- This week we visit Arundel Castle in Sussex for a day out and to find out what it's like, if you should go and if it's worth the price. In this video we give you a full tour of the Medieval keep, state rooms (including St Mary's Chapel, the great hall, library and stunning gardens and grounds.
There are nearly 1,000 years of history at this impressive castle, situated in magnificent grounds overlooking the River Arun in West Sussex and built at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel. From the 11th century, the castle has been the seat of the Earl of Arundel and, for over 400 years, the Duke of Norfolk.

You say there's a lot to see, which will take time and energy, so you would expect somewhere decent to sit, relax and refuel. Perhaps we've just been spoilt by National Trust catering!
It's just when you compare it to somewhere like Warwick castle that had about 6-7 different places to get food and refreshments. Very strange
The castle did have a cafe and a seperate fully licensed restaurant. Unfortunately, Covid has put a temporary hold on the restaurant. It will be back.
