Ahhh, it's soooo good to find some documentation of Johnny Mørch's incredible skills and impressive production of the finest handbuilt basses and guitars of Denmark. Johnny worked hard on developement and quality ever since the early seventies and succeeded on selling (i.e. NOT sponsoring!) instruments to the greatest musicians of the Century - including Jaco Pastorius. I too has had the privilige to own quite a few Mørch basses myself. To me personally Johnny's basses are THE VERY BEST. Period!
I like the fact that another danish builder (Rahbek) actually lauds Mørch as the best. That really does say something about the immense respect there is around this man in the danish music industry.
Ahh memories :D I still use my old Mørch bass from 1987 (I think), and it's getting better every year :) Again, a big thanks to Johnny for making me the best bass guitar ever :)
I live like 2 minutes from him.. lol, I wonder if he needs an apprentice, because I would love to learn from him.. :P I can't play bass though, but there's that old saying: "Never use a tool until you know how to make it yourself", lol - _there's_ motivation for you!
