Love is the main ingredient in your delicious meals!! For your kids being healthier - maybe look into DIY echinacea angustifolia dried root tincture (susun weed) as very effective - mix 1-3 dropper-fulls (depending on weight) in a bit of tea or water (maybe lemon also to hide taste) 3-5 times a day till well. also hydrogen peroxide (3%) finger rubbed around and in ears at first sign of illness very helpful to head things off (dr mer co la). Real garlic and ginger very effective but harder to get kids to take. i think whatever you do for them with love will work!
These comments are driving me nuts! Anna explained in a comment that most years, they make between 20-30k, which IS below the poverty line for a family of 4. She's explained that she thrifts and doesn't spend a whole lot. Her home is filled with nice things. But you can get nice things at the thrift store or garage sales. Just because her home doesn’t look like a shack doesn't mean she's being disingenuous about living below the poverty line. In her state. In the US.
I just found her channel and I love it, we’re ‘poor’ and so is pretty much everyone around us in our area in the south. But I love seeing other people make their homes beautiful with little money or using what they have already. Thrift stores and yard sales have SO MANY treasures!! The love and care you put into your space shows. We live in a tiny 20 year old mobile home but over the years have made it so cozy and it’s my favorite place to be. ❤️
It’s crazy how people put a “look” on being poor. I went to a food bank and they had different tables set up. I approached a table to see what they were offering and the lady got loud with me and said “This is for the homeless people”. She really upset me. I asked her if she could please tell me what allows her to believe I’m not homeless! Was I supposed to have a certain look?!? I have never went back there again.
@@thesun-N-moon8885Never heard anyone say this as I was homeless about a decade ago. Perhaps it was personal hygiene items. Or food that requires no cooking for the homeless or others who do not have cooking facilities or prefer not to cook. When I was housed, all of the food banks have some kind of system where they offer or inquire if I preferred foods not needing to be cooked. At that point, was happy to have a stove-oven, not much of a cook then, yet always made myself a hot beverage in the mornings, and finally at a point, thankful and grateful to enjoy being able to cook a simple meal. That lady was either intentionally rude, or got her messages mixed up by someone else. Sorry you had to go through this.

Crazy how some people are gatekeeping poverty in the comments. I grew up well below the poverty line and my mom made our house beautiful with things she found on the street and paint. She also worked very hard to keep our house and yard very neat and clean.
My husband and I have been together for 5 years and have two toddlers. We have consistently lived off of $600 a week or less ever since we've been together. I stay home with the kids and we have learned how to hardcore budget everything and make a lot of food from scratch. We have moved several times and recently bought a fixer upper home. It is possible to live well in poverty. Things are older and nothing is really new but as long as the family is well taken care of that is all that matters!
why are the comments trying to gatekeep the poverty line??? as someone who is FAR below the poverty line (i only make around 6.5k a YEAR) Anna is ABSOLUTELY also living below the poverty line, especially for a family of 4. poverty is poverty, leave her alone. just because someone has more/makes more than you doesn’t mean they aren’t also impoverished. in this day and age, more of us are closer to poverty than lower-middle class than ever before.
I think measuring poverty from some income line is silly anyway. What we consider poverty is, in most of the world, comfortable living. What WAS poverty in the 1930s in this country is what poverty looks like. This means barely enough food, living off cheap grains and not much else. Living in rags for clothes, with maybe one good hand me down for church. An orange or some new home made socks at Christmas. Never having new shoes, maybe newspaper in the soles where there are holes. Let's be real. Just because you live on a very frugal budget does not mean you are "impoverished." I live very frugally and have always been below that "line." My kids had what they needed and ate very healthy, balanced meals. Christmas was on a budget, but there were gifts. My kids are almost grown and I don't have much in my place that I bought new. I love my home. It needs some repair and that has had to wait until I could save. I work seven days a week. Grow and can my own food. Hard times are coming again. Everyone reading this should be storing three months of food, medicine, pet food, etc.
We lived in a very small house x 36 years and if you pull your weeds, mow, clean the front porch as you are doing, even if you can't plant flowers and get new mulch..your home looks well cared for and nice
As a wife also in corporate america, these videos are always intriguing to me. I luckily work from home full time and get to do all the things now considered "traditional wife". Feeding my family, keeping a clean calm and peaceful home, growing our own fruit and veggies and becoming more self sustainable etc. Even though we are well above poverty level, we wear used clothes, make our own bread and make things frim scratch and our own cleaning products etc. Goodwill and a sewing machine are my faves, dollar store seeds and dirt are my go to, using kitchen scraps to start your veggies and fruit as well! Eggs shells and used coffee grounds, compost tea and exchanging meals and plants with neighbors. Hubby wants chickens but we swap garden grown produce for fresh eggs currently. Also, you can totally sew a quick and easy duvet with goodwill fabric . Super easy if you can sew a button. I admire thr lifestyle and know that, even wives that work full time are enjoying these lifestyles. Thanks for the tips from a non "traditional wife" just being a homemaker and working at the same time. I love it!
The premise of your comment is nonsensical, as *homemaking is a full time job* . Logically, you can't work two full times jobs and do each to the best of your ability. So, whether you give 100% to your job or not, you are not giving 100% to raising your home.
@@MarkelBeverley there is something called efficiency. I know working moms who give more to their homes and jobs, than 'non-working' mothers, and single 'working' women. Also, not all jobs require 100% effort, some jobs (including homemaking) require just 40% from an experienced, intelligent and efficient worker...to be able to do the job Perfectly. So, that's just an ancient excuse to shame women out of the workforce (and out of universities/ high schools), and keep mentally abusing them.
I’m 80 n my husband is 84 ,we always lived below our income.We didn’t build our house until we were in our fifties.People my husband worked with couldn’t believe we could afford such a nice home.Good thing about our home it’s always been payed for.

