I really like the message you're sending here Caitlin. I had fine skin before I was vegan but when I went HCLF it went crazy, I had cystic like pimples on my neck and sometimes on my face and I was really starting to worry but slowly I worked through it and found that my skin was far better with a teeny bit more fat (avo and flaxseed mainly) and a little less sugary fruits (cut out dates and reduced banana intake, upped my leafy greens) and saw a marked improvement. I like that you aren't completely cutting out oils etc because it's a little obsessive when they're just mild pimples, I am completely with you here.
i really needed that talk at the end of the video. thank you!! i cried today because of my acne. i have let my acne keep me from doing a lot of things and it has really taken a toll on my confidence. I have been vegan for almost a year now and i still have really bad cystic acne. i even went on accutane (before i was vegan). my acne is just purely genetic; my mom and dad both used to have really bad acne when they were young. i just have to accept the fact that there is nothing i can do about it
I've been vegetarian since January 2016 and I expected that to help with my acne and it's not! I'm going to cut out dairy and see how that helps! Thank you for this video, you have beautiful skin!
You should! Dairy is usually the culprit for acne. That's why I cut it out of my life lol. Don't forget to drink lots of water too and eat lots of fruit/ greens 😃
If anyone is interested in my update. I've been vegan since June 3rd 2016 and it's been 3 months for me on this lifestyle and honestly, my skin hasn't really changed at all. I'm still breaking out a whole lot. Like big ones. I'm drinking tons of water. Not eating canned foods. I'm probably about to start an elimination diet or go see a doctor. Sometimes that's all you can do, is see a specialist. Ugh.
Vegan for a whole year now, exercise for 2hrs 5xs a week, drink TONS of water, wash my face every morning and night, and still have so much acne :'( the only think I could try improving is not picking at it or touching my face but ugh I wish this tips actually helped me. But its great they did for you! your skin looks great! :)
Like I said, maybe you should be less concerned with having acne and more concerned with how you are living your life to the fullest :) I'm definitely not a specialist and like I said, you can't always just "cure" acne. If you are really concerned I would make an appointment with a naturopath or specialist and check your hormone levels
Like I said, having acne is not the end of the world! We all should relax about it and realize that sometimes you are just more likely to get it! There are a lot of things like hormones, etc, that also play a major role
i used to have same acne problem especially on my forehead even when i exercise regularly. Turns out i was very acidic, and had to eat more neutralising food. I've eliminated dairy completely and every morning i would drink cucumber & banana smoothie or any green juice. And my skincare needed to use the ones with deep cleansing scrub to clear out my pores EVERY TIME .
Charlotte van Steen I discovered that eating whole foods until I'm satisfied (not full) when I'm hungry is the best. Also Lowering fat and sugars from fruit nuts and seeds (not eliminating), including more vegetables and drinking 2.5 to 3 liters of water helped me a lot.
What were you looking at in the corner? Lol it kind of seemed like you were reading off something at the beginning. But I liked this video! I totally touch my face all the time (I was resting my face on my hand while watching XD)
I got severe acne when I moved in the U.S. I am now vegetarian and it helped a lot, I still get some pimples when I eat too much cheese though. I just wash my face with african black soap every 2 days, and stop touching my face also helped
I have a concern... I'm asking instead of seeing a doctor or dermatologist because I do not have health insurance. But my skin has always been amazing, glowy and clear but when I went vegan my skin immediately freaked out and is the polar opposite of how it used to be. I get multiple new inflamed pimples daily and some are cystic and hurt very very bad. I have smaller little black and whiteheads covering the rest of my face. This is something I've never experienced and I have been vegan now for 8 months. Most people say that the detox period should last about a few months but I've been dealing with this since the week I went vegan and it hasn't gotten better one bit over the months. This is obviously because of my diet change instead of hormones or other causes because it happened exactly as I made that huge change. I'm pretty much desperate at this point. Any ideas?
Since this comment it has been getting colder out and I have really dry flaky skin so I was on the hunt for a natural oil or oil mixture I could use as a moisturizer, and I started to hear about how good jojoba oil can be for acne and rosehip oil for acne scars so ive been doing that for about a month. I use a skinbrush once a week with dr. bronners and moisturize with a mixture of the oils, and the other days I just gently cleanse with my fingers using dr. bronners and use the oils to moisturize. Most of the actual breakouts are gone. I get them like one or two at a time now and my scars are fading! My skin just overall is more glowy. Im hoping I found my cure.
Try cutting out soy? It's probably something you are eating.... my skin was sensitive to soy! Rose hip oil is so nice. I hope your skin gets better and better
Hello! As someone who has very oily, acne prone skin, I thought that by switching to a vegan, my acne would go away in instant. But in actual, my acne actually worsened...and it was like that around the first 6-8 months. However, in my 13th year of being vegan, my skin is almost clear. Just a little bumps here especially in my jawline. I personally think that thru time, proper skincare routine and toms of fruits and veggies, your skin will get better in no time! Hang in there!
I liked this video.. I have acne.. and suffered cystic acne.. my face get's breakouts on occasion , but my cystic acne has been getting worse. I stopped eating dairy, and it has helped. soy does have a play on acne as well. so, I cut out allot of soy products. once in awhile. I will have some tofu.. dairy also flares up chronic pain which I have as well.. so , being a vegetarian has helped out so much. I use raw organic apple cider vinegar and water, as a face and body toner. I love it.
Newer to the vegan lifestyle but I as well as many experienced an increase in my acne. After some research it turns out that some can have a reaction to too much b12 which all vegans need to supplement. Our body only needs a certain amount and most vitamins in pill form can over-supplement. I'm adjusting how much I take and seeing what difference it makes if any.
I'll drink more water but not 2l a day. Don't forget your food also supplies your daily water needs as well as drinking straight water. I don't want to have to visit the bathroom every 10 minutes!
A good skin clearing cruelty free skin clearing product is Shea moisture's African black soap and their African black moisturizer. I've just gotten the product, but my family members have been using it and their skin has cleared up so much. I'm going to back a before video and update monthly to show my results.
Derp Ina I would recommend soy or almond milk. They have 50% more calcium that cow milk. I love the silk chocolate almond or soy milk. I've never struggled with my weight however so the chocolate milk might not work as well if that's a concern. In that case I would just recommend the original.
kale, collard greens, arugula and watercress are really high in calcium. spinach is very high in oxalates, which prevents calcium absorption, though it does have a lot of calcium. chia seeds are also a creat source of calcium! :)
Do anyone know about Fopobiacne Secrets? Does it really work? I hear a lot of people break free from their acne with this popular natural acne treatment.
Since I became vegan (5 months ago) I noticed my hair grows faster and my face is cleaner

