I have a suggestions. @6:16 you should not be letting a player get away with a small bet here. The smaller he bets, the more you should be raising. Hes value/block betting a hand like Jack's or a 9 here. In a lot of cases, letting the player bet small just let's him realize his equity. A prime example is exactly what happened in this hand. Just crazy, I feel like you are going to get owned by any good players if you do that (unless you are slow playing a monster) well done for exploiting; your cautious play really helps with your image in those exploitative spots.
Never feel bad for a poker player especially an action player. If someone sits down at a poker table with money in play, they are willing to lose or win it. It’s fair game. Typically action players tend to have more money anyway.
He appeared to be a blue collar type of worker, he probably blew a weeks worth of pay in a few hours. He is a grown man, his choice to play, but I see a rocky road in his future.
He was very fearful all day, so my raise looked like a set. He always saw the worst possibilities on every board. Normal player will get it in all the time.
I get what you’re saying about being surprised he folded the aces. But how often are you really raising something there that Aces can beat. Are you raising AJ? I doubt it. So I can see why he folded if you have a nitty-ish image. I don’t know how you find all these live towels. I’ve played probably 3000 to 5000 live hours and never picked up a tell. I must be doing something wrong. Help me Doug. #1 fan
About 15 years ago, I decided to invest all my attention in finding tells. At the time I was playing 40-80 limit Holdem. Limit Holdem is more mechanical to play, so all my attention went to reads. I was frustrated at first, but then I started picking up stuff. The player with AA would lower his head slightly when he was giving up or scared. He would raise his posture and head when he wanted to continue. It helps to be in a good seat to view this behavior. I happen to have the perfect angle.
@@dacgours55 just focus on one player, really focus, watch his eyes, posture, breathing, how he bets, how he holds his cards. Then if he does something different find out why. It’s work, but once you get in the habit of doing it, it gets easier to find stuff
"I think my image was strong at the table"... on that hand where he folded aces, it was more like you had an ex-convict behind you with a shotgun encouraging them to fold LOL. Some people might tell you not to feel bad about taking the weak player's money... I say at 1-3, you shouldn't feel bad. I play higher stakes (2-5 & 5-10), and sometimes have found myself feeling bad when I see a guy who is playing at a level he shouldn't be.
Someday I hope to feel sorry for a 5-10 player when I take his money, working my way towards bigger games. Really appreciate all the great feedback I received from players like yourself. Has improved my game quite a bit already.
It's everyone's own decision to play at a table. There is nothing wrong with playing the most profitable you can. And if it's by pushing out weak players so be it
The person with AA was totally scared of any heavy action that came his way. My table image was good and we were deep enough to make it potentially painful. There wasn’t very much bluffing going on, people were mainly betting big with value. Decided to put my read, image, position, and stack size to work. If I got called I would have shutdown immediately.
I play in all the same rooms as this guy and let me tell u the players can be so bad so often Sacramento area has some of the best poker around right now
I had have friend who always looks at his cards when I bet and he has a weak hand. If he would call I would increase the pressure and 99% of the time he would fold. No guilt here! 😄
@@dougmccuskerpoker Then again, the table watched you check that down in position so I suppose it contributes to a passive image that you used to take down a big pot you had no business taking down so who am I to open my big mouth haha.
@@WillPage your welcome to share your thoughts, I learn from others expressing their ideas. I appreciate all your comments and think about the message you are sending. Thank you and keep them coming
When he had a hand that he liked, he would raise his head slightly. When he had a weaker holding or thought he was beat, he dipped his head down slightly. I noticed it in 2-3 hands with other players were involved. He seem to do it a lot. Not sure if I would have noticed it, but was at a good angle to see him. I was surprised to see AA on that one hand, when I grab a bunch of chips he must of felt he was beat.
3:20 you’ve only got 28 BB’s A5s should be a fold preflop. And if you do decide to raise it should be bigger. It worked out in the end but you got yourself into a bad situation in a bloated pot with a very marginal hand.
Thank you for the compliment, i try my best to play well everyday. I’m not always successful, but I do try. I enjoy watching Rampage, he has improved a lot from when he started. I would definitely play certain hands differently in spots, but his vlog is entertaining and he has done very well for himself. I’m trying to play more aggressively in spots and watching hyper aggressive vloggers has helped me see things differently. I don’t think that I will ever have a following like his, but I am envious of his success.