Find yards with beautiful perennials. Walk along with your children and stop to admire then if anyone is around, ask if they'll share. Especially look for retired folks working in the yards. Used to be that's how everybody got their plants. Sharing and connecting are blessings of living frugally. God provides.
Bought a pack of Aubretia seeds a while ago, small ground cover perennials in a pretty blue, put a row along the front of borders under about an inch of soil in spring. Will need to water them through the first summer but after that they just do their own thing! Pack of 500 for a couple of dollars.... It doesn't have to be expensive. Marigolds will self seed and spread every year.. There are loads of seeds around that are perennial.
I love this! I started the first half of my adult life in poverty as a single mom with two kids and now later in life the past six years. Most people don’t know I live in poverty and due to health am unable to work a pt job. But I make it all work. And my life is good. I make all my own food from scratch, garden, spend time caring and homemaking my home inside and outside. I thrift and rarely purchase new unless its something I have saved for a long time. Just because you have a lovely home doesn’t mean you have a lot of money. It just means you know how to make due and care for what you do have. Anna, thank you for sharing. Yes, this can be done. A quality life with God as our center.

I am a cancer fighter and my husband bought us an electric push mower and I love that thing… I mow our yard every week now by myself… they are amazing in my opinion
Get a few rosemary cuttings from a friend and put them in water. You'll have roots in 2 weeks. Plant these in small pots till they grow larger , then put them in the flower bed. They are green year round and smell great.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this already, but elderberry syrup changed our lives when our kids were little, Especially during the winter months. We made our own because it’s much cheaper that way and my kiddos took a spoonful daily.

People hating here are obviously ignorant of the fact that “the poverty line” is a term of art. It is a specific number calculated by the govt based on the cost of essentials in the area. you can look it up. By definition, yes, the creator lives below the poverty line. It’s just a fact. Kudos to you for being able to do so much with so little! I can see you put in the time and effort to make your money go far for your family! Better than me and my family are doing at more than twice the income honestly! I’m inspired

I just want to say I haven’t found anyone on you tube who talks about Jesus biblically and with homemaking as peaceful and encouraging as you. I know it is the work of God and Glory to him because of it. I personally have no woman speaking into my life about God and how to live and I watch your videos daily since I found u to encourage me in my motherhood and biblical role model as a wife and mother and how to act or be content. We have our own individual toothpaste as well. Even my husband and I. We started practicing the method 4 yrs ago and it really helps cut down on spreading germs.
Your channel just came across my feed. The title jumped out at me. My hubby and I lived below the poverty line for years. We have owned two homes and were told by the bank that there is no way with our income that we should even get the money. We are currently in our second owned home and it’s paid for. Was it hard living below the poverty line… yes, and we were not always smart with our money but we never had a bill late and we always had what we needed. God truly did provide. We fooled alot of people because you would have never known it. We did what we could and took care of what we had and had lovely homes. We rented a couple in the beginning. We have been married twenty three years now and our kids are older. Our income has went up through the years. I would ask though will you share some of your tips on a video( maybe you already have) on how you budget and what your spending looks like? I have to be honest even though we make more now with our business expenses and inflation it’s tight at times. What are some tips you can share? I honestly think tithing is a major component in provision. Just curious what you do as far as what you do today in this economy to stay afloat. 😊

I’m tired of seeing influencers flaunting their wealth when some of them may be fooling everyone just like you mentioned. Also, I only show roughly 13 minutes of my day. We have things around here in this home that really need assistance and could be even dangerous to our health, but we can’t afford to correct it and I’m not complaining. Having running water, warm beds, and food to eat - I realize I am rich in all the ways that really matter and that’s what this video was all about ♥️ A lot of people have asked about budgeting so it’s something I have on my list for a future video 😊
It’s amazing what you can do when you live below your means!! I have found as a family of seven we can easily live below the “poverty” line. Also check the front loader washer for possible mold spots. That caused some incredible health trouble for us for two years. Proud of you for being a lovely homemaker!

I have lived in poverty and have always had my flowers. Seed packets of flowers r cheap and fun to grow. One of my favorite flowers that were cheap, easy and prolific bloomers is zinnias, u should give them a try 🙂

Soap nuts, bicarbonate of soda, lemons, they all clean clothes & dishes and also if u bottle it, it will clean ur whole house, no harsh chemicals. Win. They are cheap and effective.
My sister is a landscape designer and she's told me of some inexpensive annuals that really fill out so I've used those every year and it costs me less than $70 to make my front yard garden look full and pretty. (Bubblegum super petunias) :)
I think what most don’t realize is that they may not make below the poverty line, but they live as if they are below the line. That means living within your means or way below your means.
Those who truly need it should not be shamed for it. Those who do not need it, be glad you do not need it and not resent those in true need. Not all are abusing the system.
I have been making my own laundry detergent for years. 1 bar of zote soap shredded,1 box borax, 1 box washing soda, 1 cup of baking soda. You can put the scent beads if you want but we like the clean smell it has. You also need to add white vinegar in your rinse cycle with most homemade detergents. It helps with build up and sanitizes your clothes and makes them softer. Most of my house is used furniture or hand me downs and definitely thrift stores and garage sales. The older stuff lasts longer 😊 the pizza looked really yummy.

