i bought the avet trx quad 50w from you guys last year and it works awesome for the goliath grouper we have down here in southwest florida you need every oz of drag thst reel has to stop them things so they dont get you in the wreck thanks again for all your help i went through hell and back trying to find that reel charkbait's coustomer service is top notch!
Nice presentation, Glad I fished SoCal long range tuna during my younger days. Bringing SoCal standup style to Texas and Puerto Rico. Wondering how this Avet EX50/2 compares to a Shimano TLD 50/2 and Penn Intl 50 SW/2. I do like my Intl's performance after Cal Sheets upgrades the bearings and drag.
I own two Avet 50's, purchased many years ago. Frankly, they kill the shimano and the older Penn Intl. reels even after Cal does his thing. TLD's will literally blow up when fished over 20 lbs drag, the reel foot breaks, sounds like a gun going off when it does. The Intl won't turn near the drag which the Avet does, (though not positive on what numbers Cal is turning these days). Cal can improve the freespool, but still a lot of wasted space and mass. The Penn is fine for troll duty, no issue at all. Looking backwards, cost of Cal's work not cheap can be well over $200 for blueprinting and drag improvement, bearing replacement adding cost that will approach $300. The Avet does it for under $600 with no mod needed.
@@nocknload5287 Thanks, but I'm not missing the show one little bit. We have our largest sale of the year during that time and it's a blast. Save a ton of $ and put that to price markdowns (over $20K), I get to sleep on time, don't have to rebuild the shop after, don't kill my staff (or myself), don't scratch up gear from moving, don't have a theft problem at night. While I love yacking with folks at shows, seemed to me we could do a better job going in a different direction. It's been a good change for us and the folks that flock here during the sale. Something to look forward to, most assuredly.
great video. im lookin into a EX 50 for big shark fishing from the beach. and i want the line capacity just because ive heard of 12foot Hammers pull 700yrds in a run. i might have to order from you guys just because i love the red!
I know this is late but never trust avets line capacity specs lol. I put 600 yards of 130 JB hollow on my avet 50w and filled it up about 3/4 and got about 100 yards of 130 mono on it. Avet said it would fit 1400 yards of 130 braid. I know the specs will vary with line diameter but I bet I could only put 900 yards of 130 braid on my 50w
Sorry, didn't catch the message... But, I can't remember failures of Torques. If related to 2005 long range season outside Mag Bay, I only remember one person fishing an international and I believe he got a 200 pounder. I remember failure of shimano, remember Accurate ATD's getting 1 fish and being toast (the angler fishing them had three in his aresal and used all to good effect. Accurate stepped up their game after. The Avet's surprised the heck out of me by being rock solid, fishing their 50 narrows.
30's and 50's are the typical trollers, however Raptors can do the job also though they are lighter framed pieces. It's a matter of line test being used which will dictate the reel used and Raptors can indeed work. But, if you were working with say 80# or greater line, and you planned serious trolling use - primary use, I'd recommend the Pro series given greater mass and overall strength.
+BLACK GUN HQ I would not necessarily say the TRx is more suitable than the 80. Both produce far more drag than I'll want to handle, so in my thinking it's a question of line capacity in determining the best reel for the job.
Depends on the person doing the casting. For most, probably something in the MX series, though for me it's the JX. Probably a matter of your personal most used line test. That's going to determine the capacity of line you'll need and the size reel that offers the needed length.
Still the best breakdown of Avets on UA-cam. Thank you

YAY! Ive waited for a video like this for so long!
Wow...he remembers back to 2005, I can't remember last week
great reviews thanks

+sportfisher7 Agreed

Thankyou just wasn't sure if the Wide had been released yet. I knew the Narrow had been. How do these stack against the tiagras and inters ?
What rod would go well with the ex 30
When will the 80W-3 be released?
I have an avet sx raptor for a year and half already, how do you oil an avet reel

130# hollow and 130# braid are two different animals.
@charkbaitUSA did the penn VSX or torques have failures on your trip?? thank you in advance

Does the avet trx 50w come in lefty like the other models?
Which Raptor Avet reel which u use for trolling?

CharkBaitUSA If I order it from you, can you have it all rig up with top shot and everything.
@@Sir_ai Of course, that's what we do for a living! We actually include appropriate rigging in the purchase price of the reels (braid and mono).
For shark fishing applications would the trx 50w be more suitable than the exw 80 thanks in advance

is it possible to put the lever ratchet of a mxl raptor on a mxl 5.8
Which is the best for casting far

your rite the free spool is bad ass
Be careful with avet line capacity. I only got 600 yards of 130 JB hollow on my 50w and its rated for 1400 yards
I AM GONNA NEED A HUGE SENIOR CITIZENS DISCOUNT
***** do you think the Avet HXW is castable
+Jeggs Sure, though being wider it's not as comfortable to do so than the standard width model.
Wow, I really need to check for messages.... YES!
