 years old due to blood clots from the C19 shot. Taking over his role as "man of the house", I've discovered oh so much about my dad and his love for us, that I only wished I could have known and appreciated when he was alive. I think a lot about my mom, who has Alzheimer's, and how losing dad affects her. This song reminds me of the love they had for each other, the trust, and the life they built together for 54 years. Not only do I think about mom dealing with this, but also my siblings, my adult niece, and toddler nephews. When dad was in the hospital for the month leading up to his passing, we got word that he was going to be a great-grandfather. He would have been thrilled to hear of it, but never did.
Country music has a lot of sad songs, and lots of love songs. Unlike other kinds of music, Country music has a way of making you feel the pain, but also offering a little hope, and a little healing in the end. Is it any wonder that most music today exists because of country music, since it shares origins with blues, gave birth to rockabilly, which became rock and roll, which split off into many sub genres like prog rock, metal, grunge, etc. But the thing that remains the same is that true country has heart and soul, makes you feel, makes you think, and it often is songs about life. That's why I always default back to the music I was raised with.
If I could make a request, I would suggest Conway Twitty's "That's My Job". It details the relationship between a father and son, and in many ways is a parallel with my own life. Damn song hits me in the gut every time, but also reminds me of the love involved in picking up the torch and carrying on the legacy.
At my age with two adult daughters and two Grandkids I am at a place to truly appreciate this song.
The most talented country singer ever! Writes the music and the lyrics! And his vocals!
It goes by in a blink. Treasure every second
This was a song for his wife to commemorate all they have been through. He added the part about losing trust and getting it back because he cheated on her and she almost left him, but the worked it out and their relationship is stronger because of it.
We played this song at our wedding reception. Love it!
I was a full-time Paramedic in North Carolina when the 9/11 attacks took place. 13 years into a 30 year career, I was ironically in pre-op waiting to be taken back for hernia surgery. Things slowed somewhat as the O.R. staff scrambled to make sure their children and family were safe, so I was still awake when the towers fell. That was the last place I wanted to be on that day, not knowing what else may be coming as I was put under. It was my regular shift that day & I wanted to be on the EMS unit to which I was assigned, not going out for several weeks of recovery. Now retired, I still remember it as if it were yesterday.
Brilliant country song by a true country legend just such an emotional song
A very old quote from a country artist (way back in the 50s) when asked why his music was so popular, he said "It's 3 chords and the truth."
If you like this one (how could you not) try "When Daddy Let Me Drive"
One of the best love songs written. Alan Jackson really does it justice.
You know you got a good song when the first 3 seconds give you chills.
Thank you for all your reactions..keep doing what you do
I really enjoy your reactions and that you are not afraid to share your faith.
The Older I Get by Alan Jackson is another great song from his "later years"
Alan has many great songs. His music from the early 90s from him has a different tone and attitude.
To have to fight back the tears is a understatement (whew)
That sweet lil kiss you gave your wife at the end made my day, thank you for your wonderful reactions. I enjoy your videos, have a great day with your beautiful family.
We met when I was 16, he was 26. We had 41 years together before I lost him 5 years ago. This is Alans best song, in my opinion.
This song is so beautiful, we played it at my mom's funeral to represent her life story, I cry everytime I hear it! Thank you.
We have been married for 30 years. We dated off and on for 15 years before we got married. We have 4 children and 14 grandchildren. We have had our ups and downs. Always speak to each other. It’s work, but worth every moment.
On April 9th my wife and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary. Stay together, dreams do come true. Much respect from a grandpa in Texas.
I love how he uses the mandolin so wonderfully in most of his videos...its just beautiful...just like his songs...wholesome family oriented songs about real life...about the life most of us secretly dream ours would or should be like...its a shame the world today no longer takes the time with things going at such a fast pace to take time to enjoy and notice....things that would make a difference in the world are being erased...things we should take time for like family and simple moral values....maybe all of us should start thinking about all of this on a daily basis instead of everythin
You two look like you are full of promise and experience! Just remember to really listen to the others feelings!❤❤❤
Remembering all the good the bad and the times that memories were bigger than your dreams! I remember when
Don’t wait until your 50th anniversary to listen! You’re right about using it as inspiration. Our kids were little when it came out. They knew mama was going to sing and cry every time it came on the radio especially when it said “the sound of little feet was the music we danced to week to week.” We were so thankful for for having them and each other knowing they would “grow up and move away.” We danced to this song at our daughter’s wedding. Also, I am going to use the lyrics in our anniversary scrapbook.
Married for 37 years and dated 4. High school sweethearts like Alan and Denise with the ups and downs of marriage like them.
This is huge! This about marriages change. Remember why you fell in love!
AJ voice is smooth as silk and soft as a baby cheeks. Tender, emotional
I’m all up in my feels about Toby and watching you find these videos has me sobbing. Thank y’all ❤
The slide guitar and country music is just so great usually done on a steel guitar so amazing sound
Love yall talking to each other afterwards. ..
