There are three reasons to bring people back to the office. 1. It's more control over employees. 2. To appease the people who collect rent from their office buildings. 3. Promoting "company culture."
Here's what people gain with the remote working option.
    1. Less wear and tear on their vehicle(Less stress of expensive maintenance.)
    2. Fewer cars on the road (less infrastructure strain and pollution.)
    3. Employees save mental and physical energy by not having to commute( more direct energy for the job itself.)
    4. Hundreds of dollars of weekly childcare costs.
    5. Improved mental health by giving back time to the employees (work-life balance.)
    6. Reduced accidents and fewer deaths as a result.
    7. Employers save money by not having to rent out or purchase buildings.
    8. Employers shift expenses onto the employees, such as internet or electricity use.
    9. More money in the pocket by not having to fill up a gas tank.
There are far more, but these are just off the top of my head.

    • @ButtSolution
      @ButtSolution 9 місяців тому

"Left-wing" politicians all the way up to Biden are so enslaved by the rent-collecting-class that they're willing to tell millions of people to drive on rapidly decaying highways when they absolutely don't have to. Think of all the carbon emissions that would be eliminated by an increase in remote work. The savings on infrastructure maintenance alone would be enormous. But no. Because their masters have invested trillions into urban real estate, none of that matters at all.

He needs to seriously do his research over the last decade. Remote workers are more productive. The only reason he is saying this is because he wants employees in the office to rebuild downtown real estate. But the statistics, both nationwide and worldwide, do not bear out his falsehood. The fact that big business wants to bring back RTO is ONLY about greed, real estate and not caring about employees. He keeps talking about being cutting edge, but RTO is anything BUT cutting edge.
Anyone can publish a "study", but the most reputable, long-term studies contradict everything in his "paid for by companies who want people back in offices" study.

I missed his 'It's only bricks and mortar' part. He shut down the businesses in Minneapolis and wonders where they went? He demanded remote work and now calls those at home 'losers'? He still has city workers at home (nearly four years later) but encourages businesses to bring workers into the office? He closed schools for two years and now wonders why juvenile crime numbers are crazy. He called police officers murderers and is now in charge of them (no knock or otherwise). He shut down bars and restaurants in an attempt to control violence that HE created and now wants to recoup the lost sales tax revenue with red-light and speed cameras via the legislature.
His stage was in the round simply to match how he speaks in circles.

And honestly, I was annoyed before but seeing this in context here really pissed me off. I know many people, including myself, who are thriving and more productive than ever working from home: and of course it has helped many people in otherwise difficult positions, whether related to health, family, or cost. It has been a win-win for many companies and employees and this is well documented in social science research. Nothing good comes out of lawlessness consuming a neighborhood. Pockets of downtown are now dealing with open crimes that used to not be put up with. This brings people in who don't live in the area, then friends of friends decide to come in and hang out with open drug usage, drinking, dice games, etc. They use the bus shelters to deal drugs, use drugs, etc. People hang near our buildings to get in behind someone with a key fab. Minneapolis removed loitering laws years ago. The city is likely doomed. Frey's vision of Nicollet Mall will only bring in tax revenue to a dead area, but it doesn't stop the problems surrounding it. There will just be more loitering and lawlessness all around Nicollet Mall. City Council and Frey can't govern. They want to bend the knee to the extremists and criminals.

What most government workers who STILL work from home have shown is that they are really winners. They more than likely get between $60,000 and over $120,000 for doing NOTHING. My wife is the manager of an office in Saint Paul and gets her paycheck from the city government. She has a staff of mostly women and the number is around 20 ranging in age from late 20's to early 60's. 18 women and 2 men. She has been at work the whole time during and after the pandemic for over 20 years. She and one other person still come in 5 days a week. The rest? They "work from home" when THERE IS NO WORK FOR THEM TO DO. For going on 4 years now, they still claim fear of COVid to keep the grift going. About 6 months ago, they were outraged when they were required to come in for 1 Day a week. SO...they come in either Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, slam the doors of their offices angrily, and do nothing anyway. They are winning now, because my lady has to pay for parking everyday, come in everyday, and work every day making less money than half of them. And for some reason, they vacation a lot, often traveling abroad. NO, the government made people that actually work "losers."

Way too sensitive of a world to say that. The Vince Lombardi approach is too rough for the soft remote worker. -------- Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser. --- Vince Lombardi

If your job can be done without you present, your job will be gone in 10 years. The fear was always that automated production via robotic machinery was going to render the blue collar worker obsolete.. No. There are too many variables for many blue collar jobs for that to happen. A.I. will render the white collar middle class obsolete much faster as the only thing happening is allocating numbers along with making decisions that AI can make - faster and more efficiently. The morons that fell in love with working from home during the pandemic signed their career's death warrant. The lucky ones are the Boomers that will just miss this economic asteroid. The genuinely unlucky ones are those born in the 70's and 80's; too young to retire, too old to get experienced in a trade...
