I agree about doing the angry car park attendant version of “Blind Eyed”, as it is humorous, but I would recommend (for a first time listen to the song) doing the MC sessions version first, so that you get to hear the song as it’s meant to be, then follow that with the angry car park version.
I cannot agree with this sentiment more!! The MC sessions live is a proper version , with true artistic mastery and genuinely displaying what fantastic talents these guys have. The live version in a car park getting moved on and still singing is fun, but it's not the way to really appreciate the artistry of this song and though I chuckled the first couple of times I'd go back to it, I will never go back to that version to listen to it.
You need to see Sam’s “See Me”. Watch the one on his channel that has the most views; the thumbnail has sam reflected in three mirrors. That song just makes me cry.
I’m loving it! So not going to stop any time soon. I may start doing some other relevant artists as well and when I do just have 2 videos drop that day. That’s my current plan, we will see how it goes!
Yes! The mashups have been great! Ren is so versatile! I can’t say the same for Sam yet (only one song) but he sure is talented and can certainly sing a duet!
Blind Eyes with Angry Carpark Attendant is funny and shows that Ren doesn't allow anything to stop him. Thank you for your reaction to this video. You were very informative and I thoroughly enjoyed your take.
Very good! Thank you for clarifying that for me. It looks like a great spot! It reminds me of a spot in Denver, Colorado that always has street performances going on. I’ve seen some amazing talent there in the past. Thanks again!
Wait until you get to Loco. Acapella with Ren beatboxing. He busts it out occasionally. His first forays into music were beatboxing. If you listen to his rapping, you can feel the beatbox in the flow. He raps in high hats, kickdrums and snares. I think he talked about this in the Rosalie interview. I love the Sam and Ren origin story. Their Stevie Wonder set is fantastic as well. Blindeyed is my favorite. Angry Car Park is a MUST. Studio first is fine as well. Angry Car Park is acoustic in a, well, car park.😂😂
Thank you for all the additional detail curious to maybe do a little more of his rap in the near future. I'm actually going to go right into Blind Eyed next! I'm not sure what the Rosalie interview is - but good to know! I'll note Loco for the beatboxing! Thanks again for the continued support!
@@Coping_Skillz Apologies, it was actually The Charismatic Voice where he spoke about beatboxing and technique (around 1:05:00) [ua-cam.com/video/2d4sH8pvNfE/v-deo.html] where he likens his rapping to beatboxing. there were so many amazing interviews with smaller and unique creators last year they merge together. @@Coping_Skillz 💯…indeed! 🔥This is a video we hadn’t seen before. Sam and Ren are incredible together. Thanks for finding a great clip to share. Blind Eyed is wonderful. Just when you think you have heard Ren sing, he opens up and blows you off your feet, flips you upside down and spins you on your head. It’s like being in a sonic tsunami. Ren told a vocal coach in an interview that when he was young he used to blow his voice out busking on a weekend. He said he’d need a few days afterwards to recover. He found a vocal coach when he was able to afford one and learned how to properly use and protect his voice. Talented young men having a great time with the crowd. Did you know that Ren was terribly introverted and shy when he started playing on the streets in front of people? He said he quickly realized if he wanted to make money busking, he had to engage his audience. He never fails to step up to reach his dreams. Ren is a great example of forged by fire. 😁
Well said! I'm glad he was able to find a voice coach to learn how to protect that valuable instrument! And yes, great example of overcoming adversity!
Sam himself has a deep and great catalogue of work. He is currently signed to universal and released his first album in the last couple of months. Sam also struggles with MH issues and doesn't hold back from singing about his troubles, with very few of his songs not having a MH element. He wrote a song called 'Hero' about mid life men facing depression and contemplating taking their life - its a beautiful song and fantastic video. He was trying to celebrate his father struggling against this impulse and beating it. Unfortunately in November last year, his father finally took his own life, one week before Sam had one of his biggest ever London gigs (at the Apollo I believe). Watching Sam sing 'Hero' for his dad on that stage, is one of the bravest and most soul wrenching moments I've ever seen captured and turns me into a crying mess every time I see it. I would highly recommend you watching the original, and then the live version at the Apolo if you can bring yourself to face more 'heavy' emotional music. This is music with substance.
Thank you for the information! That added depth of understanding where he is coming from means a lot. I’ll note the suggestion and to be well prepared beforehand. I’m gutted for him. I can only imagine what he went through on that stage. Thanks again!
