Barbie The Welder is an American metal sculptor, published author of six books, and an advocate for the skilled trades from Pompano Beach, Florida.
Growing up in a deeply creative home, Barbie’s Mom is a published cartoonist and her Dad a jack of all trades, Barbie was encouraged by both parents to work with her hands and mind to create. Inspired by the movie Cast Away, starring Tom hanks, Barbie attended an adult welding program at Elmira, New York Boces in November 2007 and was hired at Cameron Manufacturing And Design in Horseheads, New York in March 2008 where she learned the art of welding and fabrication from the brilliant craftsman she worked with. Barbie took her fabrication skills home and taught herself how to design and create art in her garage after work at night and on the weekends.
Barbie quit her job she loved to realize her dream and become a full-time artist September 1, 2014.
Because of the influence Bob Ross had on her growing up, Barbie began teaching how to weld art through her UA-cam channel in 2015 after not being able to find resources to learn.
Soon after she was invited by a publisher to write a book teaching how to weld art, and How To Weld Horseshoe Art; 30 Projects You Can Easily Weld At Home was born. Barbie went on to write and self publish five more books, How To Weld Scrap Metal Art; 30 Easy Welding Projects You Could Make At Home, How To Weld Silverware Animals Metal Art Welding Projects For Fun and Profit, The Inspiration Blueprint; How To Design and Create Your Inspired Life, Fuck You Fuel; How To Turn Shit Into Sugar, and The Artist Guide To Branding, Marketing and Selling Art Online.
Working with Bogi Latiner for a month in 2017 on Bogi’s Girl Gang Garage all woman’s frame up build of a 57 Chevy pick up later unveiled at Sema became a mentorship for Barbie that continues to help her grow herself and her business. Barbies other inspirations include Indian Larry and Billy Lane both who caught her attention through the TV series biker build off in early 2000. The craftsmanship and creativity of both men spoke to her soul.
Barbie started out riding on the gas tank of her dad‘s Honda motorcycle because she was too little to hold on sitting behind him, so when she was asked by Jesse James Dupree, lead singer of Jackyl, to design and create two sculptures for Harley Davidson she jumped at the chance driving the 24 hours to Sturgis by herself from NY and sculpting HOGs 35th anniversary sculpture live at Sturgis motorcycle rally at the Pappy Hoyle Campground and then she returned home to sculpt Harley Davidson’s 115th anniversary sculpture in her garage which was later presented to Harley Davidson on stage during the Jackyl concert at the 115 anniversary celebration in Milwaukee.
Barbie has welded live at Americade Motorcycle Rally, SEMA show in Vegas for Miller Welders, Harley Davidsons 115th Anniversary, and at shows and events up and down the east coast.
Barbie has designed and created sculptures for Miller Welders, the American Welding Society, Chicago Pneumatic, Carolina Shoe Company, two cities and clients in many countries.

Well after 33 years as a Fabby its so fricken cool to see a woman Fabby that's so into it! Where were you in my life 30 years ago!! Rock on girl!!!!
Everybody has a gift and your gift is going to make you a fortune. Thanks for the video's.
I suscribe.
It pleases me to know that every day there are more women integrating in the field of construction, and especially in the field of welding.
Women to power !!!
Greetings from the Basque Country (Euskal Herria)
Hello Barbie, Thank you for your site. Just found you on Utube. I am a 63 year old retired male Nurse. Have been Gathering Info on Welding table builds. Enjoyed your videos. Your Dad must be proud. I have a 30 year old daughter who's just finishing her MSW. I'm sure I'll write again, Kevin H.
+kevin hortens thanks for taking your time to watch and write! 💙👩🏭
I loved this! I’m an English Longbowman. I would really like to give welding a try. You are the prettiest welder I’ve ever seen 😊 … they usually have 2 foot beards😂. Cheers
🤣😂😜 Thank you!! Definitely give it a try if you’re drawn to it! I have a free guide on my website that will answer any questions you have in getting started!
Barbie , Love your videos , I spent most of my career as a field mechanic for a Cat Dealer , I can only weld good enough to get by when repairing equipment. I have learned tons from your videos !!!! My daughter also works in a male dominated profession, she is very good at taking ego driven comments with a grain of salt. She has taught me a lot about a lot of things :) Please keep making videos and working as a welder !!!
+Steve Banjo Thanks for your support and for raising a strong young woman!!
Hello! I'm a novice, a "newbee", and an "old geezer" to boot! This project has given me a LOT of inspiration. I watched your story and am REALLY impressed with the determination you've exhibited to reach professional status. Keep up the GREAT work....I'm a solid "Barbie" fan now! Keep these super videos coming please....

👏👏👏👍💯 This is a great idea and looks awesome❗ 😎👨🔧
Thank you Buddy!
I like your work and videos. I am starting to make some scrap art too and your step by step instructions are very helpful. I found using some welding magnets from Harbor freight helps hold the pieces together so I can spot weld easier
Smart! I’m happy you’re finding the videos helpful! What’s your favorite one so far? What project would you like to see?
