- MAR "The Dutchess" HAMIL, has an experience of homelessness that is a little different than most people. She fell in love with a man who is homeless and supports him to help other people who are unhoused.
This is the sixth video in a series of eighteen shot at the Royal Athletic Park (RAP) Parking Lot encampment in Victoria, BC. In consideration of the heated debate around homelessness in our community, it's important to hear the voices of the people actually experiencing LIFE OUTSIDE. Thank you, Mar, for sharing your story.

ANALYZE THIS! Again, romanticizing a dysfunctional codependent relationship. This ISNT LOVE. theres way more to the story too... huge gaps. Again, if I really love someone, I'm not letting the person live in a tent...or if they love me, dragging me down or me letting them drag me down to that level where I'm stuck living in a tent. I think he got her hooked on drugs because she even said she grew up very sheltered in this Christian do gooder family, so she had no street smarts, no idea just how bad people get conniving manipulating at the street level as drug addicts are , she's literally brainwashed by him. Same thing happen to me I recognize this...that's what I'd really like to know, if they're drug users or alcoholics if they have any form of addiction? And was she not an addict until she met him , and now he's got her screwed up on something and now she's an addict?. This is very common. I've had drug-addicted Predator criminals do this try this with me . When I stop putting up with their abuse and taking advantage of what I had that's when they left. Cuz I've had guys make me lose my place too, and I thought I was all in love and they made it out like I was going to be the one to save them. Then I got rid of their leeching using fake asses, on accepting they were not going to change they just did that to string me along, and out of my denial all the way, and finally got out of my Insanity, I just got myself a new place and then after the cycle and Pattern of abuse repeated itself enough times, and I was evicted yet again, I had to admit that it's my fault now I'm the one who's the common denominator causing this, so I finally learned my lesson for good and I don't let anybody in... my Sacred Space is my place and I'm never compromising it for anyone or anything, I'm never letting anyone take it from me... that's what rational sanity looks like ...here it's like just another form of example of being in denial and that's how they spin it to be able to live in it , yeah, it's cuz it's in The Name of Love ? yeah right there's nothing loving about this... who are they fooling, besides themselves...
Enabling addicts and sexualizing vulnerability isn't the way to help people who are homeless either and make it so called more effective. If she was a practicing community support worker she'd be in serious contravention of her ethical and moral boundaries getting into a sexualized relationship with someone who would basically be like her client in the same capacity as. She even said if people are homeless are usually mentally ill and , therefore vulnerable so what does she think she's doing going in getting one to f***k around with,literally? Anybody think of that one???
I'm SO confused. She has kids, one is 15 years old, another that is 17... and she's "choosing" to live in a tent with her boyfriend to support him? ...What about supporting her kids? That has to be very hard on them. She's articulate and has family support... she makes it sound like this is a choice. Very sad. There's got to be a big piece missing from this story or maybe this is a coping mechanism?
And choose a support worker that's a very typical job of a co-dependent. She's trying to rationalize why she's out side living like this, probably cuz she's addicted

Or supporting an addict ...
