Cool decks! Perhaps you can cover up the word "divine" in those cards about masc & fem. Of course the guide book meaning might bug you, though. I have decks I have pulled cards out of that I don't like, too. I mean they're our decks, we can customize them if we want! Lol. As far as "forcing" myself to use certain decks, there are times when I need to get to know a deck I rarely use, and will commit to using just that one deck for a couple of weeks. Sometimes, it will be longer, but usually I can tell if I am going to continue using a deck or passing it along after a couple of weeks.
Also not interested in Thoth. I feel like... I've spent enough of my life reading authors I think were awful humans that I don't need more of that now. I also feel you on the 'masc/fem' nonsense; I think that if people had a really straightforward clear precise conversation about what they mean about these terms... some really icky stuff would come up, honestly. I have one oracle that has a 'masculine' and a 'feminine' card and I've just left them out. Gender binarism no thanks. I actually totally see Brady as perfect for this time of year! I've never owned it, but it is definitively winter where I am (-12 C and under a 25cm of snow warning now) and I think Brady would work.
I've never seen that first deck and that two of wands is not giving two of wands, it's giving something else entirely. not mad about it though and as always, love your videos!
Thanks for the info about the Insight Editions cardstock. I've been tempted by the Labyrinth one, but I thought the cardstock would be garbage, and no one ever describes it. I don't have a lot of patience for sh*tty cardstock anymore - I also have arthritis, and I already have too many decks that I actually enjoy shuffling. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I had the Divine Nature deck and ended up getting rid of it because Angi Sullins' writing gives me second-hand embarassment lmao. The art is so beautiful that it sucked me in initially, but no. Very tempted by Sacred Nature... you're right, it is so creepy. And I love it. Have you ever paired it with Drowning World? That's the one I'm thinking of using it with. 🤔
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis too, It’s nice to relate to someone when we have stuff in common like tarot and arthritis.. and I get how hard it can be shuffling decks sometimes, it can be a real pain!😅
Yay, very happy to hear you also are not happy with the ‘sacred feminine’ trend of a lot of decks. I thought I was a deviant. Which I really don’t mind but still… 😂
I’m fascinated by Lady Freida Harris’ artwork in the original Thoth deck, but everything I learn about Alistair Crowley makes me not want to learn Thoth😅 I hear he contributed a lot to modern esotericism, but I still have the ick. Edit: Also I will never get over you liking a deck then passionately hating certain cards😂😂 so relatable
"Ewwwww, I wish you had done this reading with a Thoth deck" 🤣 I feel the same about Thoth as you do. 😬 I'm completely fine and comfortable with reading decks with RWS meanings, regardless of the type of deck/system used.
My hubby got me the Mystical Dreams tarot in Dec 2023. It was on my wish list. But once I got it I was not drawn to it. This past December I forced myself to use it daily. By the end of the month I was done. I just can’t connect to it but …..
On forcing yourself into a deck... maybe that works out sometimes, but why?? I tried to get into Motherpeace, last month, I fuckin hate it, but I did try. That silhouette in the Tower card you were looking at, when you turned it upside down, looks like the outline of someone carrying a body. I love Brady, that 5/Arrows is a shitty situation, but I have pulled that card when it was just exactly what I needed to see. There are some deck authors I don't love... the great art doesn't really help. I love Del Toro, I let it go, and I miss it and want it back. Great cardstock. The pips are really expressive. With a big old deck collection, there's a bunch of decks I just pull out to look at. That's totally fine for me. I completely agree with your assessment of the Fyodor Pavlov Tarot. It's just perfect.
I love using my Thoth, but I don't read the astrology, kabbala, or thelema stuff in it. I just read it as any other deck, which is my personal numerology and elemental associations combined with the intuitive hits I get from the colours/ art. (I trimmed mine, so it does not have the keywords, though I do have a cheat sheet somewhere in the depths of my brain, in case I want to use it as an oracle deck). But I totally understand your point, because I feel the same with some decks, that I have considered buying in the past, like the dreams of gaia tarot, Sibilla and Kipper cards, or even ogham sticks. Reality is, I feel satisfyingly inspired with my current tools and ways of reading and my "systems" and the stories, answers and insights I get from them, so I just won't spend money, time and energy on learning a different system right now.
Its so funny how different decks can resonate with each person differently. I have always thought of The Brady as a winter deck!

I'm not a fan of Thoth or the feminine and masculine crap either. I often take decks out and just look through them as well. I love the art.

ahhhhhh a new video!

I feel the same way about Thoth.

I also am not interested in the Thoth at all.
