Maybe Grendizer was built by Koji in the future and then sent back thousands of years in the past to protect Fleed. Koji already did something similar with Mazinkaiser in SRW 30.
1:44, 'You forced my hand...TRICKING ME INTO DESTROYING CYBERTRON!' - Optimus Primal from Season 2 Episode 1 of Beast Machines. Another good dialogue in that show.
1:58, Grendizer proves to be very powerful in this anime than his previous iteration from decades ago. It only begs the age old question of who's stronger - this guy or Mazinkaiser?
The villains or in this case - Zeola seems to find other ways to make Grendizer's power his greatest Achilles heel which is always a nice thing to see smart villains in these animes.
2:34, I feel Zeola will try to exploit this good will in some other way.
Genzo's very cheerful in this anime compared to his other older version. I guess that's what happens when Sayaka and Kouji basically adopts Duke.

Also, Duke accepting the ring from Kouji is such a callback to the Ota manga where Duke's identification to climb into Grendizer was in fact a ring compared to the necklace in the anime.
You know with how busted Grendizer here is, it would be a surprise for them to pull out Mazinkaiser right around the end to match it especially if they're going with the idea of a God creating Grendizer, who else but the machine that can surpass God, and defeat the Devil

That one shot of Grendizer pinning down Zeoladizer is enough to keep my spines chilling throughout the night.
Too much Aura to not think of it everytime Grendizer crosses my mind.
Duke states that Grendizer was built by a god (he said “kami-sama” in the official JP dub). That plus Umon’s statement of Fleedians and humans being descendants of the same breed, plus the Dizer Shrine left in Okamijima makes me believe that the Sygma Empire and Raaga (both from Gosaku Ota’s manga adaptation of Grendizer) might be introduced in the show.
Yeah I wish the fansubs were more reliable, but it is what it is. And I'm unfamiliar with Ota's Grendizer, but if they're going to be relevant for U I might need to finally check it out
It goes better with the lore of Mazinger Z, Doctor Hell and the Mycenae Empire.
They worked hard on the lore to make it fit better with Mazinger Z and the older civilizations.
Indeed, Gosaku Ota’s manga is clearly the main inspiration for these story elements. I think they will deviate from it but the core elements of the lore are here.
Up to this point, I have some mixed opinions.
One of the most important matters is that some people are discussing the possibility that Duke was brainwashed into destroying the Fleed star.
Kasado saying he's having visons of Emeror Vega, and there's some eye symbolism when Grendizer goes berserk.
I really hope it's not the case: I want Duke to be responsible for his crimes, so that he has a personal reason and duty to protect the Earth.
Maybe instead of full brainwashing Vega just made his anger greater.
Destroying an entire planet is a but unfortunate for a protagonist we root for, but it's a cartoon, so if he fulfills this mission, that's enough redemption.
The character designs are a bit too modern.
Seeing the goofy classic villains alongside freaky anime boy Kasado (*HE'S LIKE THE FREAKING JOKER BABY!* 🤡) is jarring.
On the other hand, I'm warming up to the mecha designs. I'd like to see other Nagai robots like this.
The scene where Kouji mourns to Z really touched me, it shows how much he consider the robot as a brother. 💪🏻😭♥️
Kasado was dressed like the classic characters. Badly :)
I'm not a great fan of Kasado and he will probably die soon.
basically Kira yamato in Seed Freedom being forced to go berserk and killing innocents😂 😂😂😂Fukada is the most eco friendly director.
This is probably the most monster-esque depiction of Grendizer I've ever seen, reminds me of Evangelion a bit, with the whole berserker gimmick.
Agreed that Grendizer is OP as it effortlessly dealt with what the Vega army threw at him. The Screw Crusher Punch at full power is probably due to Duke's emotions channelling it to go super fast and super strong. Kasado not putting up a fight and is asking for a round 2 against Duke. But seeing that the next episode title is a bit foreshadowing probably Duke will go crazy and just space-thunder Kasado to oblivion if what happens to Nadia affects him. At the pace they are going, it is probably 1 cour of 12 to 13 episodes since they are getting a lot of plot going.
I recently read Gosaku Ota's version of Grendizer and it is really dark and the ending is something out of Devilman which I hope doesn't go too crazy. How about King Vega himself? It reminds me of the big evil in Great Mazinger like a ball of pure evil energy. King Vega is also voiced by Sasaki Nozomu who did Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho. (His voice has changed a lot due to him being a heavy smoker)

Very cool episode. Blaki is suck an ass licker it's hilarious ! The changes about great Vega is very good, in the original is was very disappointing, I like that this one seems have a mystical origins. I'm curious about it's tie with Grendizer and his mystical origins. Speaking of Grendizer, he is indeed very impressive. The fight was nice and he shows that he can win a war on his own, so it makes me curious how things will escalate. I suppose that Zuril will come with new type of more powerful machines. But first, Naida... The original was such a sad episode.
Would it be a surprise if I call that Grendizer was made by the Mycenaeans? Kinda fits their preview to be honest……
That would be pretty interesting actually. I'd like to see how much they mix the Mazinger lore in for this series
I wouldn't say that, because Mycenaeans were on earth, Duke and Grendizer are from the planet Fleed, which, based on the original series, is on the other side of the galaxy.

I remembered that in one story, the Mycenae and the Vega were once part of a massive super civilisation called the Ragna Imperium. The Mycenae ended up on Earth because the Vega betrayed them and they have been building back up ever since. They are aware of each other, I think
@@lordadorable1140 I can't deny that, but the anime also claims that Grendizer is the incarnation of the Fleedian God of War, therefore the Mycenae can't have made him, perhaps the people on Fleed made Grendizer as a means of worship and defense at the same time.
@Kon_Kinoki no Duke said fleed didn't make grendizer but something else did, so it seems like they are going to do the something like ragna imperium
There is a new Bandai SMP model kit available but that line is notorious for its low quality so I would skip it.
I haven't tried any SMP kits yet, but do have some on preorder. Guess I'll find out myself how bad they are for myself
@RevoSKL I wouldn't call them bad. But it's a mixed experience. The give you a a lot of effects and accessories but the cut corners in sometimes fine ways, and sometimes mind boggling ways.
@@2saisai I have never bought one, but please share your experience. They are not cheap, they tend to release niche mecha series and they come with a piece of gum. So they are aimed at kids (they are called CANDY TOYS), but old people like me tend to buy em? I just dont get the contradiction behind the SMP line.
Hot take here but i felt the script was very cringe in this ep. up to Koji crying for Mazinger. I really liked that scene. It was brutal. Maybe the fansub was the cause?
Yeah the fansubs have been pretty terrible, I try not to quote directly off it much
