DIY high voltage capacitor charger and how it works

WARNING:
High voltage capacitors are dangerous. The larger the HV capacitors, the more dangerous they are. You may build the circuit at your own risk and please take safety precautions.
This video shows how a high voltage capacitor charger works and the demonstration of my homemade capacitor charger.

The high voltage capacitors can be found in computer power supplies or disposable cameras.
The transformer can be found in power adapters or computer power supplies.

Actually, the output (pin 3) of the 555 IS a "totem pole" push-pull circuit. See the internal diagram of a 555 !

The transformers in Plug in flysappers are many kilovolts and don't require a ballast for usage
