It was the same guitar he broke each time. It was designed to break easy but also easy to fix. Although by the end of the tour the guitar was held together by duct tape
Now there is another Muse song which is called Hyper Chondriac Music. 'A slow song based on Hyper Music, featuring almost identical lyrics, the last line in Hyper Music reads "I don't want you and I never will", while this song contains "I don't love you and I never will". Has never been attempted live in full, though various riffs from the song have made an appearance at the sporadic show during the Black Holes and Revelations tour as well as Earls Court 2004.' - MuseWiki
Didn’t even realise the phone was at the end 🫣 Matt used to have cheaper guitars in his arsenal specifically for smashing, he had a few Ibanez Destroyer’s (such as the one in this video) that he’d occasionally use for destruction… he didn’t like the guitars so he enjoyed smashing them! I own one of Matt’s old Destroyers which he beat up and threw into the audience at Earls Court (which is a video already in the queue, though you can’t see the guitar getting smashed in that one). Matt’s pretty well known for smashing guitars, as others have said he holds the world record. As the later years came on, all his guitars were custom built by Manson’s Guitar Works (which he bought a majority stake of in 2019) so he tended to just smash those knowing most would either survive as they were built incredibly well or could just be repaired depending on how bad the damage was. He still does it these days, not as much as he used to but still does it quite a bit, when I saw them at the O2 Arena last year, he smashed two guitars to bits and gave them to the crowd as it was the last gig of the tour. A lot of people don’t agree with his smashing, but considering he owns the company now, the only person who really loses out is him… and all his guitars are built for it. Plus it’s fucking bad ass 😂
They did 2 shows at the Le Zenith, and it looks like they combined both shows for the Hullabaloo DVD. So I'm guessing this was before their Encore of "feeling good" and "Bliss"
I'd like to express my gratitude for the opportunity to hear the sound of your plug-in bass guitar for the first time. Thank you! :) Since I always have a new suggestion, I'll dare to ask: it would be fantastic if you could set up the playlists so that videos are sorted chronologically. I know this option exists, and some of us, like myself, enjoy listening to all the videos of certain bands in order. It feels like we're following your journey :) Thank you, David, you're the best reactor on UA-cam! You got 9.7 from me :))))
The verse bassline is an ascending D minor scale, but it's not Aeolian as you played it, it's Dorian (natural sixth). The flat sixth does show up in other parts though.
probably the band i've done the biggest 180 on. Huge fan when i was 20, went to 4 shows. I loved all the theatrics. Now i see it as the epidemy of guitar wank. It's like basic classical music tropes with guitar gymnastics on top. Sometimes it rocks hard but I just can't unsee what I now see. It just feels like they're pulling tricks out of a bag. All that said... Matts incredibly talented (obviously) - I just find the music far less inspired than i used to.
Can't be certain, but im fairly sure Matt never had a guitar endorsement. Not with Ibanez at least. As orger have said he is the majority share holder or now full owner of Manson guitars.
I just discovered this channel recently and you remind me of old youtuber that stop making videos "coverkillernation". literally the same music scene knowledge etc. Are you related to him?
Your bass interpretation is slightly wrong but it's close 😅 It was an encore. They done three more songs after that. Such an amazing live dvd. Hullabaloo Live in Le Zenith. Decent score! Matt has the Guinness world record for most guitars smashed on one tour: 140 😂😂😂
I really dont like this hullabaloo gig...matt's vocals are still so young so his voice is extremely high and the camera director did a terrible choice of making this annoying one seconds cuts, you cant see anything.
I can’t stand his vocals though he’s a good singer. I can always guess exactly what he’s gonna sing in every song. He starts low. Slides up to every note. Eventually going up into that falsetto with vibrato. 90s Thom yorke, who he obviously emulates, at least had a good sense of melody back in the day
I think the Thom Yorke comparisons are way overstated. As for Radiohead as a whole, I think the influence is undeniable on the first album but by Origin Of Symmetry they’d definitely branched out from that considerably. I don’t think Thom Yorke is anywhere near as good a singer as Matt Bellamy personally, though I’m obviously biased to Muse. Thom sounds really weak and whiny by comparison.
Fun fact, Matt has the Guinness World record of the most guitars destroyed in one single tour
It's OK he owns Mansons guitars
@@firebird117 not when he established the record in 2004.
He bought Manson's in 2019
@machridom correct indeed I just wanted to say it for the joke, not a good one granted but I tried 🤣

That's not fun at all... almost want to shed a tear for my bass thinking about that
Yes... We get that bass plugged in love to see it

When they were still a rock band and not that pop crap they make these days.

Awesome reaction. I love your take on bass lines. I appreciate it as a fellow base guitarist
Perfect baby muse! Enjoy growing up and old with them
Hyper Music is such a great song glad u liked it
woww , another great track after U2. hell yeah, lets keep rolling.
Love the bass in hyper music, I know its not difficult but most of my favorite bass lines arent about how difficult they are.
The verse bassline is an ascending D minor scale, but it's not Aeolian as you played it, it's Dorian (natural sixth). The flat sixth does show up in other parts though.
Im first so please do Sick Love by rhcp in the next review :D
Not quite how it works lol

Fps is frames per second. No way tell frame rate from a still shot 😅
W00t!
You actually didn't have it with the flat 6 -- it was a B natural! The root key is thus (as you know of course) D Dorian.
Hyper music is one of my favourite basslines, absolutely slaps (pardon the pun)

Hey Dave, Hyper Music is one of the Muse tracks that I think sounds better on the album. The base line is a lot more prominent.
OLD MUSE IS SO COOL , SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT OF ENERGY
I just discovered this channel recently and you remind me of old youtuber that stop making videos "coverkillernation". literally the same music scene knowledge etc. Are you related to him?
Not that I'm aware of...
studio versions are always best becaused they are produced better than live ones and hyper music is a must listen as original studio version for me
Good
Your bass interpretation is slightly wrong but it's close 😅

Such an amazing live dvd. Hullabaloo Live in Le Zenith.
Decent score!
Matt has the Guinness world record for most guitars smashed on one tour: 140 😂😂😂
Agitated was a b-side, Hyper music proper album release, that's why the first one may not sound as clean as the later one.
Haha I like your channel but man, I don't think you know what FPS stands for. You can't tell how many frames per second a song has by a still image
I really dont like this hullabaloo gig...matt's vocals are still so young so his voice is extremely high and the camera director did a terrible choice of making this annoying one seconds cuts, you cant see anything.

Yeah no matter what's going on instumentally he's singing the same thing, a bit of an exaggeration but...
You mean a singer has a style? What! How dare he...
Matt was inspired by Jeff Buckley, not Thom Yorke. Yorke is a big Buckley fan, so it's likely he was inspired by him too.
I think the Thom Yorke comparisons are way overstated. As for Radiohead as a whole, I think the influence is undeniable on the first album but by Origin Of Symmetry they’d definitely branched out from that considerably.

actually each song is different...Thom Yorke? always sounds too slow for me
