oh my god
Holy fucking shit
no fucking way
I hope your "What I Watched in December" list is full of cheesy and fun Christmas movies. Would be fun to hear your take on those!
it should be 30 days of the muppets christmas carol
What I would watch in December would probably be the Hudsucker proxy, even though I consider it a new year movie, due to the fact that it takes place in the new year's eve.
“my friend got me this dvd as a joke”
@@goodjobeli that’s the best Christmas movie with out question!
Hope he does Violent Night, the Christmas Story Sequel, and Puss in Boots
The Menu was the biggest surprise of the year for me the trailer gave me no excitement but man what a great time
I’m honestly kind of surprised he wrote it off as pulpy fun. Yeah, it was funny but I thought it had a lot of interesting things to say about the relationship between creation and fulfillment.
why do I feel like Karsten sees a movie that tackles “being a boy in middle school with such honesty” almost every month
I love how The Menu is poking fun at people who ruin the art of food. The food critic woman is the best example of this. Then the movie is reviewed by Karsten who analyzes other films in much the same way. No hate to Karsten, I just think it's funny that all art forms are over-critized. Especially by people who don't actually know how to make the art (much like Tyler in the movie)
Proud of the amount of irish movies in your roster this month. Glad to see we dont only make Belfast's for you to review!
Love this comment

The fact that you gave Happy Feet a positive review immediately earns you my respect.
Karsten's content has evolved over time. Seems like he improved even further as time passes.
Well, you would hope so...
Yeah, the world cup has some amazing close ups and some awesome slow-motions. Its animation and VFX’s can be better and the performance are fine. I love how it is keeping me on the edge of my seat and has me watch every week while knowing the outcome. If you have never watch you should watch cause you will have a blast! 4/5 (5/5 if Netherlands wins)
4/5 then :(
sorry but gakpo and vand dijk are netherlands
the underdog plot of Saudi Arabia beating Argentina seems a little to far fetched and unrealistic to me but glad it's not the high point of it and just a part of Argentina's struggles they have to overcome. Can't wait to see the end.
@@blitzblix9455 gakpo is goated
@@blitzblix9455 I understand you but, it I think its Noppert, Aké and Gakpo that are the Netherlands but, movies are subjective.
@@austinfull8941 Couldn't agree more!
Recently saw Glass Onion and I loved it. Would be cool if you did a review!
cinema, art and music. don't we appreciate them even more living through these bleak times?
Ohhh please complete The Hunger Games Saga! The 3rd/4th one was alright, but d*mn was Catching Fire a good adaptation.
i second this, loved The Hunger Games when i was a kid lol, still do
Happy Feet is amazing!!!
It had Elijah Wood, Brittany Murphy, Robin Williams, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, and THE Steve Irwin.
That movie was so unique and fun.
Not to be glib, but my god-is there a Happy Feet curse?
EDIT: Just looked it up, and did you mean Elijah Wood, not Ezra Miller?
@@mockturtlesuppe yes I did! sorry about that, I had just finished typing a comment about “We Need to Talk About Kevin” loll
Holy shit, that is a stacked cast. I probably should put that one finally on my watchlist.
thank you karsten for sharing with us what movies you watched in november
Loved Glass Onion. I'm already ready for a 3rd installment.
I saw Smile and Banshees of Inisherin back-to-back, and it was great! I expected Smile to be terrible but it was actually pretty good. Somehow, Banshees was way more viscerally disturbing to me, though, with one of the greatest screenplays ever written.
the menu is definitely more deep than you think way better than this "just fun" description lol
its as deep as a pond
thank you for giving me a list of movies to base my personality on for December!
It feels like the october one came out yesterday
Recently watched wings of desire and absolutely loved it really recommend
wings of desire is a wonderful film, bruno ganz is amazing in it
The original with Bruno Ganz (and Columbo) is a must-see. Simple high-concept premise done well to just vibe with.
Also, Ganz in "The Downfall" is the definitive Hitler performance. Downfall is dark as hell but it's the best movie I've ever seen.
I have lived watching your videos all my life Karsten!
Keep up the phenomenal work buddy!
Congratulations on 600k subs. Very excited for that 1 mil mark! Love you Karsten!
I watched order of the Phoenix, half blood prince and muppets Christmas carol and I regret nothing
Okay but muppets Christmas carol is a masterpiece
@@REAL.T0AD indeed! could not agree more!
I am so happy you love Happy Feet! I also think it is unfairly criticised and underappreciated. On a daily basis, I yell out "I'm going to be telling your story Happy Feet, long after you are dead and gone!"
I thought Schaffrillas was only person that hates this movie
What I can remember watching in November:
Sherlock Holmes (Guy Ritchie version)
Django Unchained
Intolerable Cruelty
Wet Painters (yes, the SpongeBob episode)
Miller's Crossing
The World's End
I love how you casually dropped in that you watched something as huge as Hunger Games for the first time. You gotta see Catching Fire next!
I had Barbarian hyped up to me as well and I thought it didn’t deserve half the praise it was given. I’m willing to bet on rewatch you will see the seams a little more and it will break down somewhat
I highly recommend you watch andor in December, I get you’re not very much of a Star Wars fan and did not like rogue one that much, but the show is one of the greatest pieces of television of the year and I think it’s slow pacing would be your kind of thing
I highly agree. I liked how Andor was Star Wars content we don't deserve but we needed just like The Mandalorian.
this month I saw please baby please … that movie… cannot be described in words
Saw 9 to 5 recently and was not expecting to hear it 😂 so good!
Started with a rewatch of Black Panther. For whatever reason, I didn't really care for it as far as marvel movies go when it came out. Not sure what 2018 me was thinking, it's really good
Next I watched Wakanda Forever. I have a huge marvel bias of course i loved it.
Next I watched Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Really enjoyed it, funniest movie I've seen this year.
I finished the month with a rewatch of Knives Out. Still remains as my favorite non-comic book movie, I love everything about it. Really wanted to see Glass Onion in theaters but my usual theater wasn't showing it so I kinda just didn't wind up going. Looking forward to watching it next month
What I watched:

