I've had really good experiences with GitHub Actions. In fact, I just migrated our whole CI pipeline from Travis to GitHub and it's been terrific for us I've heard great things about CodeMagic for Flutter, but haven't heard much about it for vanilla Android projects.
This is a really interesting topic; maybe worth an episode someday. There's tools out there such as GitHub's dependabot that can detect version updates or vulnerabilities and automatically create pull requests. I think there are some Gradle plugins that can also update versions which can then be added to a ci workflow to automate the process.