I have been looking for creators that inspire what you described- joyful contentment. God is so good, and provides more than we need and deserve but when we are focused on what we don’t have it steals our joy. Looking for contentment in our 900 square-foot condo everyday. I love our electric mower! We have really enjoyed mixing flours of 25lb of white with sprouted wheat off of Amazon. I wonder what adding chickpea to that mix would do? It’s a nice way to up the nutritional value but still stretch. I’m always pleased with the AMOUNT of fun things you can put on the pizza or the simple cheese my kids love!
I applaud you for staying home with your children despite not having a ton of money. It shows its really not about money, it's about priorities! Also I would have been nervous about that thin consistency crust as well but it turned out so well, I'll have to try it!

I don’t think they meant any shade at working mamas (or papas!), but more of an encouragement for the mama who does stay home and makes sacrifices too. So encouraging to see someone else who makes a narrow laundry closet work (but much better than me lol). My mother grew up in Brazil. I remember her telling me a story of a young couple in her church. They got married in their teens and they were extremely poor. Their house had a compacted red clay floor, meaning the red dirt was pressed down to create the floor of their house. The wife would take plastic shopping bags and use them to create doilies, floor mats, and other decorative crochet elements for their home. My mom said their house was so cute and lovely. It's amazing what a little creativity and resourcefulness can produce when you choose to be content with what you have.
I found a covet and the down filling for $5.00 then s few years ago i another cover witch is good for winter months. The first one is reversable,stripes on one side and circles on the other in brown greens and blues then found the brown pillows on sale $3.00 each. Plus body pillows for $10.00 each and sheet sets gifted. Plus i buy the sheets for making my blouses and dresses and king sized pillow case too match for aprons.
If you have a Lowe’s near you go to the clearance plant section. Often times they just need water. I got drift roses and they filled out my front planter.

It seems like despite being low income that you make an effort to feed your family healthy food. I would love to hear or see how you manage the cost of groceries especially quality food. I’m a new wife, relatively new Christian, new to homemaking was never taught as a child and also homeschooling. I am struggling to keep all our groceries and supplies to 150 a week. For family of 4 also.

@annadysett thinking about your landscape. Did you know that you could go get “starts” from other people’s plants that you like. You just need a little bit and they will start growing in your yard and make new plants. Totally free. Some people actually appreciate it because some plants start to get too big and they need to cut them down or pull out some anyway.
I love this idea. My mother in law has quite a green thumb now thinking about it.. I should probably go poke around her gardens. I know she wouldn’t mind!

I used to make my own laundry powder. I have not done that in a long time. I used to use pink ZOTE soap from Mexico to make it pretty. Most grocery stores carry it. I should maybe try doing that again. I’m still working on finished a giant bottle of Ecos liquid laundry soap I bought at my local Grocery Outlet some time ago.
For landscaping inexpensively, see if you have a Wild Ones native plant group in your area. A lot of chapters hold free seed and plant giveaways. Plus, the native plants will need way less water and attention than most exotic plants from a nursery would.
I can’t stress enough how easy and cheap it is to direct sow flower and vegetable seeds outside right after Mother’s Day. It typically rains a lot during the spring so you can sow whole beds of beautiful pollinator flowers to enhance your yard. The US especially is very in need of pollinator plants because we need to feed the bees and butterflies. Their numbers are so low because we constantly clear out the natural areas of land to make way for more housing. If they die, we die. We need them pollinating our food sources or we all go extinct together. So cozy beautiful cottage style gardens are important everywhere that we can put them. You can find seeds really inexpensively at dollar stores. And you can also work in food crops into the landscape design right up around your house. I have cottage garden flowers mixed in with tomato plants and peppers also started from seed because it’s so much cheaper for so many more plants. Things are just scattered here and there as I wanted. I have a whole pile of garden vegetables on the table right now that I need to process and bag up for freezing. I won’t have to purchase vegetables for most of the winter months because I’m either pressure canning them in an electric pressure cooker or blanching and freezing them. Some plants are quite beautiful in the landscape too. Rainbow swiss chard is gorgeous to look at. I have Brussel sprouts planted and it’s a big leafy green plant. (All started from seed packets). I bought dollar store stacked planters ($1.25 each!) and grew all my culinary herbs next to my door for easy cutting before dinner is cooked. I have a bushy stevia plant for free healthy sweetener in our sun tea jug. Clip and wash off, and in it goes. I have potted mint and lemon balm for the same reason. (Never plant mint of any kind directly in the ground because it spreads like wildfire and you can’t get rid of it). Anyway I hope this helps. You can also check facebook marketplace locally to see if anyone is giving away free plants. A ton of free plants get put up because people want them dug up and removed for free because they don’t want to mess with them anymore or someone else planted it prior to them moving in. So freebies are available more often than not as long as you’re willing to go dig them yourself.
Tip for the landscape area... just buy a seasonal flower seed pack...easy sowimg and watering and it looks beautiful! If yoy dont have money for the seed, see which flowers has gone to seed already and use those, or ask people for some spare seeds
You should sprout sweet potato slips and fill your “flower” beds with beautiful vines that provide food. If you’re in an area that would support that. We do sweet potato vines and grow basils and some pepper plants together amongst the vines. If I can’t eat it or make a home remedy with it, I don’t plant it. I also planted a mini fig and a pomegranate in those areas. Lots of options to make beautiful but useful “flower beds”
i feel u ive spend dozens of hours trying to maintain my front lawn but since we didnt grow plants indoors along with landscaping fabric + mulch, our front yard looks WILD lmao This winter im definitely going to put aside $$$ to invest in our landscaping since we might list our home next year.
I’m impressed with what you can do with such a low income. My husband and I make over 75k and we are really struggling with basic expenses. And I’m trying to have a minimalist lifestyle but even with that mindset it’s difficult financially. I’ll continue to watch your videos to have some ideas 🙂
I think we feel that we need more landscape because what we see others have. I always have to think “ Would I feel like I had enough if there wasn’t anyone to compare with?” The answer is almost always yes!!!!
I love this because you live a similar lifestyle as me. It’s hard work being poor but you can eat healthy and have nice things. I accept hand me downs all the time and get most the other things I need at yard sales. I do a lot of cooking from scratch too and it can be a real challenge when you’re low on money and have to get creative in the kitchen. Luckily I have chickens and a garden and a little bit of foraging skills. I’m not below the poverty line but I’m technically “low class.” Something else people don’t get is that you can be really poor and have nice things gifted to you. I have a lot of nice things (shoes, clothes, purses, beauty products etc) that were passed down to me from my aunt who died.