That's the biggest step my parents (53 years together) said was communicating, compromise, & trust.
My husband and I were married 44 years when God called him home. Out struggles always brought us closer because we had overcome.❤
They were high school sweethearts and married in 1979, Newnan, Ga. They went through rough times in their marriage but, always stayed together!!
This is one of those song that is beautiful. When your young you can appreciate the beauty in it. However when you reach a much older age like I have it takes you back to all the stepping stones you have reached in your life. If you led a loving and happy life along the way it will bring back all those happy memories and a tear or 2. And if course the feeling of wishing you could do it all over again.
I'm so happy you did this one! This is one of my favorite love songs ever🥰 This was my parents songs. They loved it so much. They were married 40 years when cancer took mom 8 years ago. They were always sweethearts
Been married 30 yrs, every anniversary i find a moment in the day to play this song and stop everything to dance with my wife! Best wishes for you both to get to this point!
This song always reminds me of my grandparents. They got married at 16 and 19 years old, brought 4 beautiful babies into this world, sadly lost 2 of them. They've had some high highs and low lows but always did it together. This june they will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary.
Congratulations to them! That's quite an accomplishment.
I cried my eyes out the first time I heard this
I sing this to my grandkids. I have been married 31 years and it really is a song that hits harder when you are older.
I love that you share your faith. God bless you both and may you have long lives together 🙏❤
I listen to this song just so I can cry thinking about how much I love my woman
I could tell when the lyrics started getting to him. He began to chew the heck out of the gum... Enjoyed the video... Real Emotional!
"Where've You Been?" by Kathy Mattea is my favorite old people's love song.
My favorite song of all time
Alan is the best songwriter and have the I call country voice in the histori 💕💕💕💕In Remember When he dance with his wife and you can also se picture of his 3 wonderful girls Thanks for your great reaction is good to see your wife to. Love from Norway 💞💞💞💞
Alan Jackson is one of the last true country artist. Pretty much the last of true country music.
Having lived over 65 years and being with my sweetheart for almost 44 of those years, these words hit home. My baby boys are now 42 and 39, and it seems like yesterday that I first held HER and them in my arms the first time. You two are such a sweet couple. Hope you enjoy life together for a long time so you to can remember. Memory is such a wonderful thing!
My fav Alan Jackson song, so beautiful.
The way that Denise & Allan look at each other says it all. I am glad that you have found his music.
Country music always tells a story.
Great Reaction my wife and I have our 50th anniversary in April and we are living with our daughter and her 6 kids and we are helping them. But it’s great for us to 👍🙏 👣 we will never be left alone 😊👩❤️👨
You will miss your girls being little.....no matter how good they grow up to be! Trust me!!
i tell my grown son ,he will always be his parents little boy ... and now his wife is about to give him the joy he gave us .. i have a photo taken at the hospital the first time i sat and held him in the palm of my hand .. i knew just what i was thinking at that moment .. WHAT WAS HE GOING TO BE LIKE AT 30 years old
will he be married to a women he will love for ever like i have with his mom of 41 years .. .well 32 years have passed seems like yesterday .......i remember when ..
Adorable, your reaction! Looking back over 42 years of life with my Highschool sweat heart I remember when very HARD! Tears are life!
One of the things I love about UA-cam is how we get to know our favorite content creators as friends and family. I love your gentleman mores, your love and respect for your wife and children. You are a role model for young men.
It's not a Uke, it's a Mandolin. Gorgeous solos and harmonies that cut through!
This was an awesome song to do together. I listened to this again and again when it came out. My children run from 41 down to 21 so as a parents this is perfect. I have a lot of remember when's good and bad.
This is the only video of yours i will comment on!! I know this isn't your kind of music at all but thank you for giving this great song a chance im 49 and have been happily married now for over 23 years and this song means a lot to me 👍🇺🇸
Y'all are so great together.
Ali I watch as you listen to these songs. I see how much you relate to the words. I hope the good times always win. Remember the dance, those quite times get you through the rough spots.
I absolutely love this song. Every time I hear it it brings me back to the beginning of the relationship with the love of my life. We were married for 25 years when he passed away and every time I hear this I remember every moment of our life together and how I would never have changed a second of it. The only thing I would try to change is his passing away I lost a huge chunk of my heart and soul that day .
His wife was a Delta flight attendant. She met Glenn Campbell at the airport and he gave her his agents business card. After trying for years he finally signed a recording contract and became a country music. country star.
Alan.. such an amazing song writer.. gotta love it.. and this is true country singing. Omg.. ya;ll waited till you were married.. Love it.. I waited till my first marriage at almost 20 yrs old.. Sounds bad when I say my first marriage.. but my 2nd marriage.. raised 5 children with him.. he passed away 2009. I've been with my 3rd for 13 yrs now