Blade Runner 2049 5/5
Dead Poets Society 4.5/5

Top Gun: Maverick 5/5 (rewatch)
A Bronx Tale 4.5/5
I look forward to these videos every month! Thanks Karsten! Congrats on 600K Subs.
could i ask which cut of the original bladerunner you watched? There are a bunch, but the best one is the final cut. Amazon only had the theatrical cut, which didn’t have the ambiguous ending, plus some awkward last minute narration shoe-horned in.
@@atinofspam3433 I watched the Theatrical Cut. That's what was available on Amazon.
Did you enjoy Masculin Féminin?
I always see photos of it on “aesthetic film” Pinterest boards. I’m curious about the actual plot and if it’s any good.
@@nutellaJar I've heard from Jean Luc Goddard that there's no script to the film so it felt like a mess at different places but the relationship with Paul and Madeleine was beautiful.

@@mikedym96 dude, I want to watch Bones and all but I don’t exactly have a way to until the movie is available for everyone to watch at home
My month is not done until a Karsten's recap
I tried blindly selecting a year on Letterboxd, then scrolling to randomly stop for a movie to watch and got The Rutles. I assumed nobody else had seen it and I’m kind of freaked out at the coincidence
I witness your insane coincidence.
When I was walking out of the theater after watching Decision to Leave, I was just thinking to myself "Damn Park Chan Wook is just showing off at this point". It feels like he speedran the skill of directing and now he's just a level 100 director toying with us. Even if for whatever reason you don't like the story, there is still so much to learn from a mise en scene & directing stand point. I can't stop gushing about that man, he's truly a master at his craft.
I’m gonna be honest i tried watching Decision To Leave and got quite a bit into the film, i think an hour and a half at least after all the weird flashbacks about him catching this murderer that was so strangely/confusingly edited and after the girl explains all the stuff with her dead mom. Idk the movie’s tone was so jarring for me, I really want to like it but I tried watching it again and that tone hit me like a brick wall, its like whiplash, and the movie felt like it was dragging on with a lot of subplots like that one colleague who keeps getting annoyed with him. I’ve seen just a few Korean films but this was the most confusing, not cuz of the plot but the editing in combination with the sound-mixing overlapping here and there, made it so much more confusing than necessary.
I guess I’m asking is it the mid-point thats slow and I just gotta get through it or is it just not my film. Sometimes the editing seems so all over like when we see the dude sleeping with his wife and then seeing stuff on his tv for example. I don’t really get why he’s making it so overly complicated.
Loved the menu, barbarian, and glass Onion so much!!🔥
Ooo let us know when/if to watch Catching Fire, that was my favorite book of the trilogy and I think they adapted it pretty well!

happy 600k karsten!!
You should try the rest of the Hunger Games films! I'd say the first is still the best, but the others have some moments that make it worthwhile. The third one has one of the most chilling and powerful scenes I've seen in a long time
If you liked hunger games, definitely check out catching fire. Mocking jay probably isn't worth it unless you really wanna give it a warch
I highly recommend Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. It's probably one of the funniest films I've ever seen, and nothing could have prepared me for the direction it took as it went on (IYKYK). It's such a great spoof of the biopic genre that it loops around and ends up becoming one of the best biopics in general.
It's such a great time for films right now. Glass Onion, Decision To Leave, Bones and All, Banshees of Inisherin.
Its so funny to me that between mad max and happy feet, George miller got the oscar for the penguin one.
Funny, but not outrageous or anything. Happy feet is so good.
What I watched in November:
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Scott Pilgrim V.S the World (again)
The Dark Knight
The Banshees of Inisherin
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
The Blues Brothers (again)

Also I just watched Lord of The Rings trilogy for the first time earlier this year and it’s amazing :)!
@@nutellaJar I thought Okja was solid 7/10, I liked some of the social commentary.

re hopefully upcoming Christmas movies: Have you watched 'Better Watch Out'? Its from 2016 and I think it flew under the radar, at least under mine. Had a blast! Like a dark take on Home Alone with some actually surprising twists. Can recommend.
I watched:
American Psycho (rewatch)
Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (rewatch)

Happy feet is my one of my favorite animated movies
re: Rutles - All You Need Is Cash - there isn't much to say about it? How about it's got one of the greatest soundtracks of all time? Some of those songs are as good as the Beatles' songs they're an homage to. How about the fact that the Beatles were huge fans of it? There's actually a LOT to be said about it. And if you know the history of the Beatles at all, it's essential viewing.

I need to finish Decision to Leave. I watched it half asleep while attempting to watch all of South Korean cinema highlights and felt I wasn't paying enough attention so I decided to watch it on my TV. Happy Feet is underrated and overhated asf
Hey if you like Halloween, check out Black Christmas, some call it the earlier slasher but its absolutely a fantastic horror movie. I think it takes the slasher structure and subverts it in really nice ways. Whereas Halloween definitely fulfills all the slasher tropes and in hindsight has suffered for it.
(i personally find it hasn’t aged well since slashers became such a huge thing, and it definitely suffers from the backseat effect where you keep thinking why tf did this character do this)
