I'm super late discovering SB19, they got me at GENTO. So after learning that the song i've been so irritated with turned out to be a heartfelt homage and love for parents and not some syrupy love song, and bawling my eyes out until i fell asleep, i searched and watched all the RVs, finding comfort in them, as i feel i have failed in giving back to my oarents all their sacrifices and love and care, i wish i had done more. They've passed away long time ago, more than 10yrs ago... But i still long for them and miss them so much... I find the RVs therapeutic, finding some sort of a community with the reactors and commenters... Thank you for sharing your RV. 💘
Napaka emotional talaga ng kantang to.
What sets this reaction video apart among others is that this one is so raw and full of emotions. I love how NJoe showed his vulnerable side in this reaction video. Kinda relates to his story of his mother too.
Grabe un MAPA dami pinaiyak na reactors. It really hits hard. The song is really great and hits hard in the hearts plus the way they sing it oh no.. tears can't hold back..
I can't imagine Josh and Ken singing their parts live, growing up without their dads by their sides. Not even a memory to reminisce for Josh as he never met his dad. He had to fight for his life on his own. While Ken's grandma who stood as his parent, just recently passed away and he was not able to see her for the last time before she died. 🥺 But they are strong to take on the song 😭
MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) | Mapa = Map (English) Our Map is our MaPa in this Life journey. | Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). In the Filipino culture, we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still and its time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the days and time they give and sacrifices for us. This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again. For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa. For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute. Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them. Each one of us has a story to tell with regard to our MaPa and Mapa. I wanna hear em. You may share and comment your story here. This second single, MAPA answers the “Where” from this comeback. IF the song “What” is proudly swinging our Flags, this “Where” is talking about our Origin, our parents and wherever we go, we will always go back to ur family.
the song really hits me... in my heart... i feel like im going to cry everytime coz the song makes me wish my papa is still here. I never got the chance to provide for him after all the hardwork and sacrifices he did. T___T i miss my papa
It melodically sound sad but the song itself is a tribute for our parents. And a constant reminder that we must convey our feelings with our MAPA's as long as they are alive.
We all cried , MAPA is a soft reminders to all, to love parent while you have the chance and not to regret after. Give all the love, make them happy and see the smile on their face.
Umiiyak ako na sa song mo. Pero it hits home because I lost my dad a couple of months ago ngayon. Josh sings the words I wanted to say to my dad before he passed away
"MaPa" in english translation "Map" but is also short for Mama and Papa the song is for having thanks to parents. They guided is like a map so we will never get lost
Loved every part of the song. I started to get allergies as soon as the word 'Mama' was mentioned. Then it lasted the entire night so ended up with swollen eyes in the morning. Yeah.. That happened. 😭😭😭
“Lataratara” is what mothers sing kapag hinihili nila ang mga bata sa duyan to sleep. It’s so clever of Pablo to add such a simple syllables that usually don’t mean anything but brings a soothing feel to the song. Such nostalgia
I feel you Njoe. Behind all those smiles is the pain that we are feeling seeing our mother is in pain. Praying for your mom's healing and fast recovery. 🙏💙
there's already a live version of it!!! y'all don't have to record y'alls reaction to it just wanted to tell you guys! if you have free time panoorin niyo sa sarili niyo mas maganda yung live version pls 😩
i'm so sorry to hear ur mom is sick njoe 😢 hope she feels better asap. i've watched mapa several times already and still cry. love for parents hits so much diff to us omg
i kinda think..the 'LATARA TARA..' is like 'uyayi'..not actualy words but what you'd humm..or something fo lullabye...but instead of the parent singing lullabye for the child...it's the child singing a lullabye for the parent... same emotions for josh for PAPA... and Ken had a really really hard time recording this song...because his lola just died when they recorded this...the very same lola who was the only one who knew na luluwas siya ng Manila para mag SHOWBT...and nagpabaon sa kanya ng 1500.. thank you guys for sharing your stories! naku buong araw din ako umiiyak nagbabasa ng stories ng mga tao sa twitter and sa comments section sa lyrics video..kayo kasi! Finally! been waiting for your reaction to MAPA. And I'm pretty sure you know this by now but I'm still gonna comment it anyway. I hope you watch their live performance of MAPA on their Music Showcase that premiered earlier.
Here's my theory to the word "Lataratara", if you sing it continuously it can sound "Literatura" or Literature in English, and from its root word LETTER. This song is indeed a LETTER from a Child to their Parents. 😊😉
MaPa sounds way better live. They just performed it awhile ago and they are all wearing white, singing like angels, it makes me feel like I'm on heaven. Sorry for spoiling 😂
Stay strong NJOE, your bond with your mom is precious. I've seen her take part in your reaction videos and she is such a supportive and loving mother. 💙 Sending healing prayers for your mom. 💙 Anyway, Pablo said the latara tara part was the lullaby his mom sang to him. 💙
Hahahahaha. Somebody thought it had to do with cans? Well I was thinking it had to do with Atsara. Because it sounded like Latsaratsara. It turns out Lataratara is a very old Spanish lullaby - LaTierra Tierra. Like more than 300 years old. I watched a Spanish make a reaction and they did not connect it to that.

For me, Josh's Part hits different, because we all knew that Josh didn't get a chance to meet his father since he was born 😔

The way claire reacted to Stell's first, Njoe to Josh part and Anji to Ken's lines is so meeee T_T
It is more emotional to have josh and ken sing the PAPA part... both of them doesn't have their father with them growing up...
It melodically sound sad but the song itself is a tribute for our parents. And a constant reminder that we must convey our feelings with our MAPA's as long as they are alive.