In Italy we exchange flowers, kitchen herbs or bulbs with neighbors. Maybe ask people in church who can exchange or give you some seeds from their garden? You can exchange with cookies or a good casserole. As for the rest, I am not going to offend my KORD for the immense blessings he gives us, yet we thrift! I don’t think we have one plate that isn’t thrifted or glasses or coffee/tea cups. Even out silverware is thrifted and is a very famous brand, we found it for barely €50. I found the most beautiful and in many cases precious thins like a full Rosenthal plate set for only €90 while on Ebay it sells for well over €2000. Same for my linens and clothes. Is a lifestyle and it doesn’t have to do anything with only being poor or gatekeeping it. What an absurdity!
i would suggest putting the chia seeds in the yogurt so they can bloom for a minute before eating, if not the expand in your stomach and can cause bloating, and you don’t get the full benefits! i just learned this too
One thing I would suggest for saving money is growing your own herbs. I have been able to grow almost all my own herbs in a very small space and it's a huge cost savings! Paying $3-4 for a bunch of basil or a jar of dried basil is ridiculous when you can buy a small plant for that price and propagate hundreds of new plants from it for free. Dehydrate those herbs and you have a stocked spice cabinet! I only have to buy cinnamon and a few spices from Asia- all the rest are home grown!
I’ve been making my own laundry detergent for 10 years (powder not liquid) I’ll never use anything else. I make enough for a year and it saves us hundreds a year!

One box of washing soda, one big box of baking soda, one box of borax, one large container of oxiclean, 3 bars (grated) fels naptha, one pink zote soap bar, and one white (grated). Mix all together and store. The scoop in the oxiclean is good to use, the first line on it is enough for a full load, about 1/4th of a cup. Use 1/8th a cup for a half load.
If you go on local forum s u can ask if anyone has any plants to dig up or dug up they want to pass on that you Can transplant to your front yard garden that wil come back yr after yr
I got some really nice people Pyrex bowls just for helping an elderly neighbor clean out a few things, they weren’t using them. And I love glass bowls. You can get really nice things on the cheap if you know where to look. That crust batter looks like crepe batter. Interesting :)

I would suggest spending $10 on herbal seeds (or you can find them for free at libraries, seed exchanges, neighbors, and some seed companies will give seeds if you ask). You can gro those plants in your landscape and they will also benefit your health. Mullein is excellent for anything lung or mucus related (and the plant grows wild, but you want something no sprayed with chemical or vehilce exhaust). We use the dry leaved in teas anytime a sniffle begins. Sage, oregano, lemon balm, rosemary, etc. All lovely plants, good for the body, and grow well in regular soil. God bless!
@@AnnaDysett I should have spell checked that post before pushing send. 😆 If you don't have a grow light for inside then spring is best. Some take a year or two to get good growth on them. You could also look in your area for a greenhouse that sells herbs or craigslist or marketplace for neighbors that may have some to share. Calendula, chamomile, elecampe will all have lovely flowers and are medicial and all 3 are super easy to grow from seed. Just keep the soil moist (not sopping) until they sprout. You'll find lots of help on youtube also.

My Mother is (what I like to call) a Miracle Thrifter😄 I have obtained her skills lol😂💗 I know a high quality item when I see one and I’m good searching for and getting a great bargain for them. People just have to put the work in and do their due diligence❤️
Remember that at that income level you don’t pay taxes and do qualify for many discount programs. For example where I live, families with incomes under 60k get 30% off electric bill. They also qualify for free school breakfasts and lunches, transportation discounts, etc. it does make things a bit easier.
1:50 it's probably allergies. Get allergy tests and change your air filters more frequently. Remember a higher merv count isn't always better. I had to have my ducts cleaned out and AC replaced because the higher count stifled air flow so much it allowed dust to build up and overworked my system until it burnt. The reusable ones do not work. If your symptoms are worse right after you wake up it could be that the air is to dry or your under a vent.

