  • Freedom. All our lives we've been told that freedom means being unrestrained-no rules, no limits. Trouble is, we've chased that freedom, and found only fear and isolation. In reality, freedom isn't really about restraints. It's about meaning. This weekend, professional horse trainer Todd Pierce is going to show us-through the eyes of an untamed horse-what it looks like to leave behind our wildness and embrace the freedom that a loving God offers.
    Special thanks to Todd Pierce from Riding High Ministries for being with us this weekend. For more information, see www.ridinghighministries.org/

      Many years ago, I had a colt that I was having trouble breaking. I had a friend of mine try to break her. Even he had a hard time as well. I too was using ‘ The old school way”. Had I known about this way of training at the time, I have no doubt that we would have had great success. It wasn’t until I went to a horse riding camp for English riding that I learned about this kind of training. It made me sick when I thought about what I put my colt thru. I had already sold the colt to a friend but when I got home I called the new owner and asked if I could work with her. She said of course. So, I set out to try my new found set of tools I just had been taught. I was lucky in the fact that she was “green broke”, and she remembered me. I worked with her all day and by the days end, I could ride her. It was an amazing feeling. I wanted to buy her back but my parents had already bought a Tennessee walking horse for me. I ready enjoyed the riding camp and learned so much, but it just wasn’t my jam. They ended up selling the horse and I was able to buy another Quarter Horse. My parents had a neighbor who had a beautiful black stallion. He was huge. One day I heard a bunch of commotion outside and saw this gut trying to ride him and getting bucked off. I watched for a few minutes and asked him if I could try working with him. The horse was tamed but the guy just had no idea what he was doing. He was amazed I could ride him. I took him out for a really long ride. I brought him back and I simply explained that you can’t man handle him. It then that I learned the guy had never had a horse before and he was so scared of the horse and the horse was feeding off of his fear. He had way more horse than he should had. I worked with him and his horse and for a few months and taught the guy how to ride. It was so amazing to work with him and his amazing horse.

    This came on as a 70 minute ad while I was in the shower. Guys, as a fellow Christian please take me seriously when I say that one thing that people hate more than feeling like somebody is pushing their religion on them is excessively long ads on UA-cam. No, not entirely true. This horse has been kept for several years and was stuck in the system....this world.... The history is hinted at by how many painful brands this horse has, from the multiple previous owners imposing their dominion on it. God, the Father, is here to free us from these worldly limits, and show us His love and a new path.

      @your average review I understand what your saying but if @the red Dalek didn't cover it for you heres the equestrian anwser...... in what you were saying you were talking about a mustang in this video they did not use a mustang unless it was caught bye the US forest service and had been micro chipped and not branded bye the BLM (buro of land manegment) wich would be located in white on the left side of the horses neck but still I highly doubt that cause they would had to get behind a lot of rules for owning a mustang to make this video if that were case. So in this video they were using a horse thats not started ( trained )...... that means that the horse was never wild and was born in captivity.

    • @lumini3172
      @lumini3172 5 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, the logic is really quite idiotic. A horse desires nothing more than to be with a herd in a large enough space to run and play and to _be a horse._ They have no natural desire to be ridden or to have some “greater purpose”. They want to be horses. If they have enough space, other horses to be with, food, and water, they are perfectly happy “stuck behind fences.”
      Out of all the analogies I’ve heard from Christians, forcing a twisted concept of Stockholm syndrome onto a horse has to be one of the most ridiculous ones.
      Also, this horse was not trained. He was still trying to step away from the guy at the end of the video. He learned absolutely nothing and this is a very pathetic excuse for horsemanship.

  • @WriteSign
    @WriteSign 7 місяців тому +1

    ...That's so cool.
    "wild"? He's branded all over and not freaking out at all. The light, the people, the music, the speakers, but he hasn't tried to break through/over the pen nor kill you when he can't get away. He's untrained, scared, sure, but not at all wild. These videos need to leave out the "wild" clickbait.
    Interesting rope. Black and white stripes like a sea snake... I wonder. If he were wild, though, he'd have killed you when you tried to get on him, just as if you were a puma come to eat him. What he really learned is he must submit to you, but you wont hurt him to get him too... it will be ok. Others obviously have.
    BUT! that is a beautiful metaphor and I love how horses teach us of God, training horses (training trainers) teaches us to bridle our passions... and fears. I understand what you mean. People have tried to tell me I am wrong and bad because I don't do what they want me to. I've never been part of the "in" crowd. God is the only one I try to believe though. He and only He knows me completely and can tell me what is right. I think you'd like Nirvana Mustang Sanctuary & Kind Horse Training. I think training with that method helps train the trainer to really ask, not force, not push, not make, and, yes, not hurt another into doing what you want. I've been branded too, burned by those I thought might hurt me and those who I thought should care for me. God is not aggressive, He is not pushy, He lets us come to him, He doesn't burn us, and our own hearts burn within us when we feel His love. God is trying to establish a connection with me, I think we should do so with our horses too. As ever, we are all still learning, and learning isn't linear so don't worry about getting thrown off when you make a mistake. It's going to hurt, but you can get back up and find the connection again.