If he is losing money he cant afford .... Sure sympathy for his family is in order. But poker needs losers so we are not all fighting for each others rolls
I wouldn't say folding aces is that bad. A raise coming from an older man 3 ways displays strength like a set. Not saying you should fold but if I was deep and got raised by an older man I would think about it
In the bluff hand, you said the flat from the straddle was a solid player. But solid players don't cold call 3 bets to 21x the BB from the straddle. And if they somehow did, when flopping top/top on a J 7 4 rainbow board don't flat a 1/7th pot size bet. So with the information given, either he played this way differently with AJ than you've seen in the past or he ain't a solid reg. Play like he did consistently and you'll be broke. Both players played that awfully.
I'll say this... I do enjoy your content. I think when and if you move up in stakes, your thinking and hand reading should change. In this hand you said you would navigate through hoping the action player could get the reg to fold and go up against the action player. That's all well and good thinking. However, what do you think the reg in a higher stakes game is thinking? Or even a solid reg at this stake? They should have been trying to isolate as well. Tough to put an action player on AA, but this was a hand that in higher stakes games would have gone very badly. I like your content and you seem like a good guy. One I'd enjoy sitting next to and enjoying a night at the table with and wish you success.
With the $10 straddle it plays like a 5-10 this hand. So his flat wasn’t as bad given the straddle. He probably wanted to get involved with the action player. Earlier he got his AA beat by KK for his stack, so I think he was in a gambling mood. I would raise in his spot on the flop, if you’re flopping top top after calling preflop, I’m playing fast. His flat on the flop allowed me to cap his range at one pair. With this information and the tendency of the initial better to overfold to aggression, I decided to go for it. It happened to work. I agree the action player played it awfully, and the strong player should have raised on the flop. I’m learning to capitalize on other’s mistakes, I saw this as an opportunity. Thanks for the great feedback, you made some excellent points.
Doug, in a higher stake game or against a certifiably solid reg.... I would have been scared of the flat on the flop. J 7 4 rainbow is more likely to be flatted by a set or something that doesn't need protection or more information than one pair. Especially when combined with a cold call of $63 (essentially a minclick on your $30 raise) preflop which will include a lot of set mines. The flat on the flop in most scenarios would have reeked of danger. I'm glad for you that in this particular scenario that wasn't the case.
@@caymanchronicles4753 I was concerned of him flopping a set, I just felt it was much more likely it was a one pair hand, if I got called I was giving up. I really enjoy and appreciate your comments. What evidence do you have that management facilitated cheating? It was one rogue employee who conspired with Postle...management and owners were as blindesided as everyone one of us. At the end of the day that poker room is still the best one in the Sac area. 1/3NL match table stack, can't find that type of game even in the bay area. Hmmmm, let's compare Stones to Thunder. Stones has better rake structure. They only take $2 rake if the pot is under $8. Thunder shaves off $5 off the top no matter how much in the pot. Stones is 8-handed vs Thunder 7-handed. You want a drink or food, you get a server right away at Stones. At Thunder you have to wait for a server to come into the poker room and god know how long sometimes that take. Stones is managed 1000% better than the other 2 poker rooms in the Sac area in terms of service, game selections, rake, etc.
@@JP-fe9ws you make an excellent case to why people enjoy playing at Stones. It does have a lot to offer. People unfamiliar with the casino only know of Stones from the news stories. Thank you for your response, it is important for people realize the past is the past and Stones is providing the best gaming experience they can.
Hope you realize now that bluff with A10 was really bad. You flopped too little equity to make that bluff. What are you even representing by raising there? On top of that, you didn’t even make a pot sized raise. Any good player is calling you there after you capped your range by just calling the 3 bet.
My hand had less than 4% equity, I didn’t play it for that reason. My image was strong and I decided to make a play. I feel my raise while small, looked like a value size raise. The caller could have a set there, my read on the action player was that he didn’t want to call a raise period. So I sized my raise smaller to get 1 pair hands to fold without committing a large portion of my stack. If I get called I shut down, but I felt my image and stack size would get more folds than mathematically correct. I never thought the he would fold AA, but he was over folding to pressure. The caller was a concern, if he had a one pair hand I thought he would fold. I would play QQ, JJ, 77,44, and some occasional AJ in this manner for value and denial. I don’t often make these types of plays, but they seem to work well with my OMC image. Thanks for your feedback, I do appreciate your thoughts.
@@dougmccuskerpoker I don't mean to be too critical. I have made this exact same play in the past way too many times. You really want to be bluffing with equity to the nuts on the flop. The time to bluff with no equity is on the river. If you ever move up in stakes or just happen to be at a better table this move will get crushed. Maybe a difference for you vs me is I would compound the flop mistake on the turn if I got called on the flop. These compounding mistakes make an enormous difference in win rate over time. Enjoy your vlogs!
