Great review! Might have to buy one. Been looking for a good "assault pack", and this thing is so modular. Love the tiger stripe cammo. Looks almost like a hunting pack vs screaming "military" which is good for me being just a civilian if im trying to blend in with non mil.
Was wondering how/if it could direct-attach to the DZ rig, thanks for the in-depth overview. Probably the most feature-packed and overbuilt assault pack on the market... And it's not annoying or time consuming to reconfigure, less than five minutes to set up as either a standalone, or integrate into the DZ yoke. Crossfire really needs to expand on all the features of this thing on their website, especially the bit on how it integrates into the DZ rig, that's a huge bonus to have a pack integrate without adding layers over your shoulder pocket.
Impressive pack and great review thanks Tom. I think I will stick with my old Berghaus Munro ( suits and old geezer like me better)thanks again for sharing this.
Morning Tom, Ive been looking forward to seeing this, great indepth review. I was trying to decide for a few months if i wanted the crossfire or the platatac echo mk3 ( small one ). I went for the platatac in the end. Im not convinced on the LTAS. Im all for innovation and mollie does add up on weight. However mollie looks more secure. It looks a bit long and i wonder if it would top flap ok in issued bergans. Thanks again mate
I think the LTAS system is pretty good TBH, it wouldn’t work for pouches on a belt but it works great for packs. It’s not too long for use with belt kit, it fits great. Ref top flapping, yep no problem, as long as the helmet isn’t in the beavertail. Would be too wide with that in too.
Only recently heard of Crossfire packs, on the face of it they look good……also have lots of little touches that remind me of circa 2005 Kifaru military line. Kifaru used to have zero padding in their Omni waist belt, with the idea being that it better conformed to the contours of your hips and spread the load better over a wider surface area…..wondering if that’s also a part of the ethos of the thinner shoulder straps here. I’ve had experience with Kifaru (as mentioned), Mystery Ranch and similar. If you’ve got any experience of those brands, how would you rate Crossfire against them, in terms of construction?
I'd say that Crossfire is better for both load carriage comfort and also from a practical sense for use in tactical/military applications, and it's generally cheaper than Kifaru and Mystery Ranch (crazy prices!). It really is bombproof, awesome gear.
@@PreparedPathfinder Cheers, fella 👍 Defintely crazy these days……my 3DAP is from 2011, back when you could order direct and my Kifaru stuff (now gone save for one) was always bought when they had end of line sales. I could pay someone to carry my gear instead of buy at the current prices 😉
It's a Frogskin poncho liner from Zero Foxtrot. Interesting to note that you thought it was AUSCAM, as that pattern was developed from the USMC WW2 Frogskin camo pattern.
Hes foreign. And so are you to him... Thats how they measure shit everywhere else. Yea its annoying to us americans lol but I wouldn't expect them to convert it for us. Do that your self. He did a excellent job showing the size of all this pack anyway, don't need exact measurements...

Great gear review, Tom. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers mate 👍

Is that an AUSCAM poncho liner you're on?

Could you please stop reviewing these packs? It's getting a bit expensive.
😂
I don't need one, but you lost me with metric. Feet and inches mucker and miles we're not foreign.
No we’re not but that’s what’s used in the UK, weirdly. I’m sure you could work it out.

Roughly 3-5 gallons……because that’s a better metric 🤷♂️🤣
