So I'm going to talk to you tonight about decrees.
That's not new to me.
I talk about that often, but I don't teach on it often.
But I'm going to talk to you about the power of our words,
why we make decrees, and what the Bible says about that.
And I may do the same thing in the morning.
I'll just see how far I get into this tonight.
I assume there's no time restraint.
If you happen to be here from a different stream
and you're used to an hour long service,
you already kind of get the idea
that that's kind of... you're in trouble, right?
But that's okay.
We're glad you're here if that's you.
But Job 22:28 says,
and a lot of people quote this, but why is it true?
It says, "You will decree a thing and it'll be established."
Now, it's obvious in the context there.
It's not talking about God. It is talking about us.
Well, can we just decree anything we want?
How does this work?
Can I just say anything and know that I'll get it?
Why? How does this work?
I remember in... this must have been in the, '83 or '84.
I mean, I was just like two years old.
I don't tell this story much, but I'll tell you tonight
that I had warts on my hands and probably,
I think it was somewhere in the 40s.
I think it was around 45 warts on these two, on my,
not just this hand, both hands, these two hands, okay,
both of them.
But they started on this finger and, you know,
they just kind of spread to both hands.
And by the time of the story,
when the story took place I'm going to share with you,
by the time this happened,
they had spread to where all three fingernails
on these three fingers were, I had no cuticle left.
It was just a wart, this growth around it.
This finger, where it all started,
I had no fingernail left.
Just the whole end of my finger was this growth.
And I had been to the doctor and said, you know,
I mean, it was just, it was annoying.
It was also, it was a distraction.
You know, it was just obvious and looked strange.
And I, so, and the doctors actually said,
"We don't still want to burn these.
I mean, there's just too many,
and in the places where they are, we're afraid
we'd just damage your hand and your fingers so badly,
we just don't feel like we can do it."
So, I thought, well, okay.
And then I went to have people
that I knew believed in healing, and I asked them
to agree in prayer with me, and that didn't seem to work.
And I had the elders anoint me with oil and pray over me.
That's biblical, right?
And that didn't work.
And I had one guy, he said,
"Ah, I got a real anointing for that stuff.
I'll curse them, and they'll go away."
And I said, "You curse all you want.
Just any word you want to come up with, curse."
Oh, he said, "No, that's not what I mean."
I said, "Okay, well, whatever."
But he prayed for me and he cursed my warts
and told them to go away, and they didn't.
And then in that season,
there were a lot of ministries moving in signs,
wonders, words of knowledge.
You know, it was kind of a wave.
It's kind of waned a little.
It'll be back.
But there was just a lot of people
moving in gifts of healing.
And I can remember being in services
where the person was calling out words of knowledge.
Someone was here, over here is being healed of this.
Someone over here is being healed.
That, and there were some, I saw dramatic miracles,
not just, I think my back's better,
but you don't really know, you know.
I mean, creative miracles.
One girl that Cece and I knew personally
had no toenails, and she didn't even know it was happening.
Of course, she didn't wear open toed shoes
because she was embarrassed about it.
So, she went home from the service
and took her shoes off and started screaming.
And all her roommates, this is a Christ filled nation,
all her roommates, "What's wrong, what's wrong?"
She says, "I got toenails."
There was no word of knowledge.
There was no prayer.
There was no, she was just in that atmosphere
where the power of the Lord was present to heal,
and she didn't even know it was happening
so she borrowed some open toed shoes
and painted her toenails
and came the next day and gave her testimony, right?
That went, lots of healings.
Well, you know, I get in a service like that.
I kind of, you know, let the Lord just kind of, you know,
worship like this.
Yeah. Both hands, you know.
He didn't see me.
But you know, He, I had, in my short life at that time,
I was, I'm sure I was 29.
So, I had sat under just some of the best teachers
in the world on faith and the Word of God
and the power of prayer and miracles and signs and wonders.