Normally if there is a runny nose or sore throat it is a good thing. It means their immune system is working. Possible causes are allergies/sensitivities to dust, soap, food, dry air, etc.
I am working on making my space feel more cozy and like home. I want to appreciate what I already have because it could be worse. I live in a tiny duplex made from a trailer and it is beautiful. Small kitchen and living room. Small bed room and bathroom with a shower. I wash my baby in a storage container but he loves it. He is five now. We all still share a bed. I always complain about wanting more, and that may be why I am still where I am. It's been so hard to just be myself and do what makes me happy because I've been trying to conform to society and what I see around me. Or do what others deem to be right for me. I'm learning to let go and let God. I would love to pour more of myself into making it feel like home.

My husband got this little house roughly 15 years ago as a foreclosure for only $60k. He spent so much of his savings cleaning it up and making it look nice - but there is still a lot of work to do. The past 8 years or so we have used resources like return wholesales and thrifting to give it some character on our tight budget. 🙂

Most can’t get approved for a $60000 loan and we cant afford $150 duvet, even on our anniversary. We don’t do gifts for eachother because it’s just not worth it. Also they own their house. You are not living below the poverty line if you own your house. It’s tiresome watching UA-camrs who say they are living below the poverty line when in reality they just don’t have the same bills as the rest of us. Landscaping is out of our budget as well so seeds are my go to. Wild flower mixes are great, but sweet alyssum will fill a whole bed! If it reseeds itself it’ll come back year after year.

My kiddos are 21 months, 7, 12, and 16. Someone always seems to be sick with something lol. When you have a little in the house and they go anywhere (like nursery at church) they are just passing the germs back and forth like crazy. Then the bigger your family gets, the more chances you have of people being sick!

Love is the main ingredient in your delicious meals!! For your kids being healthier - maybe look into DIY echinacea angustifolia dried root tincture (susun weed) as very effective - mix 1-3 dropper-fulls (depending on weight) in a bit of tea or water (maybe lemon also to hide taste) 3-5 times a day till well. also hydrogen peroxide (3%) finger rubbed around and in ears at first sign of illness very helpful to head things off (dr mer co la). Real garlic and ginger very effective but harder to get kids to take. i think whatever you do for them with love will work!
These comments are driving me nuts! Anna explained in a comment that most years, they make between 20-30k, which IS below the poverty line for a family of 4. She's explained that she thrifts and doesn't spend a whole lot. Her home is filled with nice things. But you can get nice things at the thrift store or garage sales. I just found her channel and I love it, we’re ‘poor’ and so is pretty much everyone around us in our area in the south. But I love seeing other people make their homes beautiful with little money or using what they have already. Thrift stores and yard sales have SO MANY treasures!! The love and care you put into your space shows. We live in a tiny 20 year old mobile home but over the years have made it so cozy and it’s my favorite place to be. ❤️
It’s crazy how people put a “look” on being poor. I went to a food bank and they had different tables set up. I approached a table to see what they were offering and the lady got loud with me and said “This is for the homeless people”. She really upset me. I asked her if she could please tell me what allows her to believe I’m not homeless! Was I supposed to have a certain look?!? I have never went back there again.

Or food that requires no cooking for the homeless or others who do not have cooking facilities or prefer not to cook. When I was housed, all of the food banks have some kind of system where they offer or inquire if I preferred foods not needing to be cooked. At that point, was happy to have a stove-oven, not much of a cook then, yet always made myself a hot beverage in the mornings, and finally at a point, thankful and grateful to enjoy being able to cook a simple meal. That lady was either intentionally rude, or got her messages mixed up by someone else. Sorry you had to go through this.

Crazy how some people are gatekeeping poverty in the comments. I grew up well below the poverty line and my mom made our house beautiful with things she found on the street and paint. She also worked very hard to keep our house and yard very neat and clean.

My husband and I have been together for 5 years and have two toddlers. We have consistently lived off of $600 a week or less ever since we've been together. I stay home with the kids and we have learned how to hardcore budget everything and make a lot of food from scratch. We have moved several times and recently bought a fixer upper home. It is possible to live well in poverty. Things are older and nothing is really new but as long as the family is well taken care of that is all that matters!

