Amazing how a large lake like with good highway access has such a northern feel. Down south, there'd be cottages everywhere and boats and seadoos. Pretty nice! I hope to visit next year. (@HwHenri)
Thank you kindly. I like to show the beauty of paddling these areas, so maybe some of those watching will try a trip to there as well. That's how I often get inspired.
@@brentandellesoutdooradventures The cottages are concentrated, as you would expect, in the first 2 km and thereafter from 9 to 14 km (the only big opening to cross). They are very scattered in other places, and pretty much disappear after km 14. A lodge is right by the launch area, so no issue. There are a few cabins further north, but they hide well, as the lake is 50 km long.
I'm really glad you made this video, Onaping was on my list for scouting this year but I couldn't make it happen. It is a place I'll try to get to for next season for sure. Is it safe to say there are a lot of campsites to choose from? It looked like once you got a little ways north from the launch that the cottages were few and far between? This video is much appreciated. 👍
It is a really nice looking lake. There is no overkill on cottages, and they do cluster more in the first 1-2 kilometers from the launch. The lake is also good in that there are only a few large open areas where wind would be an issue, though you can follow the shoreline there. Otherwise, the narrow spots and islands make for some decent protection and often totally still surface water. You saw the nice site I was at. I marked about 7 or 8 along the way on my GPS that would be worth a look if I was in need of a site. I know from another video that there is a good site at the end of the long bay to Scotia Lake. I think canoeists have put some sites in various locations, but nothing is marked, except the one I stayed at (it had the orange tent triangle sign on a tree).

I enjoyed watching the nice peaceful paddle to your site.

@ I checked out that lake as soon as I was done watching. Good location. Are there many cottages or lodges?
