Great video and sincere intro putting things in perspective - coming from Australia it is hard to believe what we are seeing on the news. Best wishes from Sydney.
Thank you so much! I felt silly and it was also a bit difficult to put this episode together for many reasons... The fires have slowed down a bit but so many lives and structures were lost... Heartbreaking for sure... Thanks for your time watching and dropping some words, I appreciate a ton.
Good to see you’re ok in the midst of everything! Great review as always:-) Especially comforting that you still value the Soloist as highly as you do.😊
That Soloist just a perfect blend of performance and value. Hard to beat. Thanks again Terje. You know how much I appreciate your viewership each and every episode I put out. Be well, my friend.
Batman! Always good seeing you here. Each time I put out an episode, I can count on having at least 1 view no matter how terrible an episode may turn out. I love you for that. :) Yes, LA is in a terrible shape currently. And to be honest, it looks like it will take forever to rehabilitate. Lives lost, homes lost, just tragic...
I ride an Orbea Orca OMR Gen.6. The exact one you rode in orange albeit with different fit and specs. The only reason I haven’t gotten a new ride is because of this channel and the bike review videos it pumps out 😂
Thanks for sharing your opinion on whether the bikes Tarmac/Ostro/Aeroad feel distinguishable in a blind test. That was really helpful for my considerations of buying a new bike.
2:49 while bike are trivial to talk about right now. It might actually help someone who did lose part of their livelihood, to get 25 minutes away from the madness and l9ok forward to buying a Canyon bike when the dust has settled " literally"
Hi Marcel, great to see you here again. And if my endless rambling could remotely take someone away from the madness going on, I would take that. Although I wish my rambling was only 25 minutes.... My trap couldn't shut for 55 minutes in this episode... Christ...
Awesome question. I get asked a lot by my friends and my answer for Ostro VAM is that it should only be bought as a good deal 2nd hand, or perhaps a dealer selling through a crazy discount. So if the financial outlay being out of the equation, just a bike to bike, I would lean ever so slightly by a hair towards Aeroad based on it's a hair more playful than Ostro although that can be disputed by others. Plenty of people loving them Ostro VAMs. Me personally speaking only.
One of the reasons shops are less receptive to working on Canyon bikes is that they have exactly the same problems you described in dealing with the company. Most shops can't process warranty service on bike manufacturers that they don't themselves carry, and Canyon comes very close to that, despite not actually having dealers.
100% correct. I see why they do how they do and why they do. Some aspects of their business model, great, some not. Hopefully, the riders on Canyon don't bring their bikes into shops assuming they can do such warranty service etc knowing the shops can't. I was more less referring to bringing the bikes in even just for basic maintenance tasks where some shops apparently aren't too receptive. David, thanks for your time watching and dropping some knowledge on here. I appreciate your time as you continue to spend your time with what I put out. Your subscription is appreciated more than you know :)
Great real world review. It's such a pity they provide Zero component flex. Personally I think it is unacceptable to ask for 10k but then say you have to take a 90m stem. OK well then can I buy a 110 stem please. Eh no sorry Paul it is out of stock........OK Bye Canyon Hello Specialized
Exactly. It was this way back in 2016 when I bought my Ultimate straight from Germany, and it is so today. I see why they do as such, but as a consumer I may not agree with. And it's annoying that your bike isn't fitting the way you would want out of the box whether $3k or $6k or $10k. Ya still are forced to spend money kitted out with proper components as no 2 bodies are the same.
Thank you so much! Still working on my site to be able to sell the shirts and hoodies I created. Girona is on my list of destinations for next few years. We shall see! Thank you again!
About the bike part "negative", not sure how it works in US, but here in EU, you can order whatever you want, no issues at all, no need to provide any serial number, don't even have to have the bike, can just buy how many handlebars, seatposts, bits and bobs I want for the Aeroad or Ultimate. Also regarding Ultimate vs Aeroad (have the exact same white SLX model and new SLX Aeroad) I found Aeroad to be significantly "stiffer" when it comes to sprinting or pushing power out of the saddle while similarly comfortable. Lastly, enjoyed the video ;)
Thank you!!! Perhaps sourcing the parts out of Canyon based in Germany may be easier there. Basically, hardly anything is in stock out of their US operation. And to give you a context, I talked to them a few weeks ago to get me a different handlebar for my Grail. They asked me to take photos of the bike in its entirety, serial number on the bottom bracket area, and also the part I wish to replace before even taking my order. Absolute madness...
Holy shit... I didn't even realize they discontinued the SL!!! When did this happen!!!! Goes to show you I didn't bother looking at their website before cutting the episode LOLOLOL.... shame on me
Too much is being made of bikes beating up riders due to frame/seatpost/cockpit stiffness/vibrations. The solution is simple. Increase your tire width. Simply going from 28mm to 30mm and using a slightly lower recommended pressure makes a world of difference. For us older average riders, so what if you added 60 grams of rotational weight? Stay safe out in LA. Lived a couple of years in Manhattan Beach and Hollywood back in the day and enjoyed riding out to Palos Verdes in particular. Cheers from Sicily.
Hello there! Hollywood is where the 4th fire erupted last week, and that's the one that made me evacuate for a brief moment. Completely agreed and you see the trend already. Everyone was making a big deal out of going from 25 to 28. Then the movement to 28 to 30 is strong all due to that comfort sought which is why I always tell my friends and those who ask to go tubeless, wider, and lower PSI like you exactly mention. At the end of a day, every company has just about perfected the tuning characteristics if you ask me. Some variations here and there, but you are absolutely correct.
These type of bikes are not developed to ride 28km for 8h. So they just born to win races and nothing else. They are like hyper Cars which are not made to carry people with comfort from home to far holiday destinations.
Couldn't agree more. I equate to people buying signature racket of Federer. Golf clubs of Tiger. People wish to wield the same things their heroes wield perhaps live vicariously through? It is way too much of a bike despite ungodly number of miles I ride week in week out. It is a superbike built for the pros to race on 100%
LOL I don't know where I was going with that whole reference/analogy... Even now thinking back, I don't know if that crap made any sense. Nonetheless, ya know I appreciate your time watching!!!