So Good. 😊 This one will not be so emotional - other than smiles and wonder at these boys' talent. Just got Sams cd yesterday 😊 You can see their transportation wheelbarrow for the equipment behind them, lol. If i saw these two wheeling that down the street I would close my shop and follow! Just saw you stream Dayz, so will pop in when i can, too. Love the Running in the forest simulator, lmao.
lol yes! DayZ is "mostly" a running simulator... In between extreme bouts of adrenaline. Certainly, impressive talent from the both of them! They feed off each other's energy so well! Thank you for the continued support!
Yes, exactly - definitely not an insult, was just trying to say he has the talent to blend well in a group. Thanks for the additional detail! I didn't know he got to open for Beiber. Good for him!!
I said before how they met, so not much to add. Kinda ironic side-note, though - I only started obsessing over Ren a few months ago but I'm preeettttty sure this video was my first exposure back when it went viral back in the day. It was the age of Me Too and there was backlash in that space to Ren singing Man's World. I remember seeing it posted and thinking he was pretty good, though 😅 He keeps getting himself attacked by activists through the years... this one, singing Troubles... just a few weeks ago for a photoshoot picture where he was "manspreading". He takes it like a champ, though, if with frustration. He used that photo for freaking everything he posted for the next week 🤣
Can’t let them silence you! That’s for sure. I think Ren is more about “counter-culture” and unfortunately today… a big part of the internet culture is “cancel culture” which is the opposite of what the older counter-culture movement was all about. Giving a voice to more people, not boycotting/silencing those that have an opinion that doesn’t align with your own. Seems such a silly thing to be upset about… Someone singing a song.
@@Coping_SkillzIt's true. I think it was the interview with Mind where they asked him two words he wanted associated with himself and he said storyteller and counterculture. Dunno if I've said this one before, but elsewhere he said that he was wondering why there was no counterculture movement in these times when it was so desperately needed and eventually came to the conclusion that if he couldn't find it, he had to be it. But you're exactly right - to him, in a world that is, itself, divisive and angry the counterculture is coming together. He basically told the manspreader people he had way more important concerns... the people who came for him over "appropriating" Troubles he explained his position to and left it at that. I'm not sure about Man's World, I didn't pay that much attention to it and it was one of his first viral videos so I doubt he'd found his public perspective eloquently yet. I'm pretty far left and I went through that phase, but the offshoots of Me Too... I lost patience with the righteous anger over absolutely everything pretty quickly. You just couldn't keep up. I think the movements are necessary, but once they get into Soccer Mom mainstream (and, hey, that's more or less my demographic, sadly) the real messages get warped by the game of telephone with all the messengers trying to parrot what they only half-heard and barely understood, themselves. I've found myself very ready for Ren's message of letting the small stuff go.
Brighton is an amazing town, on the south coast... My daughter has lived there since she was 18 when she went to uni there.... After graduating she stayed... Brighton is the place to be, it's a nightmare to drive around though!
Those seaside towns can be a real pain to drive through. I can imagine. The closer you get to the water… the pace of life slows down a bit… but so does the traffic! lol
Why on earth would you think it's a positive to be 'good enough to be in a boy band ' ? Surely not the goal for a successful and talented singer ? Interesting reaction
Well, many boy-band singers are incredibly talented. They typically have a member who can hit really high notes like Sam was able to display. Most Boy-Bands that make a name for themselves have at least one artist who is talented enough and driven enough to have a solo career as well. Which is why I mentioned Justin Timberlake - who got his start as a member of NSYNC. I'm saying he has the talent to do that (which is not an insult as those artists have to be able to harmonize very well) - but I mentioned Timberlake as I wouldn't be surprised if Sam was able to have a thriving solo career. Wasn't meant at all to be insulting - I just know there is this weird stigma - that boy-band members aren't talented... which is a fallacy. Thank you for commenting and offering me your perspective! I always like hearing others' opinions!
@@Coping_Skillz it's just a strange remark because Sam is a songwriter/singer who has toured U.K. Europe and the States and his recent album reached no 8 in the U.K charts. It surely would be a retrograde step to join a boy band with all the 'big label control ' we know they endure. I agree that often one or two 'escape' and have successful solo careers but Sam is well on his way solo from the start. You might enjoy his videos.
Thank you for the info! I didn't know he was as successful as he is. I hadn't heard of him, so finding out all the detail makes sense why it would be a confusing remark.
