I just wanted to say it's so good and refreshing to see you being honest and be like "there's not one way to live college (party all the time), we do it this way". I found at uni, people are very different from each other and embrace it, and I feel social media doesn't represent that at all. You don't live for anybody else, especially not your audience! So thank you and so excited for the fun changes in your life! Also I love love love your college videos, they're so inspiring :)
I found the social side of uni difficult in first year too, I didn't properly settle in and find my closest friends until second year! So it's different for everyone and that's totally okay :) xx
"Megan and Ciera you should really do this and do that hahahaha", people love to tell people how to do everything even if they don't know the circumstances. You do you, love and friendship comes natural and cant be forced, things seem to always fall in place when you least expect it. congrats girls xx.
Hey girls. Coming from someone who tends to be more of an introvert, living off campus is AMAZING. You get to choose when you're at school and when you're home. It's really nice having that separation. You two are doing so well in college. So happy for you both!
The social aspect of college was the hardest part for me too! I’m naturally an introvert so putting myself out there was a major challenge, but I eventually got the hang of it. You guys are lucky because you have a best friend to always hang out with and who is there for you, which is all people are looking for anyway! Don’t let people make you feel like you have to go to parties and have a million friends to get the full college experience. You are incredibly focused on academics and at the end of the day, that’s what college is for! Keep doing what you are doing and the social aspect will just happen!
I go to Iowa State and I agree about the social aspect! I was great friends with my roommate, but didn’t have a good friend group settled until my second year. If you kind of get unlucky with the people on your floor, it’s a lot harder to readily make deeper connections. There are a LOT of acquaintances and fewer deep friends! Great job on your first year :)
My freshman year I once had 3 exams on the same day at 8:00, 9:00, and 11:00. I got the highest score in the class on the first one, but the last one was not very good. I eventually gave up on the social aspects, and focused entirely on my classes. Some kids just refuse to grow up and you are better off avoiding them. They would rather tear someone else down than try to improve themselves and their own grades. Keeping to a small circle of friends is the best. You are better off alone than with people you can't trust. The key point is you can't treat college as more of the same. It is not like high school. You have to have a goal if you are going to be employable when you graduate. Check out the placement office in your sophomore year and junior year to see what skills employers are looking for, so you know what elective classes you need to take..
So this may seem like lame advice but when I was in college, worried about making friends, someone told me to stop trying things I wouldn’t normally do. Just live my life the way I normally would- workout, study, classes, etc. and you will find friends doing the same thing as you. You like working out in the mornings, meet someone who you notice is also there in the mornings. It works!
About the social aspect being though: I have been in University for more than 5 years now (I'm from Hungary, the system is different here) and in the first year I had a boyfriend living 300 km away from me, so I was really focusing on getting good grades and on the weekends going back home to meet my boyfriend. So for the first year I basically had no friends, I would talk to people about classes and studying but nothing else. Then, University became easier in a way that in second year I already knew how I should prepare for my tests, and I already knew who among my classmates made it to second year, who failed, and who has similar interests to me regarding school. And once I knew that, I was able to talk to them about other topics, not just school. So what I would like to say is that you do not have to rush things, you do not have to push yourselves to be friends with tons of people, I think you can take your time and 'inspect' your sorrundings, your classmates (if that makes any sense). That's what I did, and now I have 5 truly good friends, and I'm really happy I waited for them to come to my life. Pro tip :D : I'm not really into fashion or dressing cute or make-up or anything like that, but I did notice that other girls like small compliments like: 'Oh I like your hair today', 'Your necklace is nice, where is it from?' and stuffs like that, it's a good starter for conversation. Sorry, my english is probably not perfect.
Nagy Dalma your comment cheers me up a bit! I did my 1st year in college this year and I'm going to do my 2nd year. And it was really difficult To make friends, like you in your 1st year I just talked To people for classes, I hope it's going to be easier next year! Sorry for my english too I'm french
There are many books about self-development and the psychology behind making friends and stuff, one book is 'How to win friends and influence people' by Dale Carnegie. If you are interested you can read a summary of it or read the whole book (I personally read just the summary and reviews of it), it is also available as an audiobook I believe.