I think measuring poverty from some income line is silly anyway. What we consider poverty is, in most of the world, comfortable living. What WAS poverty in the 1930s in this country is what poverty looks like. This means barely enough food, living off cheap grains and not much else. Living in rags for clothes, with maybe one good hand me down for church. An orange or some new home made socks at Christmas. Never having new shoes, maybe newspaper in the soles where there are holes. Let's be real. Just because you live on a very frugal budget does not mean you are "impoverished." I live very frugally and have always been below that "line." My kids had what they needed and ate very healthy, balanced meals. Christmas was on a budget, but there were gifts. My kids are almost grown and I don't have much in my place that I bought new. I love my home. It needs some repair and that has had to wait until I could save. I work seven days a week. Grow and can my own food. Hard times are coming again. Everyone reading this should be storing three months of food, medicine, pet food, etc.
We lived in a very small house x 36 years and if you pull your weeds, mow, clean the front porch as you are doing, even if you can't plant flowers and get new mulch..your home looks well cared for and nice
As a wife also in corporate america, these videos are always intriguing to me. I luckily work from home full time and get to do all the things now considered "traditional wife". Feeding my family, keeping a clean calm and peaceful home, growing our own fruit and veggies and becoming more self sustainable etc. Even though we are well above poverty level, we wear used clothes, make our own bread and make things frim scratch and our own cleaning products etc. Goodwill and a sewing machine are my faves, dollar store seeds and dirt are my go to, using kitchen scraps to start your veggies and fruit as well! Eggs shells and used coffee grounds, compost tea and exchanging meals and plants with neighbors. Hubby wants chickens but we swap garden grown produce for fresh eggs currently. Also, you can totally sew a quick and easy duvet with goodwill fabric . Super easy if you can sew a button. I admire thr lifestyle and know that, even wives that work full time are enjoying these lifestyles. Thanks for the tips from a non "traditional wife" just being a homemaker and working at the same time. I love it!
The premise of your comment is nonsensical, as *homemaking is a full time job* . Logically, you can't work two full times jobs and do each to the best of your ability. So, whether you give 100% to your job or not, you are not giving 100% to raising your home.

So, that's just an ancient excuse to shame women out of the workforce (and out of universities/ high schools), and keep mentally abusing them.

Find yards with beautiful perennials. Walk along with your children and stop to admire then if anyone is around, ask if they'll share. Especially look for retired folks working in the yards. Used to be that's how everybody got their plants. Sharing and connecting are blessings of living frugally. God provides.
Bought a pack of Aubretia seeds a while ago, small ground cover perennials in a pretty blue, put a row along the front of borders under about an inch of soil in spring. Will need to water them through the first summer but after that they just do their own thing! Pack of 500 for a couple of dollars.... It doesn't have to be expensive. Marigolds will self seed and spread every year.. There are loads of seeds around that are perennial.
I love this! I started the first half of my adult life in poverty as a single mom with two kids and now later in life the past six years. Most people don’t know I live in poverty and due to health am unable to work a pt job. But I make it all work. And my life is good. I make all my own food from scratch, garden, spend time caring and homemaking my home inside and outside. I thrift and rarely purchase new unless its something I have saved for a long time. Just because you have a lovely home doesn’t mean you have a lot of money. It just means you know how to make due and care for what you do have. Anna, thank you for sharing. Yes, this can be done. A quality life with God as our center.

Get a few rosemary cuttings from a friend and put them in water. You'll have roots in 2 weeks. Plant these in small pots till they grow larger , then put them in the flower bed. They are green year round and smell great.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this already, but elderberry syrup changed our lives when our kids were little, Especially during the winter months. We made our own because it’s much cheaper that way and my kiddos took a spoonful daily.

We have owned two homes and were told by the bank that there is no way with our income that we should even get the money. We are currently in our second owned home and it’s paid for. Was it hard living below the poverty line… yes, and we were not always smart with our money but we never had a bill late and we always had what we needed. God truly did provide. We fooled alot of people because you would have never known it. We did what we could and took care of what we had and had lovely homes. We rented a couple in the beginning. We have been married twenty three years now and our kids are older. Our income has went up through the years. I would ask though will you share some of your tips on a video( maybe you already have) on how you budget and what your spending looks like? I have to be honest even though we make more now with our business expenses and inflation it’s tight at times. What are some tips you can share? I honestly think tithing is a major component in provision. Just curious what you do as far as what you do today in this economy to stay afloat. 😊

I’m tired of seeing influencers flaunting their wealth when some of them may be fooling everyone just like you mentioned. Also, I only show roughly 13 minutes of my day. We have things around here in this home that really need assistance and could be even dangerous to our health, but we can’t afford to correct it and I’m not complaining. Having running water, warm beds, and food to eat - I realize I am rich in all the ways that really matter and that’s what this video was all about ♥️

It’s amazing what you can do when you live below your means!! I have found as a family of seven we can easily live below the “poverty” line.
Also check the front loader washer for possible mold spots. That caused some incredible health trouble for us for two years.

I have lived in poverty and have always had my flowers. Seed packets of flowers r cheap and fun to grow. One of my favorite flowers that were cheap, easy and prolific bloomers is zinnias, u should give them a try 🙂

Soap nuts, bicarbonate of soda, lemons, they all clean clothes & dishes and also if u bottle it, it will clean ur whole house, no harsh chemicals. Win. They are cheap and effective.

My sister is a landscape designer and she's told me of some inexpensive annuals that really fill out so I've used those every year and it costs me less than $70 to make my front yard garden look full and pretty. (Bubblegum super petunias) :)

I have been making my own laundry detergent for years. 1 bar of zote soap shredded,1 box borax, 1 box washing soda, 1 cup of baking soda. You can put the scent beads if you want but we like the clean smell it has. You also need to add white vinegar in your rinse cycle with most homemade detergents. It helps with build up and sanitizes your clothes and makes them softer. Most of my house is used furniture or hand me downs and definitely thrift stores and garage sales. The older stuff lasts longer 😊 the pizza looked really yummy.