Exactly! Sometimes we just need to relax and worry less about it 😊

Honestly, I think it's also largely dependent on genetics as well as stress..
did cutting out dairy help you? are you still vegan?
Caitlin was so little😭😭😍
i loved your heartfelt message at the end, i really needed to hear that right now thank you😭💗
you are amazing! thank you for the tips ❤
amazing, rational, compassionate video. I love it :)

maybe you should look more into your diet :D you could be more acidic, or hormones are imbalance, or take it easy on yourself hehe
i have done all of these things but my acne is still here 😥
Like I said, having acne is not the end of the world! We all should relax about it and realize that sometimes you are just more likely to get it! There are a lot of things like hormones, etc, that also play a major role
Try looking into intermittent fasting & when u break ur fast slowly introduce foods u eat daily, keep up with the ingredients
I agree with all these!! They help so much. Drinking a lot of water is HUGE!!
I agree! It made a huge difference for me

Charlotte van Steen Let me know if it helped =)
+Charlotte van Steen eat ad many fruit as you want tho
The carbs might be the problem...
What were you looking at in the corner? Lol it kind of seemed like you were reading off something at the beginning. But I liked this video! I totally touch my face all the time (I was resting my face on my hand while watching XD)
Haha I was just staring off into space thinking because I didn't have a script or write out what I wanted to say 😜
Haha okay. I'm happy you've been doing a bunch of videos lately! The 30 day challenge was really fun to watch =)

Yessss African black soap is life 🖤

Love this! Kisses from France !
How many times a week do you shower/wash your hair?
I'll drink more water but not 2l a day. Don't forget your food also supplies your daily water needs as well as drinking straight water. I don't want to have to visit the bathroom every 10 minutes!
Amazing video thank you!! I just found your Instagram! 💚
ahhhhhhh!!! thank you
hoped for tips that I didn't try......how to go vegan when I'm already one 😂 ? cause it looks like the only solution

what are some good vegan face/ acne washes?
How do you manage calcium on a vegan diet? That's my only concern, please advice :)
Derp Ina I would recommend soy or almond milk. They have 50% more calcium that cow milk. I love the silk chocolate almond or soy milk. I've never struggled with my weight however so the chocolate milk might not work as well if that's a concern. In that case I would just recommend the original.
Annie Jacobs thanks Annie 💕
Calcium can also be found in dark leafy greens (kale, spinach, etc) :)
2 tablespoons of chia seeds has x3 the amount of calcium than dairy milk.
kale, collard greens, arugula and watercress are really high in calcium. spinach is very high in oxalates, which prevents calcium absorption, though it does have a lot of calcium. chia seeds are also a creat source of calcium! :)
man I feel like I'm doing all of these things and my acne still doesn't go anywhere... wtf 😭😭😭
Amaziiing
💖
loved this video :)
Thank you x
What are some vegan face washes that you use
I'll be posting my skincare routine this Friday :)
+Caitlin Shoemaker wooo!!
My skin looks like your before but my lifestyle resemblws your now oh nooo😭😂
Yes! Going vegan is really the key for good skin :D
What camera do you use to film?
I have stopped touching my face but sometimes when my face itches a bit I instinctively scratch it.. Is that bad?
What do you recommend for dry bumpy red skin on the forehead?
Is olive oil a processed oil?
Yes, all oils are processed oils because they were removed from the original plant source (in this case, the olive!)

Hello there, I want to know if Fopobiacne Secrets, will work for me? I see a lot of people keep on talking about this popular acne remedy.