I agree, college is not hard if you put your mind into it and do all the work that’s required to get the grades. I personally have been struggling with that because I was not able to keep up with the work due to other reasons, but it’s not impossible and exams are pretty much about what you’re taught in class. So I definitely agree with you. Some classes, at least in my major, do have weird exams... but it’s not about things that we hadn’t gone over in class. Anyway, congrats and best of luck for your next year too!
I just finished my second semester of college as well. I totally agree with you that studying and taking tests is on the easier side. Honestly, if you put in the time and effort, you will get good grades. One of things I found out to be helpful for the social side of college is to sit next to a person in class. I made a really good friend just by pushing myself the first day to sit next to a person who was in one of my classes the last semester. We really helped each other through the two history classes we were in together. I also agree with you guys that even though I joined a club, it didn't really give me any close friends. The only way I found close friends was with my roommate and sitting next to people in class. The one thing I would disagree with is living on campus. I actually liked living on campus because I can easily get to classes, the library, and the gym. I am going to live on the edge of campus for that reason. However, I am glad I am not going to be living in the dorms. It was a good experience, but almost all of the boys on my floor were idiots. They played fortnite until late at night. The people below us were also really loud at night even though I called the front desk like three times to get them to shut up. Overall, though, I would have to say I love college the best out of all the schooling I have had. You have independence and more opportunities.
I feel that the gymnastics background and the discipline you guys put into that really carried over into your academics, which is cool and will help you be your personal best! Congrats you two!
I’m going into my third year this fall! I struggled (and still do) socially as well and found it to be a lot more effort to make friends than get good grades haha. Super excited for more day in your lives & apartment videos! ❤️❤️ Good luck this year!
really don't care about what people say, just do what you want to. If you guys are happy with the friends you have, with the way you go through College, that's amazing!
Please film more vlogs! I love seeing college from your perspectives because I honestly don’t know what it’s like that much. These videos are super informative!!
As someone who just completed Freshman year as well, I totally understand the social issues you guys have had. Making friends is 100% the hardest thing about college for me (and for more people than you would think). Its hard to be close friends with someone when you dont see them every day for hours on end, which is something ive struggled with. Like you guys I also came into college and roomed with my twin. Only in the spring semester did I start to make real friends, and not many of them at that.
I love y’all! I’m so overwhelmed just by the thought of attending university, I’m so conflicted on what I want to do with my life!!! I have the grades, habits, and behavior to succeed, I’m in AP and “gifted” classes with straight A’s but I don’t know what to do!!!
I've been watching you guys since you were on SGG, and no matter if you do gymnastics or not I will always love watching you guys. You are so relatable to me - the social aspects of life have always been tough for me, trying to make new friends. And I've never had a boyfriend either. I think you guys are really cool and I love how you are confident talking about your life and your problems, even if other people don't always understand.
I literally cannot even imagine you guys getting hate, you are so mellow and sweet. Congrats on making it through your freshman year and thanks for sharing your experience!
Please, please, pleaseee make the apartment tour, room tour, and day in your life vlogs. I love seeing vlogs from you guys they are some of my favorite videos from you guys!! good luck next year and in all your opportunities!❤️
I really love seeing anything about your experience at university! I’m getting ready to apply soon and I’m kind of freaking out so I’ve found it really helpful and encouraging to hear about your experience and see things like the day in your life videos, especially since you both seem to be a lot like me - I’m a really serious student and have always had small friend groups and I used to do gymnastics but quit for school! Good luck next year and have a great summer!
I have just graduated university, you sound very much like me. I always never had a huge amount of friends ( wasn't't the easiest thing for me either) and I was fine. Do what makes you happy, the most important thing is balance but everybody's balance is different. You need to find the balance between studying and looking after yourself (whatever that is for you, football games, exercising or socialising with friends). It's hard, it don't think I fully found a balance until the end of my final year. The way I found some friends was through a job I got at the University as a student ambassador. It was the best thing I did at university not just for the friends side but for my growth as a person. Might be something to consider looking into.