Love the work ,spoons and Forks making it with the bow and arrow ,awesome, thanks

@@BarbieTheWelder thank you so much! I have a couple new projects I did and would like to show you. :) I'll get in touch through IG.
Just found your channel and I am learning a lot. I am a beginning art welder. I weld dragonflies, butterflies, and flowers. My wife and I attend four art shows a year and have a small gallery. She is the real artist of the family. Thanks for your easy to follow videos.
I’m so happy they help! I also have a how to weld art book called Horseshoe Crafts and I’m working on another book currently that will be available by the end of October! Thank you kindly for watching my videos!!💙👩🏭
Love archery! Just got my xmas gift idea😁 Thanks for that vid!👍🏼
Awesomeness! Let me know how it goes!!!
@@BarbieTheWelderIt went well. Still new at welding. Followed your instructions. Just used a piece of red/white network wire for the string, twisted to give it a candy cane effect. 😄 Perfect for xmas. She'll love it!
Waaaay cool and nicely done. I'm a long-time woodworker recently converted to a metal art welder. Enjoying it immensely. Never expected to like it SOOO much. Many thanks for the vid!
Thank you kindly!!! Happy welding!
Excellent! Very creative and cool.
Thank you!
I listened to your story about how you got started plasma cutting and welding, you mentioned you had absolutely no support and no one believed in you, but you knew in your heart what your passion was, and had this talent in your soul. I’m amazed at your story and your talent. You have proven all those people wrong. Good for you. I have a similar story, with no support and became a car painter, but because it was mainly a mans world and women weren’t in this line of work no one believed in me, but I proved them all wrong and followed my heart and passion. I am now retired and am interested in plasma art and welding. I watch your videos and give me inspiration. I’m 58 years young and love learning new things. Thank you for sharing your story, and very beautiful artistic talent. Love your passion. Always be true to yourself, and believe in you, never ever listen to what people say you can’t do. I love to bow target as well. I only fish, but love to do archery.
I’m proud of you! 🤘🏻☺️💙👩🏭
Thats cool looking, you have given me a birthday prezzie idea.thanks
I started MIG welding 2 years ago, and wish i had seen a video like yours much earlier :-). Getting a air driven "die grinder" was a big step forward for me - so much easier to control. Didn't know about the pencil grinder - have to try that one as well. Thanks for the video - well done. Pretty sure you meant stainless steel "silverware" but glad you clarified :-)
Thank you kindly Phil!! Happy welding my friend!!
Some great ideas you have Barbie thanks
+casper1240 Thank you kindly!
Awesome! I like how you explain with show & tell demonstration from start to finish. I haven’t done any utensil type of art work yet, just ordered a lot of utensils from eBay. Not a metal artist but I recently did a hex nut & a turtle project, which to my surprise turned out great, and my wife decided to keep them both. Aloha & thanks for sharing your how to project.
☺️☺️☺️
Wow U know your stuff!!!
Nicely done
lol...got the same vice...thumbs up....reaper looks even better.
+Christian Ward Thanks for taking your time to watch my videos!
Great shooting form, you had a good instructor.

Very nice and you are a talented lady
Keep on Keeping on , GOOD JOB!
Just came across your channel and its great you take your time to show how you do it and your good to watch cheers x
Thanks so much for taking your time to watch Dean!
I like it
I've done a lot of flatware art. It's really quick. I prefer Tig welding over mig welding because the welds can be .030 wide.
Nice
Thank you! Are you new to Welding art or have you been creating for a while now?
Nice job! Thank you!
I’m honored! Thank you!☺️
Question about your mig setup, wire feed speed, heat setting, flux core or gas? Nice work and great instructions, thanks.
Love your brain...it's kickass
I would like to see you make to welders welding pipe maybe with a side boom holding one of the pipe and the other on skids
Very cool, nice work!
this is cool as hell!!!!! beautiful work....fun tutorial. subscribed!
+Monroe Thank you kindly for your support!!
Clever ideas
Thank you so very much I appreciate you!
Can you tell me what machine and tools I should buy if I want to learn how to weld yard art? Also do you have a video with a step by step instructions?
Depending on the size of the art you want to make.
Your work is amazing! I too am into archery. Just getting into it but love it. Your so pretty too.
+Bob Keller Thanks Bob! 💙👩🏭
BarbieTheWelder anytime. Love your work. Wish you were closer.
Eres ARTE.🌹🙏🏽❤️👌🏾
You have an infectious smile
Looks like one of Peggy hills sculptures
Excelente muy hermosa, tienes la herramienta necesaria para tantos proyectos, saludos sigue iluminando.
!!Excelente Muy bonito!! Muchas gracias por compartir tus habilidades genia!!. saludos.