I love our electric mower! We have really enjoyed mixing flours of 25lb of white with sprouted wheat off of Amazon. I wonder what adding chickpea to that mix would do? It’s a nice way to up the nutritional value but still stretch. I’m always pleased with the AMOUNT of fun things you can put on the pizza or the simple cheese my kids love!

So encouraging to see someone else who makes a narrow laundry closet work (but much better than me lol).
My mother grew up in Brazil. I remember her telling me a story of a young couple in her church. They got married in their teens and they were extremely poor. Their house had a compacted red clay floor, meaning the red dirt was pressed down to create the floor of their house. The wife would take plastic shopping bags and use them to create doilies, floor mats, and other decorative crochet elements for their home. My mom said their house was so cute and lovely. It's amazing what a little creativity and resourcefulness can produce when you choose to be content with what you have.
I found a covet and the down filling for $5.00 then s few years ago i another cover witch is good for winter months. The first one is reversable,stripes on one side and circles on the other in brown greens and blues then found the brown pillows on sale $3.00 each. Plus body pillows for $10.00 each and sheet sets gifted. Plus i buy the sheets for making my blouses and dresses and king sized pillow case too match for aprons.
If you have a Lowe’s near you go to the clearance plant section. Often times they just need water. I got drift roses and they filled out my front planter.

@annadysett thinking about your landscape. Did you know that you could go get “starts” from other people’s plants that you like. You just need a little bit and they will start growing in your yard and make new plants. Totally free. Some people actually appreciate it because some plants start to get too big and they need to cut them down or pull out some anyway.
I love this idea. My mother in law has quite a green thumb now thinking about it.. I should probably go poke around her gardens. I know she wouldn’t mind!

I used to make my own laundry powder. I have not done that in a long time. I used to use pink ZOTE soap from Mexico to make it pretty. Most grocery stores carry it. I should maybe try doing that again. I’m still working on finished a giant bottle of Ecos liquid laundry soap I bought at my local Grocery Outlet some time ago.

For landscaping inexpensively, see if you have a Wild Ones native plant group in your area. A lot of chapters hold free seed and plant giveaways. Plus, the native plants will need way less water and attention than most exotic plants from a nursery would.
I can’t stress enough how easy and cheap it is to direct sow flower and vegetable seeds outside right after Mother’s Day. It typically rains a lot during the spring so you can sow whole beds of beautiful pollinator flowers to enhance your yard. The US especially is very in need of pollinator plants because we need to feed the bees and butterflies. Their numbers are so low because we constantly clear out the natural areas of land to make way for more housing. If they die, we die. We need them pollinating our food sources or we all go extinct together. So cozy beautiful cottage style gardens are important everywhere that we can put them. You can find seeds really inexpensively at dollar stores. And you can also work in food crops into the landscape design right up around your house. I have cottage garden flowers mixed in with tomato plants and peppers also started from seed because it’s so much cheaper for so many more plants. Things are just scattered here and there as I wanted. I have a whole pile of garden vegetables on the table right now that I need to process and bag up for freezing. I won’t have to purchase vegetables for most of the winter months because I’m either pressure canning them in an electric pressure cooker or blanching and freezing them. Some plants are quite beautiful in the landscape too. Rainbow swiss chard is gorgeous to look at. I have Brussel sprouts planted and it’s a big leafy green plant. (All started from seed packets). I bought dollar store stacked planters ($1.25 each!) and grew all my culinary herbs next to my door for easy cutting before dinner is cooked. I have a bushy stevia plant for free healthy sweetener in our sun tea jug. Clip and wash off, and in it goes. I have potted mint and lemon balm for the same reason. (Never plant mint of any kind directly in the ground because it spreads like wildfire and you can’t get rid of it). Anyway I hope this helps. You can also check facebook marketplace locally to see if anyone is giving away free plants. A ton of free plants get put up because people want them dug up and removed for free because they don’t want to mess with them anymore or someone else planted it prior to them moving in. So freebies are available more often than not as long as you’re willing to go dig them yourself.
Tip for the landscape area... just buy a seasonal flower seed pack...easy sowimg and watering and it looks beautiful!
If yoy dont have money for the seed, see which flowers has gone to seed already and use those, or ask people for some spare seeds

You should sprout sweet potato slips and fill your “flower” beds with beautiful vines that provide food. If you’re in an area that would support that. We do sweet potato vines and grow basils and some pepper plants together amongst the vines. If I can’t eat it or make a home remedy with it, I don’t plant it. I also planted a mini fig and a pomegranate in those areas. Lots of options to make beautiful but useful “flower beds”

I love this because you live a similar lifestyle as me. It’s hard work being poor but you can eat healthy and have nice things. I accept hand me downs all the time and get most the other things I need at yard sales. I do a lot of cooking from scratch too and it can be a real challenge when you’re low on money and have to get creative in the kitchen. Luckily I have chickens and a garden and a little bit of foraging skills. I’m not below the poverty line but I’m technically “low class.” Something else people don’t get is that you can be really poor and have nice things gifted to you. I have a lot of nice things (shoes, clothes, purses, beauty products etc) that were passed down to me from my aunt who died.

