After your review I got this plane. LOVE it! Couple things I had to figure out on my own real fast. If your using external fuel tanks, you select them with the knob to the left of your anti-skid switch. Once empty, the plane will use its internal fuel. *Then* there's the speed brake! It's that sliding switch on top of the throttle!
I noticed that on take off you never brought the airplane to a dead stop after you turned onto the runway. That's not how it was done. The actual practice in the F-100 was to taxi into position on the runway and stop. After that you lock the brakes and you sit still while running the engine up to full military power for about 20 seconds while you check the engine instruments. If the engine seems to be running okay then you release the brakes. The airplane is then allowed to accelerate up to about 50 knots and then you light the burner while its already moving. When the burner lights you feel a sharp thump and it pushes you back in the seat. Then later when you come out of burner you get momentarily thrown forward into straps.
The yak-52 is a serious A/C similar to the T-28 we flew in the AF to transition to jets. I loved that machine. At higher airspeeds it has similar flight characteristics. The adverse yaw characteristic of the F-100 is not like conventional yaw. It is the result of the 45 swept wing and large ailerons. With a working yaw damper the F-100 would do a nice roll with rudder alone. At high AoA and high G the ailerons would actually cause a reverse rolling moment. In a turning dogfight most used the rudder and kept the ailerons neutral otherwise you would depart the envelope quickly,
At 14:20, the flash in front of the nose is a compressor stall. I believe unburnt fuel is blown out the front and then ignites. The effect is very cool from external view :)
Nice video, thanks for your effort on making it and sharing it with the community..... although in 5:42 it´s kind of ironic you mentioned the sound package is "really really nice" and at the same time I cannot hear any difference in the engine sound between opened and closed canopy
Is there only a bare metal version available? I don't see any camouflage version just thinking of the jet being on duty in NAM . With MSFS 2020 being on the market I don't get it why they still sell this for over 50 bucks being over 5 years old. Thanks for the video, getting it along the community.
Boy, I ignore Milviz for a couple of weeks and BAM! The Hun is out!! What do they have for texture sets and nationalities? Hoping for a lot of shiny metal and bright colors! (Specifically Triple Zilch!) Expensive, but I'll be getting mine next week! Have the F-86 and F-4 and love both of those, so I'll pay!
Nice review for a gorgeous plane! I didn't see any in landing lights when you were coming in… Is that just a video? OCS?...good luck! ...how is that working out? Thanks, Chas
David for some reason I can't find the switch to get the red and white barber pole on the front of the aircraft to go into the extended position, it is always vertical after the aircraft loads on FSX Steam, please help me figure this out, much appreciated.
Pretty obvious that you haven't flow a real fighter. but neither have most of the simmers so no big deal. The F-100 would have killed you without mercy if you had stalled (spun) at that altitude. I can assure you that it ain't a 172. The graphics are terrific and flight model reasonable I look forward to trying it out for auld lang syne. It's been over 50 years. Thanks for you trouble and a nice review.
David Womacks I'd love that. But I guess they would need to implement every switch and every mechanical process going on. I think alot of companies won't get into it unfortunatly. EDIT: I don't know the level of detail used in p3d. Is it comparable with DCS? It looks like a very simple startup in the video, but I've never gotten into it.
Awesome!!! Sorry to sound like a "Johnny come lately" but I am a complete novice.....where do you get these sims and what software do you need on your computer to fly them?
I use prepar3d,which can be found at prepar3d.com , a great resource for learning about flight sim is avsim.com join the forum there and ask as many questions as you need you will find the flight sim community is very welcoming
You dare say groundbreaking? In 20 years of simming?Don't get me wrong. I like the effort you put into this review, though you could have been more critical at times. The F100 is a fine module for FSX/P3D. The visuals are stunning. But you must have just skimmed the realm of flight Sims if it tops your list of best packages put together. Aside from several inaccuracies concerning systems and flight model, it only comes with 13 pages of milviz material and yes, the flight manual to which it should be held accountable the moment milviz puts it into the product. In flight engine restart for instance is possible within a much greater envelope than the manual describes. While the flight model is overall pretty decent, it has it's faults in the transsonic region. Deceleration from Mach1 for instance. Grab any module in the DCS roster and you'll have an equal, if not higher fidelity in every aspect. Any module from Belsimtek would do :)They've been around since 2014ish
Yes an equal at twice the cost and only at the same cost for 3 times a year on one of their sales where their prices come down from manufactured insanity. Don't forget that the plane will also be non-functional for the next 1.5 to 2 years unless it's HB doing it.
"A pilot lives in a world of perfection, or not at all." ~ Richard S. Drury. Good work. Perfectly enjoyable. Thanks!

You forgot the part about counting the rivets on the wings just before break release.
@@koc988 No you don't do that. I know the actual procedure because I've flow in an F-100 twice. And I flew in two real ones, not a flight simulator.

adverse yaw characteristic of the F-100 lead into whats known as the Saber Dance
Never in my years as a 100 crew chief have I ever seen ground safety locks on the speedbrake, never.

We need this in DCS - and a Jungle Map.
Great Review! Thanks

Great video thank you for sharing it.
Eyebrow lighting missing for instrument panel missing

supermax7200 - 1,200 hrs in the F-100
Once again an awesome video buddy! Do you plan on showcasing the new Alabeo Piper Aztec?
Thank you and yes I do plan on doing a review of it
+AllThingsFlightSim Awesome sounds good, looking forward to it!
Nice review for a gorgeous plane!
I didn't see any in landing lights when you were coming in… Is that just a video?
OCS?...good luck!
...how is that working out?
Thanks,
Chas
What! No saddleback hydraulic check after start up to insure 1&2 flight control sys has req'd 5606-H
Is this just P3D without any add-ons? It looks really pretty.
It's at Orbx KJAC,I'm also using Rex
Yeah its beautiful scenery
yep salute its a nice video and yep i did bought this one

James,I'd love to help you but it's been several years since I've flown the F-100. I'd reach out to Milviz support

saberjim Never flown a fighter, the closest thing I've flown to one is a Yak-52 which isn't even close to a jet powered fighter haha
you have flown a fighter?
Does this Add-on have a french livery included?
Thanx!
You should try the DCS World Mig-21 :)
I actually have it, I'd love to see Milviz port the F-100 and F-4 to DCS 2.0
Yeah that would be grate...I actually suggested it on theirs YT channel :)
That will never happen. DCS keeps changing their SDK while leaving third party developers in limbo. Do some research.
Nice Video man. You use also P3D. With which tool do you move around the plane?
It's called avatar mode. It's included in p3dv3
Damn, I hoped it was for DCS at first :(
Once yoy go DCS you can never go back
NuclearSunshineSB I agree I think Milviz would have great success if they ported their military planes to DCS.
David Womacks I'd love that. But I guess they would need to implement every switch and every mechanical process going on. I think alot of companies won't get into it unfortunatly.

how hard is this jet to trim??

are guns firing on the fsx multiplayer ?