I went to the same college as my older sister, so I totally understand. It’s good to have family close by. Keep up the good work, and enjoy living off campus next year
I’m just like this with my sister and I hate when people comment on how we’re together so much so I totally feel you! Congrats to both of you for having an amazing first year! You’re both so admirable with how much you prioritize academics!
relate to this so much!! college cannot always be about social life when you are there for academics. many of my friends from high school and I split ways, because of our different mindsets on what college should be about and it is okay to not have a huge circle of friends :) the ones you do have are true and share the same ideals as you and that is even more special ❤️
I just finished my first year of college too and can relate to a lot of the things you guys talked about. Especially with the social and academic aspects, I found it hard to make friends too even with trying to join clubs and can definitely agree that school work is manageable if you put in the effort! Thank you guys for making this video, it makes me realize that college doesn’t have to always be about partying or what people usually expect from going away, but rather focusing on what your individual interests and goals are. Love you guys & hope you see this!
I graduated college in 2016 but I also struggled with the social aspect. Everyone would always say to make friends in class but I was too busy focusing on the content instead of making friends in class. I ended up in a relationship sophomore year and stopped stressing about “making friends” I was occupied enough with school and work that I didn’t really have a lot of free time and when I did I wanted to relax
I absolutely enjoy your videos at this channel cause i just love you both as persons. I totally understand you at the "studying is easier than making friends" part and i feel like i might feel the same after my first semester this winter. I hate that going to college/university in the US and in Germany (I'm from Germany, so btw sorry for my english) kind of always means to drink every night and go to parties. I think you're showing another way of college life which i personally like more. Hope you guys enjoy your college time and have a nice day! :) (i know that this video was posted a few months ago but i still hope that you'll read my comment anyway:))
I have to agree, I also had issues with the social aspect at college. I joined a programming club/board and helped put events on for the campus, but I didn't find my true friends until second semester. It was at that point that i found my true friends 3 of which who I ended up rooming with, and then one of them became my right hand gal, my best friend, and someone .I could go to for everything.
Thank you guys for making these kinds of videos, I am currently preparing to go to college in August and while every college experience is different, they are still extremely helpful
pls let us know what classes ur taking next semester and do a day in the life for each different day of classes!!! like a MWF day in the life vs a TTH day in the life bc I’m mine r so different
i also had (and still do have) a lot of trouble with the social aspect of college despite the number of clubs i joined haha. so its really comforting to see people in a similar situation, makes me feel a little less crazy
I know i’m super late, but I totally understand megan on the social aspect of college. I’m a month in a half in to my first year at ucla and it’s super hard to make friends.
I think its a healthy attitude to have regarding not caring what ppl think re your social life. I have never jad big friendship groups with the exception of at university as I lived on campus and my friendship group was massive, however 12 years later and I am in contact regularly with 1 of those people and with only 2 others on social media. You need to find your tribe and do what makes you happy.
Don't listen to the haters! They have no clue what they are talking about! You can do whatever you want! Please do more of the day in the life videos when you go back to college. I think they are great because I get to see a little peek into what college is like. Love u guys! Keep being yourselves! ❤
Not sure if you guys will read this comment, but my college experience has had a ton of similarities with yours! I also lived in burge last year as a freshman. And I also took Chem I and Chem II and taking Organic Chem next semester. It's kinda weird watching your videos since you've described things I've done too (rushing the field, studying in the library, living in burge, etc). ANd I'm pretty sure I've seen you two around campus. Anyway best of luck next year!
wait stop im so sad that the negative comments on your day in our life video is why you never made more!!! you have no idea how much i loved that video i rewatch it all the time for motivation as an incoming freshamn college student. i literally am begging you guys to make more this year😩😩😩❤️
I just finished my first year of college and it was really hard to make friends. The only reason I made any friends was because of Facebook and even then that didn’t really work out. For classes I honestly didn’t make any of my friends in any actual classes, all of my friends I made either from Facebook or through other friends that I had made. I think people make it off to be easy to make friends but I don’t think it was.
