Not even a mention of PCC Overrun who’s original name was Spastic? A name so controversial in the UK that they had to change it because it made the news and one of the instances where Hasbro didn’t try to keep the trademark on it before it expires.
RID01/Car Robots really sticks out to me in the name department. Slapper is definitely the silliest, though his original name in japanese was Goosher and i'm not sure which is worse. Gas skunk is probably my least favorite just because it's on the nose and extremely boring, i have no idea why it wasn't changed in the US aside from making the spelling slightly worse. W.A.R.S. on the other hand is a personal favorite because of the pure audacity. Back to the Car Robots side though I would love if absolutely anybody in the world could explain what the name "Greejeeber" is supposed to mean/be in reference to. I could keep going.
Slug is a dumb name. I can't help but think of the slow and squishy invertebrate, even if they meant the verb to punch someone.
a slug is also a type of bullet that's fired from a shotgun
Aimless and Misfire should try target practice by shooting at Broadside so I can make fun of them by saying their aim is so terrible they couldn’t hit the BROADSIDE OF AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER OF ALL THINGS
😂
Low hanging fruit, but Overcharge is a terrible name to something you're selling.
I think we can all agree that Spastic takes the crown for this.
7:23 I still don't understand why they couldn't just let the Combaticons use their original names in RID.
Optimus as on optimist, and prime as in one or first.
Orion as in a constellation name, and pax as in paxil, a medication.
Doesn't 'Optimus' come from latin, meaning 'best'?
@@jesterdays👍🏻
Instead of Punch and Counterpunch, If we're going with attack names I would go with Haymaker and Backstab instead.
Kup was actually named because he was a futuristic picKUP truck. Naming your Transformer after the second half of their alt-mode is still a stupid way to name a Transformer, though. Can you imagine the fights between Optimus Prime and Megatron being as impactful if their names were "Uck" and "Stol?"
Couldn't someone just say pretty much all of Beast Wars? Cheetor -a cheetah, Rhinox - a rhino, Inferno - a fire ant etc. Bisque also had a blue 'repaint' named Thermidor.
(Before watching) Midnight Express better be here
Midnight Express is an awesome name, though
@@otaking3582 you really think?
@@Miragereviews Yeah, it suggests speed, darkness, and trains, all of which are awesome.
@@otaking3582 I personally don't agree BUT everyone can have their own opinion
We're gonna call Gator Raider "Gatorface".
I hated when they changed Bumble Bee to Gold Bug...
At leasr Reacharound was spared
I feel like Thunderblast might fall in "Worst name" list, it's like someone is either fan of Thundercracker or someone wanted to be thunderous.
It's ironic that in Cybertron toyline there were two characters name as Thunderblast, that been famous Decepticon boat woman and Mini-Con from Autobot aligned Air Defense Mini-Con Team.
Blastification is a proven effect
He's a picKUP truck.
I kinda think Go Shooter in the Headmasters saga is a hilarious name for basically Mach Alert, or red alert the headmaster, and headmaster...tee hee...headmaster. Heh.
Does Discharge have any sort of electrical power?
Nah TJ, I gotta disagree with you on one point... Kup isn't named after a racing cup, he's an abbreviation of Pickup, in reference to his alt mode.
I was waiting for Lube to come up.
......😑
Oh, grow up!😂
Ironhide has a mini me .
Imagine Optimus telling you you're going to be assigned to a team and your teammates are Lube, Backwind, Discharge and Erector. I'd add Needlenose to the list. I always thought that was a stupid name.
I’d think he was ribbing me.
Holy cow, is battle unicorn’s lance/pike thing the inspiration for the unicorn gundams lance? Or am I smoking the big boof?
I kinda like Mudflap. KUP is a combination of picK-UP, always like that name as well.
Galvatron if you break it down is silly, galvanized as in shiny plated, and tron as in robot.
Mudflap is funnier when you consider that Bumblebee used it as an insult in Animated "I'm just a big old mudflap workin' on the space bridge!"
Wingthing. It's like they gave up when they realized they weren't gonna come up with a name as cool(?) as Ratbat.
Tarantulas. They could've spelled it differently, like "Tarantulus". Still wouldn't have sounded good, but at least it wouldn't look like it was constantly being pluralized.
Retrax. It's because he retracts into a ball. Get it? Dumb name for a terrible toy.
And lastly, Drill Nuts. It's a Japan-only release, but still... why couldn't they have just kept the name Drill Bit? Drill nuts aren't even a thing.
You forgot "big daddy" from one of the bayverse mainlines
A micromaster too
But that name is fucken peak come on
I'd think Ro-tor and Movie were Go-Bots, except they are clearly Combaticon repaints
You left out the dumbest of the dumb names from the current Legacy line: Beast Wars universe “Wingfinger”. “My wings are made of fingers, or my fingers have wings.” Someone should have gotten fired for that name. Also, honorable mention, “Laser Cycle” from G2 universe of the same line. Even for what is only a re-color of Prime Universe Arcee with a different head sculpt, that’s just lazy.
The fact Backwind is Green tho 💀
