    Barbie The Welder is an American metal sculptor, published author of six books, and an advocate for the skilled trades from Pompano Beach, Florida.
    Growing up in a deeply creative home, Barbie’s Mom is a published cartoonist and her Dad a jack of all trades, Barbie was encouraged by both parents to work with her hands and mind to create. Inspired by the movie Cast Away, starring Tom hanks, Barbie attended an adult welding program at Elmira, New York Boces in November 2007 and was hired at Cameron Manufacturing And Design in Horseheads, New York in March 2008 where she learned the art of welding and fabrication from the brilliant craftsman she worked with. Barbie took her fabrication skills home and taught herself how to design and create art in her garage after work at night and on the weekends.
    Barbie quit her job she loved to realize her dream and become a full-time artist September 1, 2014.
    Because of the influence Bob Ross had on her growing up, Barbie began teaching how to weld art through her UA-cam channel in 2015 after not being able to find resources to learn.
    Soon after she was invited by a publisher to write a book teaching how to weld art, and How To Weld Horseshoe Art; 30 Projects You Can Easily Weld At Home was born. Barbie went on to write and self publish five more books, How To Weld Scrap Metal Art; 30 Easy Welding Projects You Could Make At Home, How To Weld Silverware Animals Metal Art Welding Projects For Fun and Profit, The Inspiration Blueprint; How To Design and Create Your Inspired Life, Fuck You Fuel; How To Turn Shit Into Sugar, and The Artist Guide To Branding, Marketing and Selling Art Online.
    Working with Bogi Latiner for a month in 2017 on Bogi’s Girl Gang Garage all woman’s frame up build of a 57 Chevy pick up later unveiled at Sema became a mentorship for Barbie that continues to help her grow herself and her business. Barbies other inspirations include Indian Larry and Billy Lane both who caught her attention through the TV series biker build off in early 2000. The craftsmanship and creativity of both men spoke to her soul.
    Barbie started out riding on the gas tank of her dad‘s Honda motorcycle because she was too little to hold on sitting behind him, so when she was asked by Jesse James Dupree, lead singer of Jackyl, to design and create two sculptures for Harley Davidson she jumped at the chance driving the 24 hours to Sturgis by herself from NY and sculpting HOGs 35th anniversary sculpture live at Sturgis motorcycle rally at the Pappy Hoyle Campground and then she returned home to sculpt Harley Davidson’s 115th anniversary sculpture in her garage which was later presented to Harley Davidson on stage during the Jackyl concert at the 115 anniversary celebration in Milwaukee.
    Barbie has welded live at Americade Motorcycle Rally, SEMA show in Vegas for Miller Welders, Harley Davidsons 115th Anniversary, and at shows and events up and down the east coast.
    Barbie has designed and created sculptures for Miller Welders, the American Welding Society, Chicago Pneumatic, Carolina Shoe Company, two cities and clients in many countries.

    Barbie , Love your videos , I spent most of my career as a field mechanic for a Cat Dealer , I can only weld good enough to get by when repairing equipment. I have learned tons from your videos !!!! My daughter also works in a male dominated profession, she is very good at taking ego driven comments with a grain of salt. She has taught me a lot about a lot of things :) Please keep making videos and working as a welder !!!

    I listened to your story about how you got started plasma cutting and welding, you mentioned you had absolutely no support and no one believed in you, but you knew in your heart what your passion was, and had this talent in your soul. I’m amazed at your story and your talent. You have proven all those people wrong. Good for you. I have a similar story, with no support and became a car painter, but because it was mainly a mans world and women weren’t in this line of work no one believed in me, but I proved them all wrong and followed my heart and passion. I am now retired and am interested in plasma art and welding. I watch your videos and give me inspiration. I’m 58 years young and love learning new things. Thank you for sharing your story, and very beautiful artistic talent. Love your passion. Always be true to yourself, and believe in you, never ever listen to what people say you can’t do. I love to bow target as well. I only fish, but love to do archery.

    I started MIG welding 2 years ago, and wish i had seen a video like yours much earlier :-). Getting a air driven "die grinder" was a big step forward for me - so much easier to control. Didn't know about the pencil grinder - have to try that one as well. Thanks for the video - well done. Pretty sure you meant stainless steel "silverware" but glad you clarified :-)

    Hi Barbie! You've inspired my daughter to create some pieces from forks and spoons! My question is about spot welding stainless steel forks and spoons with flux core wire on the MIG welder without the use of gas. Is this possible? If heard differing opinions. Any thoughts you have would be most appreciated! Your projects are so creative!

      +casper1240 Most is Stainless Steel so not on that or on silver plated only the cheaper steel stuff.

    MIG is so fast and precise, but requires gas for best results, from what I've read. Could this type of precise work be done with arc/stick welding?

    I’m interested in trying some of the silverware sculptures but know very little about welding. I have a Harbor Freight store not too far away. Was wondering what kind of welder to use and what settings you use?

    Very very nice!!! FYI, I just ordered the horseshoe book from Amazon, promise to review it (if it's good, which I suspect it is), and followed ya on farcebook, and subscribed to your youtube. Thanks for all the cool videos.

    Can you mentioned amps and wire speed etc when you do these? Great work. Thanks!

      Re Silc, It totally depends on what welder you have, what size wire you are running, what type of gas you are using and a few other things. I always suggest using some similar size scapes to tune your welder if you are a beginner and just trying to figure it all out.
      Hope that helps.

    Very much enjoy your videos... thanks . What wire do you use on the silverware? We ER70s-6 work?

    • @BarbieTheWelder
      @BarbieTheWelder  4 роки тому

      I use .030 er70s-6 It’s steel wire but will weld stainless steel silverware. When I’m finished I use a clear coat spray paint made for metal.

    Are you using a special type wire to weld the spoons together or is it just everyday wire?

    • @whiskey7959

      Everyday wire meaning... a Flux Core Welding Wire or wire used for Sterling Silver?

    I am look at doing flatware people what is your setting on your wire feed

    • @BarbieTheWelder
      @BarbieTheWelder  2 роки тому

      My setting won’t help you. Inside your welder is a chart when you open up the door to put in the wire it’s on the back of the door that gives you general settings for your material thickness type of material and wire thickness. Use it as a starting point and play around until you find the settings that work for you you might have to weld faster or turn up the heat or welds slower or turned on the heat depending on your results.

    Can i flux core weld wire silverware with Blue Demon Stainless Steel 308LFC-0 gasless flux core MIG wire?

    • @BarbieTheWelder
      @BarbieTheWelder  Рік тому

      You should be able to flux core weld with the stainless steel wire, as long as the silverware is stainless steel. It won’t work on silver plate.
