Fan service is definitely taking away from the quality of a lot of shows. They have interesting plots and characters, then all of a sudden someone is spotted in the shower or there's just a cut to the character's butt in tight shorts or an overly bouncy chest Why are you distracting from the story you've written? Do we really need to take this detour?
One thing I don't like about anime is how a slap to the face seems to reset everything. Having a bad day, slap to the face, now they feel better. Being an ass to someone, slap to the face, you're right, I was wrong. I think Kaze no Stigma did it right. MC was very angry at someone, got slapped, so just left. Didn't reset his anger. Just had him leave to go do what had to be done.