Appreciate the LA fire callout. Speaks to your character! Thoughts to all those impacted.
Thank you so much.
Nice work DC, great review
Much appreciated!
your videography is nothing short of masterful. Chapeau.
Johnny, that's too kind. Thank you so much! I always appreciate you continuing to watch what I put out.
The video I’ve been waiting for months. Glad things are good on your end ❤
Thanks for your continued support my friend. Hopefully there was something meaningful in 55 minutes of my endless rambling...
Excellent video, thank you.
Thank you, Leonard!
Great review DC. My heart and thoughts are with you and everyone else in SoCal...be safe.

As a fellow UA-camr , cyclist and motocrosser, I appreciated this video and especially the motogp reference. Good job with this !
Thank, Duffy! It is hard work indeed LOL....

That Orca is such a solid bike and at a great value. Absolutely no reason to look elsewhere if you are on one of those.
Thanks!

With total respect: You need to ride a Pinarello Dogma, at least once!!!!!! I love your channei.
What Size tyres did you put on in mm, wondering if a 30mil tyre would fit
Sam, you can throw 30s on with CONFIDENCE.
44:40 If say there's a good deal where you can get the Ostro VAM at the similar price as the CFR, what would your choice be?

‘Battle of premium wheels should include Scope’s Artech wheels

Can you do Giant Propel Adv SL ? Thanks!
Currently, a Propel is not on my radar but never say never...
@@DiabeticCycling a must try (adv SL) .. like to see what you think compared to all the bikes you have ridden :)
DC one question supersix vs Ostro vam? I’m deciding between those two. What are your thoughts ???
Thank you.
If out of those 2, I would lean towards Ostro.
How do I buy that hoodie bro?
Please check your Instagram DM if you haven't already.

Great content love your work. Seen your T shirt, if you ever get to Girona drop a line ( a fellow diabetic)

2014 called they want their wheels back.
Jon, you have no idea how much I wanted to say something along those lines!!!

@@DiabeticCycling Yea that sounds absolutely crazy!
Idk how long ago this was recorded but there is no Aeoroad CF SL anymore
Holy shit... I didn't even realize they discontinued the SL!!! When did this happen!!!! Goes to show you I didn't bother looking at their website before cutting the episode LOLOLOL.... shame on me

quit cycling its time to make big money via rebuilding house for the Rich.

Vast majority who don't race for a living would be faster and more comfortable distance riding on an Endurance bike.

In summary, we all agree that Angelina Jolle is more beautiful than a Cannon Aeroad. 🙂