@@markjaeggli5715 I take no offense to any of your comments, they are welcome and well thought out. I don’t have all the answers, still learning how to navigate situations like this. My intention was to capitalize on my opponents mistakes, other games and other players I would not have tried. I understand bluffing with black door equity and have done so many times. My feeling was that this play was strictly done with image, position, and stack size. If I had 40% equity and it worked, I gain 60% equity. Having only 4% equity and it works, I gain 96% equity. Granted when caught it hurts, I felt the chances of being caught were low enough to make the play. Thanks again for your thoughts, they are always welcome.

Just crazy, I feel like you are going to get owned by any good players if you do that (unless you are slow playing a monster) well done for exploiting; your cautious play really helps with your image in those exploitative spots.
Your new graphics are nice
Thanks, I’ve been learning on the go, those earlier graphics were not so good. Thanks for watching.
Great content sir! Cheers from Texas.
Thanks Manuel, happy you are enjoying it.
Definitely an unusual session and how some of the players where playing, but it made it profitable for you, which is what counts in the end.
Thanks for watching
Never feel bad for a poker player especially an action player. If someone sits down at a poker table with money in play, they are willing to lose or win it. It’s fair game. Typically action players tend to have more money anyway.
He appeared to be a blue collar type of worker, he probably blew a weeks worth of pay in a few hours. He is a grown man, his choice to play, but I see a rocky road in his future.
What a weird hand! Glad the bluff got through, but who folds Aces on that board
He was very fearful all day, so my raise looked like a set. He always saw the worst possibilities on every board. Normal player will get it in all the time.
i wish you would tell us your tells. it would really help new live players like myself. thanks great vlog.
I share some of my tells when I travel, if they are a regular at my local casino, I don't.
Nice content
Thanks Bart, I appreciate having you as a viewer.
@@dougmccuskerpoker That’s interesting, thanks. Something I can work on.
@@dacgours55 just focus on one player, really focus, watch his eyes, posture, breathing, how he bets, how he holds his cards. Then if he does something different find out why. It’s work, but once you get in the habit of doing it, it gets easier to find stuff
Pick the most active player
And if it's by pushing out weak players so be it
Folded pocket As?? And the other folded high pair high kicker? What the hell there wasn’t even any connectors or flush draws
Excellent play. Not perfect, but great.
Thank you Charles, your guidance has definitely helped. Still making some errors, but getting better.
I play in all the same rooms as this guy and let me tell u the players can be so bad so often Sacramento area has some of the best poker around right now
Is stones back open ?
Yes they are, still in a tent and required to close at 10 pm for pandemic reasons.
I had have friend who always looks at his cards when I bet and he has a weak hand. If he would call I would increase the pressure and 99% of the time he would fold. No guilt here! 😄
Is he still your friend? Lol. Hopefully yes. Thanks for watching and for sharing your tell story.
@@dougmccuskerpoker Still friends, what he doesn't know won't hurt him. 😉
As5s once checked to twice I am betting 1/4 pot for thin value. Don't mind the check but you might get called by A high.
Thin value is an art form, I’m at the color by numbers stage. Lol. I think a small bet there could be good
@@dougmccuskerpoker Then again, the table watched you check that down in position so I suppose it contributes to a passive image that you used to take down a big pot you had no business taking down so who am I to open my big mouth haha.

So what was the tell??
I seem to get into trouble quite a bit, you make a good point. Better to have that in my range with deeper stacks. Thanks for the feedback.
Now this is good poker! not like that rampage dude
@ Mark Pretty weak to put Rampage down, are you a man or little boy ?

Never feel bad for bad players 😆
Can I feel bad for his family if he has one?
If he is losing money he cant afford .... Sure sympathy for his family is in order. But poker needs losers so we are not all fighting for each others rolls
That is true, good point.
Way to be!
Have you seen Justin Kuraitis (jfk) lately? He deleted all his UA-cam channel videos.
Or made them private...
Haven’t seen him, I don’t play at Stones very much.
I wouldn't say folding aces is that bad. A raise coming from an older man 3 ways displays strength like a set. Not saying you should fold but if I was deep and got raised by an older man I would think about it
That was what I was going for, using my image and stack to make a play.
U should told the guy to go home !! There no way there aa folding the flat !! He is the wrong table !! People like that just stay home they don’t want to gamble
It’s hard to parent someone you don’t know, but he was definitely at a severe disadvantage playing in that game.

Don't know that I would play at a place that facilitates cheating.
I know many that feel the way you do. I respect that decision.
Your not aggressive at all...you only bet when you have it...you play like this against me I'll take all your money.Your just playing against terrible players that have no clue what their ranges are and their bluffs and value hands lol.
I’m still learning how to play well, I know I have areas that need improving. I’m not ready to play against players like yourself yet, but I am studying and working my way towards being a better player. Your guidance is welcomed.
