As a kayak guy this thinking is super important. Here in the Ozarks I like to find an area where I can fish some points, some pockets, some bluff channel swings and maybe a dock or two without traveling too far.
Thanks Tyler, that was so helpful setting up a game plan. Long time sub from Ohio and making the jump from tiny boat to my first Nitro this year and will be on Alum and Buckeye. Basically trained with all your vids over the years and really excited to finally put it all together.
Good stuff as always. Looking forward to the way you break a contour map down. You should come to northeast Tennessee and break down Watauga Lake, aka the Dead Sea. It’s a tough lake to fish but has been known to produce some giant smallmouth. I’ve heard rumors of 10+ pounders in there; however, the biggest I’ve seen is a couple pushing 7 pounds.
I have been doing a series on TikTok live, called a look at the lake, and I break down different bodies of water for different viewers that join my live I love looking at contour maps as well I find it to be Beneficial, and a huge timesaver!!
I'm looking forward to seeing you do the contour map breakdown. Can't wait for it.

Ricky Clunn used a similar method.
One should NEVER try to break down a new lake without a thermos of hot coffee!! These things take time.
Coffee is a must
