Look, I don't care if it's heavy metal, deathcore, or hard rock - I just want good music. I wasn't mad that The Order of Things was lighter, I just hated the lack of energy and how much of a step down it was from their usual music. While I still prefer The Fall of Ideals or For We Are Many, this has energy, is catchy as hell, and holy shit that solo was something special. If the rest of the album is this good, I'll certainly be satisfied. Especially given how this song would sound right at home in an arena.
Finally, somebody is this comment section knows what he's talkin' about.

I really like this kind of ATR. Their softer stuff still has that same fire burning, it's just a bit easier to take in and gives a different effect than their earlier, heavier stuff. Still somewhat relatable with beautiful emotion thrown in.
I'll still always love this band and watching them play This Darkened Heart back in the field will be moments treasured forever

All that remains was beast mode in earlier albums like the fall of ideas and for we are many but their last few albums have gone more radio rock influences and I rather the heavier sound but they still put out great music atr fan for life !! 🤘🏻

Let's be honest this song is actually pretty sick. No body ever excepts change I bet if a beloved band like ffdp or Other alternative metal bands made this it would be a masterpiece and musicians should only make what they like.
I agree. I love this song, but let me point out one tiny detail that sets a band like ffdp apart from ATR. American Capitalist was an attempt at switching things up. Fans didn't really like the change, openly expressed disappointment. The band listened and pretty much went back to there roots. Where ATR just don't care, Phil even writes about the fans, so theres that...

dude, THANK YOU! I honestly thought I was the only one that heard that! It's like the engineer dragged the first second of the vocal onto the wrong track, and the band didn't notice it. How in the hell do you miss something like that?! The band obviously listens to the song before release... I need some clarification haha.

ATR's new sound is not bad by any means. They are very talented. I love alt./hard rock all the way to deathcore. However, I do not listen to ATR for rock, I listen to them for shredding metalcore. I do not like their new sound for this reason. Not because they are bad now, because they are not, but because they are no longer metalcore. I listen to other bands for this type of sound, but I used to listen to ATR because I knew they would go hard as fuck and Oli's solos would blow my mind. I just wish they stayed with the Fall of Ideals and Overcome sound. They are still a great band, but not for the reasons I used to love them.
people don't understand the meaning behind this song. This song is basically about atheistism and not believe in god's and to live your life the way you want to live it. it's a kick ass song I love it

This sounds like 5FDP not always a bad thing, which makes sense the lead singer did sub for 5FDP recently at some shows. This ain't bad. I'm digging it. Better than anything on the last couple 5FDP albums too. haha.
All That Remains is like that guy who's girlfriend tried to change him into someone more normal, but in the she realizes she's changed him in to a cookie cutter kind of guy.

So many people in the comment section acting like real All That Remains fans it's borderline pathetic. These are the same people who started bashing ATR after Overcome. An actual fan stands by thier band despite having a few hit or miss albums. I called this on Facebook when the first two songs they released were on their page. All the people who abandoned ATR heard they went pretty damn heavy again, came put of the woodwork to say what a fan they are lolololol. It's almost like me being the purest form of a metalhead and true fan saw the oncoming of fake ass metalheads and "fans" hahaha.

I'm still a fan of them, but their talent and direction have gone downhill, what you just said is irrelevant. Music is preference, I stand by many bands that have songs I dislike, and I can safely admit they have music that doesn't meet my standards. That should be everyone's opinion, not yours. There are 3 bands that haven't released something I don't enjoy. Affiance, Wage War, Within The Ruins. Those 3 have had surprising transition and growth, for me.

Whoa... that's really strange. My guess is that they were probably playing back the music and recording some automation (moving the faders around to control volume), and whoever was mixing it realized that the vocals were way too loud at that part, so he immediately brought the fader down. He then probably thought "Oh, well, I'll just go back in the track and drag the automation to before the vocal starts so that it starts off quiet." and never did.
It's clearly the work of someone who was changing volumes while listening back to the track and recording the volume changes.

Still a big fan of ATR but I'm not feeling the lyrical quality on this one. It's a bit repetitive and.... I guess a bit too simple? The opening few lines were strong but like... it really doesn't rhyme if you use the same word twice. The number of times the word 'way' shows up in specific reference to 'a way to life my life' is too many times. I do like the way the instrumental side of things are going though.
So, are you guys going for a more Nu Metal style now or something? Not that I completely dislike that idea, as I'm a big Nu Metal fan. But, your old 1st wave Metalcore sound was THE SHIT and I kinda miss it.
