Looking forward to what you, Steph, and friends get up to in the Mediterranean with the monohull. Even more than that, though, I want to see how that catamaran turns out. I really love that it's going to be a sailboat with solar-charged electric motors. Also great to see that you've got a backup generator that will run the whole thing if you're in a situation where the solar isn't cutting it (Uma ran into an issue with that in the arctic). The environmentalist in me really appreciates the sustainability of the rig, and the penny-pincher appreciates how much less you're going to have to spend on fuel. On top of that all, the amount of living and relaxing space looks incredible!
That custom layout is great! I think the huge bathroom found in most owners cabins that takes up the whole end of the hull doesn’t make sense. Having a long bathroom on the side with plenty of room for shower plus an office makes so much more sense. Especially for remote workers. That wide chined hull allows for such a great use of space.
I think it is a great idea. This will stabilize the videos for the summer and sailing in the med is great. I will look forward to your adventures. The new CAT looks great. Thanks for this update.

Hey Bobby, love the way you have the new cat powered. My plug in hybrid car works similarly--has a battery range which makes it an EV, then has a gas generator that drives the electric motor so I can drive using gas as long as I have fuel. I really think that's the way to go until battery/solar technology allows us to get away from gas.

Very interesting...it looks like a very nice cat for the money...what is interesting though is Plukky from sailing into freedom is also having a new cat built of aluminium in Greece. I believe the builders are taking a lot of advice from him because of his experience and expertise...into the design and build....I'm going to try and ask Plukky what he makes of your 525 ...
We think the videos in the Med will bring those consistent elements we love about sailing channels! We are excited to get to that area ourselves a bit later in the season!
Sounds like a great plan. Love the idea of going back to Greece on a mono. I can't say enough about the bow doorway in the salon of the new boat. I've charted two newer Fountain Pajot catamarans with the doorway in the bow of the salon and it's a game changer. I typically can't sleep that well the first couple nights on a boat I haven't captained before. I open the bow salon door as well as the stern salon door and sleep really well with a nice breeze coming through the cabin. Always on point! lol. Mean while my wife is sleeping like a baby with the AC on 70F in our cabin. The things we do!
Bobby, New boat (to you) looks good. Be sure the survey tests the solar output (voltage and current). 2014 solar panels are neanderthal like and may need to be replaced. If so, check the solar controller - it may need replacing also. (New panels may exceed the solar controller's capacity.)

You're going to love that cat ! Buying the boat for a few months is not the best idea, but certainly far from terrible. You have a good gauge on what the market on resale would be but you never know. Even if you take a small loss on it, compare a couple of grand to several grand renting an apartment or paying to drive your RV around. It's probably a break even, which is what you could hope for. What a life !

That is by any stretch a great plan. With the new Cat you will undoubtedly get some great content for us all to enjoy, I only wish I could enjoy the experience live, but alas I cannot.