Thank you kindly
❤❤❤❤❤
That was aewsome
+oceanpout Thank you!😊
Silly question. For someone who has never welded, is there another technique to provide the same stability in connecting the metals? I don’t suppose soldering would do the trick? And if not, what (Inexpensive) beginner welding machine would you recommend? Thank you in advance
Not silly at all!! amzn.to/3oXbNVm is an inexpensive and easy welding machine that will allow you to weld a wide variety of projects!
Very cool. Gives me some ideas for a piece a friend of mine commissioned.
Many thanks, Great video.
Thank you kindly!
Hi Barbie! You've inspired my daughter to create some pieces from forks and spoons! My question is about spot welding stainless steel forks and spoons with flux core wire on the MIG welder without the use of gas. Is this possible? If heard differing opinions. Any thoughts you have would be most appreciated! Your projects are so creative!
Tack welding with flux core works just the same as gas mig, just more smokey 😉
Very nice project.
Hi Barbie,
If I recall correctly, did you say you use a tumbler to clean parts to remove something so they are not toxic when you weld them ? If so can you briefly touch on that subject
Thanks and great work and thanks for teaching us some of your skills
I love it,
+Andrew Paulson Thank you!😊
I am very new to all of this trying to make sure I am using correct wire but wire feed setting for flatware. Amy ideas. I all see your table is metal so your work can be on the table and ground clamp to the table. Correct
Yes! My favorite Welder to learn from on UA-cam is Welding tipsandtricks.com. Jody is amazing and will share all the information you need to help you get started and be comfortable and confident Welding!
Ya me gustaría tener un taller como el Tullo yo también tengo buenas manos con los hierros
You have to eat with your fingers as you make great artwork from your cutlery at that pace🥰💙
🤣😉
Your awesome:)
Hi, did you use Argon or any gas for welding ?, or just the MIG machine?
75/25 with the MIG argon with tig
👍 thank you
I used to buy spoons by the hundreds from Goodwill for welded flowers and almost cleaned out 4 stores worth for a whole summer.
+Bob Stout lol yes me too!!! They can’t figure out why I go through so many!😜
ive only just started this and went mad buying loads of cutlery off charity shops and ebay not really sure what cutlery you can weld i tried the stick welder but it just burned up the metal,im now using the mig its a lot better but i cant seem to get the right setting (must try harder) as my teacher used to tell me .im using gasless cored mig wire any suggestions would be helpful thanks
+casper1240 that should work as long as your have enough heat and your welding stainless steel silverware
I have difficulty recognising what material cutlery is i did some yesterday welded it with the Mig found out later it was brass never thought that would weld wierd would the magnet test work on cutlery ?
+casper1240 Most is Stainless Steel so not on that or on silver plated only the cheaper steel stuff.
MIG is so fast and precise, but requires gas for best results, from what I've read. Could this type of precise work be done with arc/stick welding?
I’m interested in trying some of the silverware sculptures but know very little about welding. I have a Harbor Freight store not too far away. Was wondering what kind of welder to use and what settings you use?
A mig welder with gas that runs on 110. amzn.to/3qz6adA
Very very nice!!! FYI, I just ordered the horseshoe book from Amazon, promise to review it (if it's good, which I suspect it is), and followed ya on farcebook, and subscribed to your youtube. Thanks for all the cool videos.
+BladeforgerKLX Thank you!😊
I can't wait to try this. I wonder if my wife will notice the missing silverware?
🤣🤣🤣she will if she’s anything like my kids who definitely noticed!🤣🤣🤣
Can you mentioned amps and wire speed etc when you do these? Great work. Thanks!
Re Silc, It totally depends on what welder you have, what size wire you are running, what type of gas you are using and a few other things. I always suggest using some similar size scapes to tune your welder if you are a beginner and just trying to figure it all out.
Hope that helps.
good vid thanks ive done a lot of welding with mild steel etc only jut started welding cutlery findin git a bit tricky any tips ?
+casper1240 TIG weld and only use stainless steel silverware. Silverplate wont weld for nothing!
As usual, great!, kisses
Very much enjoy your videos... thanks . What wire do you use on the silverware? We ER70s-6 work?
I use .030 er70s-6 It’s steel wire but will weld stainless steel silverware. When I’m finished I use a clear coat spray paint made for metal.
Are you using a special type wire to weld the spoons together or is it just everyday wire?
Everyday wire meaning... a Flux Core Welding Wire or wire used for Sterling Silver?
Brilliant job I'll have to try make one myself!
I am look at doing flatware people what is your setting on your wire feed
My setting won’t help you. Inside your welder is a chart when you open up the door to put in the wire it’s on the back of the door that gives you general settings for your material thickness type of material and wire thickness. Use it as a starting point and play around until you find the settings that work for you you might have to weld faster or turn up the heat or welds slower or turned on the heat depending on your results.
Can i flux core weld wire silverware with Blue Demon Stainless Steel 308LFC-0 gasless flux core MIG wire?
You should be able to flux core weld with the stainless steel wire, as long as the silverware is stainless steel. It won’t work on silver plate.