In Italy we exchange flowers, kitchen herbs or bulbs with neighbors. Maybe ask people in church who can exchange or give you some seeds from their garden? You can exchange with cookies or a good casserole. As for the rest, I am not going to offend my KORD for the immense blessings he gives us, yet we thrift! I don’t think we have one plate that isn’t thrifted or glasses or coffee/tea cups. Even out silverware is thrifted and is a very famous brand, we found it for barely €50. I found the most beautiful and in many cases precious thins like a full Rosenthal plate set for only €90 while on Ebay it sells for well over €2000. Same for my linens and clothes. Is a lifestyle and it doesn’t have to do anything with only being poor or gatekeeping it. What an absurdity!

i would suggest putting the chia seeds in the yogurt so they can bloom for a minute before eating, if not the expand in your stomach and can cause bloating, and you don’t get the full benefits! i just learned this too

One thing I would suggest for saving money is growing your own herbs. I have been able to grow almost all my own herbs in a very small space and it's a huge cost savings! Paying $3-4 for a bunch of basil or a jar of dried basil is ridiculous when you can buy a small plant for that price and propagate hundreds of new plants from it for free. Dehydrate those herbs and you have a stocked spice cabinet! I only have to buy cinnamon and a few spices from Asia- all the rest are home grown!
I’ve been making my own laundry detergent for 10 years (powder not liquid) I’ll never use anything else. I make enough for a year and it saves us hundreds a year!

@@AnnaDysettI use borax in mine, never had any issues. One box of washing soda, one big box of baking soda, one box of borax, one large container of oxiclean, 3 bars (grated) fels naptha, one pink zote soap bar, and one white (grated). Mix all together and store. The scoop in the oxiclean is good to use, the first line on it is enough for a full load, about 1/4th of a cup. Use 1/8th a cup for a half load.
If you go on local forum s u can ask if anyone has any plants to dig up or dug up they want to pass on that you Can transplant to your front yard garden that wil come back yr after yr
I got some really nice people Pyrex bowls just for helping an elderly neighbor clean out a few things, they weren’t using them. And I love glass bowls.

I would suggest spending $10 on herbal seeds (or you can find them for free at libraries, seed exchanges, neighbors, and some seed companies will give seeds if you ask). You can gro those plants in your landscape and they will also benefit your health. Mullein is excellent for anything lung or mucus related (and the plant grows wild, but you want something no sprayed with chemical or vehilce exhaust). We use the dry leaved in teas anytime a sniffle begins. Sage, oregano, lemon balm, rosemary, etc. All lovely plants, good for the body, and grow well in regular soil. God bless!

If you don't have a grow light for inside then spring is best. Some take a year or two to get good growth on them. You could also look in your area for a greenhouse that sells herbs or craigslist or marketplace for neighbors that may have some to share. Calendula, chamomile, elecampe will all have lovely flowers and are medicial and all 3 are super easy to grow from seed. Just keep the soil moist (not sopping) until they sprout. You'll find lots of help on youtube also.

Remember that at that income level you don’t pay taxes and do qualify for many discount programs. For example where I live, families with incomes under 60k get 30% off electric bill. They also qualify for free school breakfasts and lunches, transportation discounts, etc. it does make things a bit easier.
1:50 it's probably allergies. Get allergy tests and change your air filters more frequently. Remember a higher merv count isn't always better. I had to have my ducts cleaned out and AC replaced because the higher count stifled air flow so much it allowed dust to build up and overworked my system until it burnt. The reusable ones do not work. If your symptoms are worse right after you wake up it could be that the air is to dry or your under a vent.
Sourdough is also a greay alternative as it breaks down gluten :)

Normally if there is a runny nose or sore throat it is a good thing. It means their immune system is working. Possible causes are allergies/sensitivities to dust, soap, food, dry air, etc.
I am working on making my space feel more cozy and like home. I want to appreciate what I already have because it could be worse. I live in a tiny duplex made from a trailer and it is beautiful. Small kitchen and living room. Small bed room and bathroom with a shower. I wash my baby in a storage container but he loves it. He is five now. We all still share a bed. I always complain about wanting more, and that may be why I am still where I am. It's been so hard to just be myself and do what makes me happy because I've been trying to conform to society and what I see around me. Or do what others deem to be right for me. I'm learning to let go and let God. I would love to pour more of myself into making it feel like home.

Thank you so much! We’ve spent most of our years together living between 20-30k and have been blessed even with that amount. My husband got this little house roughly 15 years ago as a foreclosure for only $60k. He spent so much of his savings cleaning it up and making it look nice - but there is still a lot of work to do. The past 8 years or so we have used resources like return wholesales and thrifting to give it some character on our tight budget. 🙂

Most can’t get approved for a $60000 loan and we cant afford $150 duvet, even on our anniversary. We don’t do gifts for eachother because it’s just not worth it. Also they own their house. You are not living below the poverty line if you own your house. It’s tiresome watching UA-camrs who say they are living below the poverty line when in reality they just don’t have the same bills as the rest of us. I’m not mad that they have all this but it’s not a fair comparison.

Landscaping is out of our budget as well so seeds are my go to. Wild flower mixes are great, but sweet alyssum will fill a whole bed! If it reseeds itself it’ll come back year after year.

My kiddos are 21 months, 7, 12, and 16. Someone always seems to be sick with something lol. When you have a little in the house and they go anywhere (like nursery at church) they are just passing the germs back and forth like crazy. Then the bigger your family gets, the more chances you have of people being sick!