Hiii Congratulations! I’m from Holland and also part of a twin, but not identical. I just found out your UA-cam Channel and I really really love you video’s😍😍 Can’t wait to see moreeee❤️ You’re amazing!
Congratulations guys!!! I’ve been watching y’all for about 4 years now and it’s amazing to watch you guys grow and pursue the career you love!! Love you guys and congrats!!! Also happy 4th of July!!🇺🇸❤️💞💓
I just finished my first year of college also, I go to a community college but I agree with the friends part. I made no friends this year, and it was super hard to even talk to people.
Man i know i'm late on this video. but watching your videos now, i'm very happy and glad that you guys ignore the comments and still make the videos you guys make cause some of us actually enjoy all of them! I'm sorry for those lame comments and hope you are never discouraged! *just proud of myself i was the 3000 like lol*
O my gosh i cant believe ypu finished your first semester that means i also been watching you guy for 2 year because i know i was here when you put your college dorm room tour i cant believe its been so long . Love you ☺😚
you should join dance marathon! I almost went to Iowa and looked into joining DM there but I go to Indiana University now and LOVE dance marathon!! It's a great what to meet people and get really close with them! I have met so many people that I wouldnt have met otherwise and they are some of my favorite people!! DM is just such a great experience and for a good cause!
My mom always says the same thing you said. Classes are not really hard but making friends is super hard. She joined clubs and was a cheerleader and still thought it was hard to make friends.
Eliza Steere I don’t 100 percent remember what we did, but I remember that we ordered chem textbooks before classes started I think and ended being able to return them for a refund because they have it to us online, same thing with biology, except I couldn’t return it because I had opened it. It maybe wouldn’t hurt to just wait for classes to get some clarification
My mom is a professor at college and she is always telling me that students r so oblivious to the help that they r getting like she’ll literally tell them some answers that will be on the test and lots of ppl will still get them wrong. Sometimes ppl will go up to her and ask dumb questions and in her head she’s just like READ THE SYLLABUS so I feel like u two were probably rlly good students!
i think it’s so funny that i literally was watching ur videos like years and years ago when they were like gymnastics videos outside and now i’m going to u of i in the fall w u guys 😂
I think the problem some people have with college is that they coast through high school and don't develop good study habits and self-discipline. In college they expect students to know how to learn on their own. Without teachers and parents hounding them or holding their hand, they're sort of lost and overwhelmed. I never did well socially in college either, but I'm also a "few good friends" kind of person so it didn't trouble me much.
I just wanted to say it's so good and refreshing to see you being honest and be like "there's not one way to live college (party all the time), we do it this way". Congrats on finishing your first year!!
Congratulations on finishing your first year of College! 🎉🎊 I love you guys so much❤️

i just applied to the university of iowa for the fall of 2019! fingers crossed because it is one of my top choices!
Oh my gosh good luck! I hope you get to meet them and get a great degree!
You’ll probably get in, especially if you’re from Iowa. Best of luck!
amy no i will be a freshman!
Alyson Johnson did u make it?
You should do a what’s in my backpack video for college and how to stay organized!!

Hope you guys enjoy your college time and have a nice day! :) (i know that this video was posted a few months ago but i still hope that you'll read my comment anyway:))
Ciera at 1:51, “take me as I am or watch me as I go” 😆😂😂💛💛
I have to agree, I also had issues with the social aspect at college.
Omg congratulations 🎉 I love you guys so much ❤️
100% agree that the social aspect was the hardest and classes were the easiest part!
pls let us know what classes ur taking next semester and do a day in the life for each different day of classes!!! like a MWF day in the life vs a TTH day in the life bc I’m mine r so different
Bailey definitely think that would be cool!
i also had (and still do have) a lot of trouble with the social aspect of college despite the number of clubs i joined haha. so its really comforting to see people in a similar situation, makes me feel a little less crazy
You are amazing as always ! Congrats for your year in college ❤️
I know i’m super late, but I totally understand megan on the social aspect of college. I’m a month in a half in to my first year at ucla and it’s super hard to make friends.
