Hey Marshie, are you running Omo in your gates deck? She gives everything counters to creatures and lands and makes them every land/creature type. She's a neat way to be a bit lighter on gates and still have a win condition through maze's end! Also, there's nothing wrong with having a game winning combo. Sometimes the fun of the game has passed and it's gotten into a grindy stalemate. Having an out that makes it easy for everyone to say, "ok, lets go next" is an important part of a game you are trying to win.
I just keep winning as soon as I draw those cards and I dont think it ends the game in a satisfying way for anybody. The fun I got out of the gates when they were in standard was slowly finding them as the game went on, and “oops, I tutored them all” doesn’t capture that at all. Instantly winning ‘cause I drew one card from any board state doesn’t do anything for me. I had Omo in but she has to be on the field for things to remain gates so I cut her.
@hambourje maybe, Ill admit I havent paid much attention to when before the beginning of my turn it happens. If it is eot I think its still probably not worth it unless your were heavily tutoring for KJ or had other eot triggers.
About the commander part, I really think low power decks with combos in them are the best and sweetspot for the commander format. You get the silly cards and silly interactions with slow (and clunky) gameplay, but when there are also combos built in, preferably some that compliment the decks overall gameplan, such as Boros ETB valuepile can play Kiki-Jiki + Restoration Angel combo while both also work as an ETB value tools, the game actually ends at some point when people are not numb from playing 4h hour game of battlecruiser.

I also got a good deck idea, so play Kil'jaeden and instead of Hakkar use Tog Waggle then Tony to replace there deck with 30 Demons and use zola to play Tog Waggle again to get your deck back. Your going to need Eonar somewhere in there to make it work and would be very funny.
There is just infinite decks just waiting to be discovered with kil'jaiden. What is next QL warlock with kil'jaiden but we just wait for a gaint rook to deal damage to the opponents face instead.
