Here, Jarvis talks to Faber Publishing Director Lee Brackstone about writing lyrics, his inspiration, habits and thoughts on putting together his first published collection.

Ha ha, that is his flipping style! He's always been unique. A stylist would just make him look the same as everyone else.
When I try getting into a band, I have a habit of starting with their first releases, which I know isn’t always the best way to do it, but regardless, it was no different for when I first listened to Pulp. The first Pulp song I heard where the lyrics really blew me away was “I Want You” from the Freaks album. That’s still my favorite Pulp song and the lyrics still really amaze me, years later. In their own weird way, the lyrics to that song were kind of a blueprint for what Jarvis would do in the future with his lyrics.
If there's ever to be a "jarvis encyclopaedia of toughs"... then, not only I would buy it, but I would also make a religion of it..... I love his mind

On the top shelf in the frame to Jarvis' right you can see two volumes of Jonathan Sumption's The Hundred Years War series. Good stuff.
He wasn't embarrassed enough by Shakespeare Rock not to quote the whole chorus. That lyric really is a stinker, though.