    Todd, your bridle was WAY to big for him & that 1st incidence was caused by the enormous bridal, too large a bit & wasn't adjusted properly, the bit was falling out of his mouth & the too large a bit was sitting in his teeth, not the bit seat. So, any time you would like to know how to PROPERLY bridle any horse, HOLLER, that's the first time seeing you make such a grievance error, you ARE THE BEST. I wouldn't get on a horse with a bridle the way you adjusted it, I broke 50 thoroughbred yearling every year for 40 years & you are the ONLY person I ever saw who breaks them just like I do, 1 ride & they are broke, I did have the help of the best ground man EVER. very Gentle, Loving, Kind, with every horse, then one horse goes just like the other, IF their bit isn't flailing around in their mouth. SAWRY because you are great, please don't make that mistake again, dangerous for you & for him. adjust the bridle properly or don't use it, rig the rope up properly, but that bit hurt his mouth, he did nothing wrong, you did cowboy.

      Yeah, this was never truly “wild” to begin with. Unhandled and untrained, yes, but not wild.
      The horse also did not learn anything by the end of the video. He was still jumpy and stepping away from the man and also reacting negatively to the tack. My mom made our family watch this video and I think I was the only one inwardly cringing nearly the whole time lol
      The man set the horse up for failure and was not listening to the horse when he was showing signs of discomfort and fear. If this is an analogy for how god is with his people then the guy’s basically saying, “Hey, god will push you into trials you are not ready for. He will set you up for failure and call it love. He will not listen to your pleas. He will rush through the important parts of your relationship.”

      He DID say this should not be done in this short of a time, that it's much too fast. But the point of the demonstration was clear. It was to demonstrate a point of God's love for his creationn. And he earned trust from this horse, no thing close to abuse happened. Of course he wasn't completely trained, that will take months, even years, he was started with compassion and to make a point.

      Trust? Yeah, no. As a horse trainer I can confidently state that there was no trust earned in this video. Any trust he might have earned was destroyed every time he pushed the horse to do something he was not ready for.
      For example - 50:27 If the horse trusted him, why did he flinch and continually back away from the man until he had to quickly grab the rein?
      55:54 Also shows the horse bolting away from the man.
      1:05:16 The horse is backing away from him.
      1:05:43 Here, too.
      If you want to preach about god’s love then go ahead, but leave actual animals out of your sermons-especially if you’re trying to preach about god’s love and wisdom while being stupid around an animal. This was incredibly stressful for this horse and if they know that it’s too fast then they should not do it. If they want to show god’s love for his creation then surely they should demonstrate it by showing respect to said creation rather than scaring an animal for an hour.
      If you would like more evidence on how this was stupid and cruel then feel free to ask.

      Wow. So glad you are an expert. Todd has done this for years and he is leaning on the Holy Spirit to work with these horses. Maybe that's beyond your understanding.

    That poor horse. It looked under fed, and stressed out. There's lights, music, and lots of people. That's not ok

      You don’t know the background on the horse or anything, he clearly said the horse had been through past things, if you aren’t here to hear the message of God, why comment? He clearly cares about that horse, you can tell in the body language between him and the horse.

    This message is WRONG. That horse had no other choice but to submit. If it kept up a fight, it could have knocked over those fences, with you on it, and it would be restrained, and even put down if necessary if it kept up. Not to mention, this circus show is a complete waste of time, resources, and money that could be spent actually directly helping people in need. What a joke.

      I feel you! I get what they were trying to do and I'm a christian but this horse is NOT wild as soon as the guy raises his arms the horse knew to begin to lunge. The horse seemed to ask to face the man a few times but he kept it running most likely to tire it out. The horse looks underweight and the whole idea of life spent in a pasture grazing being a waste or not a good life is a lie. A good pasture with other horses would give this horses life plenty of purpose. Was it awful or cruelty... No but it was not really good ether... just ear ticketing entertainment and sadly it's what allot of people want when it comes to both faith and horses. God does not force us to submit like that, aren't we glad.

      Have mustang's in my yard daily. We adopted a young wild mustang named him Stealth. My daughter, 12 trained him and rode him proudly in our rural parades all through highschool. Her daily care and love for the little beast that God gave us blessed us all. Serve the Lord in every way, everything.

      I think you are getting caught up in the little details and missing the bigger message being offered. This is not about training a horse to let it have a better life in a pasture. This is a message to humanity. It is a wakeup call to us all. It is a lifeline to salvation. God is trying to reach each an every one of us, to save us from this world and our pains. If we can calm down and surrender ourselves, God can pour out His love for us and show us a better path, a more fulfilling and peaceful existence, and hope for our future. Oh, and yes, there is a horse in this story.
