I'M SORRY FOR MY CHEAP METHODS TT__TT and i apologize for the poor filming. couldn't find my tripod, so i either had to do things while holding the camera in my hand =__= or use my knees to hold it.... sighs
anyways, i made this because i am SO excited for Tangled pats her Pascal plush and the lanterns from the trailer just looked so beautiful, i couldn't help myself.

My 4 year old told me this morning that she really wanted a lantern like in the movie. So I decided that I would try to make one for her while she was at work. After about 15 mins of searching I found this video... Thank you so much, this is going to be perfect!

If you want the lantern flying... you have to spray some fire proof product and let it dry... then cover the top with something... Light the candle and make sure everything is STILL or stable... there... you will need to assist the lantern before u let it go... almost forgot that its the best to make them light. so be wise using your materials

No problem! :) Try searching up biodegradable sky lanterns if you want ones that actually float.
great job, as for real floating Chinese lanterns, they are much bigger than you might expect and if you use them there are a lot of safety things to keep in mind. We bought some to celebrate the Solstice and since we live by the ocean i thought I bought biodegradable the safest thing to do is on the beach, they won't go into the trees etc well we needed to talk to the coast guard! This warning is not to deter anyone~ It is such a beautiful experience. Just know what you are getting into.

i only had regular small paper so the cutting out of the sun was a hell, but it came out nice, and i have these little electric candles and i put one in them :) it looks cute! Thanks so much for making this tutorial!

I am am mom and I like your version that is yellower without the tissue! No for a safety stand point.. If you find a way to make a bottom for that lantern, maybe cardboard or something.....You can use BATTERY OPERATED tea lights that flicker. Then you can poke holes in it and hang them with clear fishing line. Ah la! Floating lantern.

Hi I loved this idea but I have a question can I put this over a light bulb.? I know the bulbs shouldn't touch the bulb but is it safe? Having a party outside in a tent and I already.have a light bulb string and I want to try this out. Hope you can answer this question. Thanks!!!
youc an probably use balsa wood to build a frame, and then just glue the rice/tissue paper directly onto the frame.
how can i attach the sides without using staples? and how can I add a base to the bottom to put a battery powered led tea light candle inside and hang it up?
you would need special material--wax cell. =) if you want floating lanterns, i would buy them at the link in my info box.
