- Abd ar-Rahman II (792-852) was the fourth Umayyad Emir of Córdoba in the Al-Andalus Iberia from 822 until his death in 852.
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān II was the grandson of his namesake, founder of the Umayyad dynasty in Spain. His reign was an administrative turning point.
Abd al-Raḥmān carried out a vigorous policy of public works, made additions to the Great Mosque in Córdoba, and patronized poets, musicians, and men of religion.

I read a book but it is written in Indonesian language, translated from Arabic. Ummayads in Andalusia was their second time comes in power, and for this second era they werent empire just simply a strong Emirates. The first one when they are in reign, yes it was Empire I forgot the capital, I think it was Damascus
Yep, after further reading what happened to them is rather sad. Split into TOWNSHIP where each Castle/Town has its own king.... fought each other, degradation of moral and some other brutalities. Brought their own fate to destruction. The Andalusian Ummayad that as strong as shown on this video when they were still Emirates, after that sadly they just like any other rulers. Try find good book about them, I believe in The U.S you should have many options. Mine's translated to Indonesian btw