There was a picture of yall in one of my Iowa orientation presentations! I got so excited when I saw it😂
Keep doing these college videos! I love them, they really help me get a better understanding of how college really is 💜💜💜💜
I’m so excited for the apartment tours!! Ahhh
I really want to see more college day in our life videos! I love them! And I’m going to college in 2019 and I want to learn more
I think its a healthy attitude to have regarding not caring what ppl think re your social life.
For video ideas you could do, “ how we kept off the freshmen fifteen” or just your normal workout routine
I love this kind off videos!😍😍 The workload thing rly sound like how it is in high school here.
So proud of this two.
Anyway best of luck next year!
wait stop im so sad that the negative comments on your day in our life video is why you never made more!!! you have no idea how much i loved that video i rewatch it all the time for motivation as an incoming freshamn college student. i literally am begging you guys to make more this year😩😩😩❤️
Emily C we plan on making more!
Any tips for people who procrastinate in studying?
Congrats Megan and Ciera❤❤
Congrats on finishing your first year of college!!!❤️❤️❤️
I really liked the day in the life video at college. I think it would be cool if you guys did a day in the life on game day!!
You guys look great and kicked college butts ⚡️ hopefully I can do that this semester 🤙🏽
Congrats! My brother just finished his second year of college, and I’m so ready to go to college lol!!
i have a question for a new video: do you guys have jobs at college? if you don’t then how do you pay for stuff?
Hiii Congratulations! I’m from Holland and also part of a twin, but not identical. I just found out your UA-cam Channel and I really really love you video’s😍😍 Can’t wait to see moreeee❤️ You’re amazing!
Congratulations guys!!! I’ve been watching y’all for about 4 years now and it’s amazing to watch you guys grow and pursue the career you love!! Love you guys and congrats!!! Also happy 4th of July!!🇺🇸❤️💞💓
i loved this video i think you guys should upload the different things you are doing to prepare for your apartment vlog style
I just finished my first year of college also, I go to a community college but I agree with the friends part. I made no friends this year, and it was super hard to even talk to people.
Best way is to join a student org!
I am leaving for college in 6 weeks, and I know nobody going there. I am super nervous that I wont be able to make any friends. 😂
Please make more day in my life videos because I LOVED that video so much and I have watched it fifteen times
Pleaseeee do more days in your life in college because I actually found them so interesting!!
Love these videos! It’s so cool growing up with you guys!

TheCheernastics2 OMG I love u guys so much I think ye are so creative and have great energy and personalitys!😘
Great video. Nice to hear you two talk about life
you should join dance marathon!
I live in IC! I’m still sad that I haven’t ran into you guys at all yet!❤️ Congrats on graduating!
My mom always says the same thing you said. Classes are not really hard but making friends is super hard. She joined clubs and was a cheerleader and still thought it was hard to make friends.
congratulations you beatiful girls! you are such hard workers💕
Congratulations!! I love you guys so much! ❤️ I love your sweatshirts, where did you get them?💜
Would you recommend preordering your textbooks at Iowa before you get to campus? I heard some professors give you the online version for free
Congrats! I love their sweatshirts!
*gasp* CONGRATULATIONS!! I love you guys so so SO much!
I'm so glad your first year went well! But Go State ❤💛
I think you are sooooooo lucky to have a built in friend with your sister.
Congratulations for your first year of college🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉.
Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!!
What’s your majors? I’m new
i think it’s so funny that i literally was watching ur videos like years and years ago when they were like gymnastics videos outside and now i’m going to u of i in the fall w u guys 😂
I love your day in a life videos!💕
Thanks so much for filming this video, I was hoping you would :)
And I can definitely see how the social aspect of university would be even more difficult with two of you
Congrats! Go Hawks! Love you guys! 💛❤
