My main notes for Mr. Coaltown: (1) work some more on those lyrics; and (2) you’ll get more radio airplay by shortening those songs and having more of them.
I think the lyrics were written by Bernie Tarpaulin, who wrote some of the words for Elton Jim I think. Thanks for your insights, I’m off to find a Liberace record

I never heard this record until I got a copy from the Coleman auction. I listened to it again recently and then watched George Bordon's review. In like it a little better, but I'm more of an Ellington guy. Not my favorite - I think it might grow on me if I listen more. Probably gonna listen to Dave Alvin instead.
There's a Dual 1019 just to the left, a 1229 upstairs and two 1219s on the shelf! I'm using a Sonographe SG3 I picked up a while back. It's my pretentious/elitist Jazz only turntable. 🤣🤣
@@elliottcrews4997 well thats why it sounded so bad. Coltrane should be played on a Dual. That and that record clamp was squeezing the notes that’s why they were out of time. Free form jazz needs to breathe ! Thank you for enlightening my day! We need more of this. Keep up the good work sir!
Also what’s with the clamp? You buy into that nonsense. And jazz is definitely an acquired taste. Love it or hate it there’s no middle ground. I can see it but my wife hates it so we don’t do jazz in our house. Traffic is as close to jazz as we get.
